SAP Training System Access To login to an SAP system you have to use the so-called SAP GUI (Graphical User Interface). There are several GUI options: 1. Web GUI This is a simple URL that allows you to login via a supported web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer. The benefit is that you do not need to install any additional software on your computer and you can login to the SAP system as soon as you receive your user ID and password. However, the Web GUI is fairly slow and offers only limited functionality for certain features. 2. SAP GUI for Windows This is the standard GUI version which offers the most features. However, it is also the biggest download file. It must be downloaded and installed on your computer. 3. SAP GUI for Java This GUI is platform-independent (meaning that it will run on a Windows PC or an Apple MAC computer). Note that this GUI will not run on a 64-bit operating system! If you want to install this GUI please follow these instructions instead: http:///files/javaguiinstallation.pdf If you are not sure what GUI to use simply ask us or just install the SAP GUI for Windows using the instructions below. Download the SAP GUI for Windows here: http:///files/sapgui/sapgui730.zip The download file is very large (approx. 440 MB) and can take over an hour to download depending on your internet speed. After the download is complete, extract the files using an unzip program (such as WinZip.com) and start the installation. For detailed step-by-step instructions for the SAP GUI for Windows installation please review this file: http:///files/sapgui.pdf Once the SAP GUI is installed you have to create an entry as shown below. We reserve the right to discontinue your developers access rights/user ID if we find that there is no development activity. LSMW access All user IDs include access to the Legacy System Migration Workbench (LSMW). Please make sure that your own LSMW objects start with ZM2B* in ECC 6.0 (or ZMAI* in R/3 4.7) as otherwise you will get an error message regarding missing authorizations. Alternatively, you can go to http://help.sap.com to access all online help documentation. System Availability We understand the importance of having the SAP systems available to you at all times. We do, however, have to perform routine maintenance, upgrades and backups at some time. Therefore, all SAP systems will be unavailable the first Saturday of each month. Please plan your work accordingly. If we require any additional system downtime we will announce the outage on our system status web site. Page 7/9
