Applicants with an approved undergraduate degree in a non- Information Technology discipline from a recognised tertiary institution or approved equivalent with at least 12 months relevant work experience. As no prior knowledge of Information Technology is assumed, applicants with an Information Technology related degree will be considered only if that degree was awarded over four years ago in which case advanced standing will depend on the applicant s industry experience. Non Graduate Special Entry: Applicants without an undergraduate degree but who have significant relevant employment experience, normally at least 4 years. The relevance of work experience will be assessed in line with Swinburne RPL Policy. Applications for exemption based on completed units in other degree studies will also be considered in line policy. Applicants may be required to be interviewed as part of the approval process. GRADUATE CERTIFICATE OF TECHNOLOGY (BUSINESS SYSTEMS) 2014 Course Structure Admission Opening Date 1 November 2014 Successful completion of an Undergraduate Degree in any discipline equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree. Non Graduate Special Entry: Five (5) years significant relevant work experience and evidence of academic capability (e.g. successful completion of a Certificate or Diploma course at a TAFE with high grades or attaining a GMAT of 550 or higher). Such applicants may be eligible for admission to the Graduate Certificate of Technology (Business Systems) (subject to completing the required pre-requisite units). 2014 2015 To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate of Technology (Business Systems), students must complete four (4) units of study as follows: Two (2) Technology core units Two (2) Technology electives from the approved list of electives To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate of Technology (Business Systems), students must complete eight (8) units of study (100 credit points) as follows: Four (4) Introductory Information Systems units Three (3) Technology core units One (1) Information Systems elective from the approved list of electives recognised institution and/or relevant work experience may be eligible for exemptions. Master of Technology (Business Systems) MASTER OF TECHNOLOGY (BUSINESS SYSTEMS) The Master of Technology (Business Systems) is a conversion program targeted at people who have at least 12 months relevant work experience and an approved undergraduate degree in a non-information Technology discipline. The recommended progression to Masters level for applicants without an undergraduate degree is through the Graduate Certificate in the first instance, with articulation to Graduate Diploma and Masters levels being conditional upon successful completion of the subordinate level. Note that applicants without an undergraduate degree require at least 4 years relevant work experience for admission to the Graduate Certificate (Business Systems). Successful completion of an Undergraduate Degree in any discipline equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree. Pathways entry: Students who have completed the Graduate Certificate of Technology (Business Systems) or the Graduate Diploma of Technology (Business Systems) may progress to the Master of Technology (Business Systems), Pre 2015 intake To qualify for the award of Master of Technology (Business Systems) students must complete twelve (12) units of study comprising of: Seven (7) Technology core units Five (5) Technology electives from the approved list of electives recognised institution and/or relevant work experience may be eligible for exemptions. 2015 intake To qualify for the award of Master of Technology (Business Systems) students must complete sixteen (16) units of study (200 credit points) comprising of: Four (4) Introductory Information Systems units Nine (9) Master of Technology core units Three (3) Master of Technology electives from the approved list of electives recognised institution and/or relevant work experience may be eligible for exemptions.
