This means you can place more equipment in less space, dramatically increasing energy efficiency and reducing costs. Innovative technologies deliver continuous high performance in power and cooling. Free cooling and cold air containment across all data floors result in a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.25, which is three times more efficient than typical data centres. 06 / TelecityGroup 6 Generators Resilient and redundant. A data centre you can rely on. Designed and built by experts and based on our unrivalled engineering experience, Southeast AMS 5 is a standard-setting data centre that ensures your critical systems are always available. Uninterrupted power The data centre s uninterruptable power supply sets new standards for resiliency, enabling us to guarantee continuous power availability to your equipment. Two fully diverse paths (A+B) supply utility power. Each originates from substations at opposite sides of the city. The main feeds, comprising six cables (N+2), connect to the data centre at opposite sides of the building. Inside the data centre, the main feeds are connected to a 10 kv power ring operated by our personnel. The ring interconnects six energy sections (N+1), each comprising a transformer, battery-backed uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) (N+1), and a hot-standby diesel generator. Five of the six energy sections are required to power the data centre at full load, providing an industry leading power resiliency of (N+1)+1. We can also connect a seventh power source externally to maintain this resiliency, even during long-term maintenance. We will provide you with two dedicated power distribution units (PDUs (A+B) per cabinet. Each supports up to eight AC feeds 16 or 32 amps, either single-phase (230 V) or three-phase (400 V). Continuous cooling Southeast AMS 5 s cooling infrastructure is highly efficient and fully resilient. All critical equipment is installed in an N+1 or 2N configuration, enabling us to guarantee continuous cooling to your assets. The data centre has 2 independent chilled water loops (A+B). Close control units (2N+2) situated outside the raised floor - area cool your equipment. The data centre automatically combines cooling sources depending on ambient temperature and humidity. Primary cooling is free cooling through evaporative cooling towers (N+1). Secondary cooling is free cooling by ATES (2N): storage of waste heat in underground aquifers. Tertiary cooling is through cooling engines (N+1). A modular cold air containment system guarantees efficient and effective cooling of up to 15 kw per footprint.
07 / TelecityGroup Fire suppression CCTV Controlled access Operations centre The data centre includes an operations centre that is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An extensive Building Management System (BMS) continuously monitors technical equipment, temperature sensors, smoke and fire detection equipment and door alarms. A dedicated Electrical Management System (EMS) monitors the data centre s entire electrical installation. Fire detection and suppression Southeast AMS 5 is protected by a sophisticated smoke and fire detection system (VESDA) and a pre-action drypipe fire suppression system. VESDA immediately detects airborne heat and smoke particles, notifying our on-site facility staff before a fire has an opportunity to start. Installed throughout the facility, the fire suppression system extinguishes fires instantly and locally, minimising damage to people and equipment. Physical and electronic protection Securing your business-critical data and systems is our priority. That s why every TelecityGroup data centre is protected by security personnel and multi-layered physical security, including a secure perimeter, personal identification systems and video surveillance. We can also tailor this security to your exact needs. Southeast AMS 5 has an on-site security centre manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our security desk only grants access to registered people following pre-notification and personal identification. Only authorised visitors are allowed through the single point of access to the data centre s red zone. We issue each visitor with a day pass. This is a Programmed Access Card (PAC), providing access to designated areas only. We escort visitors to their cabinet or suite. All cabinets, suites, doors and technical areas are locked and protected by security breach alarms. The data centre is home to 240 CCTV video cameras, providing a complete audit trail of everyone in the building. We store images for 30 days, in line with local privacy regulations. Support centre The data centre has an on-site support centre. Staffed 24 hours a day, the support centre provides customers with access to skilled engineering and networking professionals. The support centre provides several types of support, from basic inventory management to full deployment, installation and technical management of equipment. Customers can request support by phone or through the customer portal.

Southeast AMS 5 s has the world s largest installation of ATES - thermal energy storage in underground aquifers. In summer, waste heat from the data centre is transferred to a closed water circuit and stored in an underground well. In winter the warm water is pumped up and cooled to 13 degrees Celsius by the then available overcapacity of free cooling. The cool water is stored in the ground and is then used in summer to cool the datacentres hot return water.
