Description of the i2004 Internet Telephone The information displayed differs according to the state of the telephone (line free, call in progress, etc.) and the features provided by the system. Simply follow the guide messages. Only the functions available to you appear on the display. Description of keys Loudspeaker: Activates "Handsfree" function. Loudspeaker becomes active and the associated indicator light comes on. Hold: Press this key to place an active call on hold. To return to the caller on hold, press this key again or press the Recover interactive key. Goodbye: Terminates a call. Volume Control Bar: Adjusts volume in handset, loudspeaker or ringer if activated. Increase volume by pressing right side of bar or decrease by pressing left side of bar. Quit: Ends an action in progress. Has no effect on active call. Navigation: Allow you to navigate in a menu list. The line to be selected is highlighted. To select an entry, press the interactive Select key. Copy (reserved for future use). Mute: Cuts the microphone and allows you to listen without transmitting. When the indicator light comes on, the function is active. Press the Mute key again to recover the conversation. The Mute key applies to both the handset and Handsfree microphones. 2
Description of the i2004 Internet Telephone Headset: For use with a headset (reserved for future use). Directory: Provides access to the company directory. All internal and external parties in the directory can be called directly. Incoming Call log: Stores last incoming calls. Allows you to retrieve information and call a correspondent listed in the log. Outgoing Call log: Stores last outgoing calls. Allows you to retrieve information and call a correspondent listed in the log. Services: Accesses telephone set customization menu and telephone and directory services. Reserved for future use. 7070 The green key represents your Line. The icon displayed varies according to line status (free, active, ringing, etc.). Four interactive function keys, located below the display provide access to the functions listed on the display. Next The Next message associated with an interactive key provides access to other functions listed on the menu. Delete Notification of message waiting The Delete key is associated with the data entry screens. This key is used to erase characters previously entered. The Message Lamp lights up when a message is left in your voice mailbox. Additionaly, your display reads " voice message received" when your phone is in idle mode. 3
Description of the i2004 Internet Telephone Recall Symbols used in this guide 1. Press the interactive Recall key 2. Follow the instructions provided by the voice prompts. This symbol appears next to steps that ask you to enter numbers or letters. To enter letters, press the dialpad key with the desired letter repeatedly until that letter appears on the display. The cursor automatically advances to the next position if you press a key that is different from the last. Press 1 to enter a blank space. This symbol appears next to steps that ask you to pick up the handset, by one of the ways described in the following pages. 4
Making a call Making a call Numbering Plans Your business environment has established special call prefixes that you must dial preceding external numbers in order to make external calls. This document does not provide these codes, which can vary in different countries and business environments. Please contact your system administrator to obtain the prefixes. Using the Handset 1. Lift the handset. "Dial the number" is displayed on the screen and you hear a dial tone. 2. Dial the number. Call 3. Press the Call key to complete the call. While on an active call, you can switch between Handset and Handsfree mode. Handsfree or 7070 or Call 1. Press one of the following keys: the Handsfree key your green Line key the interactive Call key or dial the number and go to step 3. "Dial the number" message is displayed on the screen. 2. Dial the number. Call 3. Press Call to complete the call. Speak over the built-in microphone and use the volume control bar to adjust the speaker volume. 4. To terminate the call, press the Goodbye key. 5
Making a call Calling an external correspondent 1. Pick up the handset. 2. Dial: * then the number * Ask the system administrator for the access code. Call 3. Confirm by pressing the Call key. Calling the switchboard 1. Pick up the handset. Emergency calls 2. Dial: * * Ask the system administrator for the direct access code. The current system release allows you to dial emergency numbers directly without dialing a prefix. However, the release does not provide caller-based location-identification for emergency services such as 911 in North America. Since the implementation of emergency dialing can vary between countries and companies, please contact your system administrator for exact information about what to dial in the event of an emergency. 6
Making a call Calling by name (Directory) You can make a call using the names listed in the centralized directory. 1. Pick up the handset. IntName 2. Press the IntName key to reach an internal correspondent. (The Directory screen, with the ExtName key allows you to reach an external correspondent listed in the directory). 3. Dial the first letters of the surname using the keys on the alphanumeric keypad (see page 4). Delete Find 4. To correct, use the interactive Delete key. 5. Press the Find key to display matching entries. 6. Highlight the desired name using the up or down navigation keys. Edit Call File 7. Press the Call key to confirm your choice. The File key provides you with detailed information such as the phone number and department. To modify an entry, select the Edit key. This will take you to the name entry menu. Note: You can also access the directory directly by pressing the when your phone is idle or during an active call, without ending the call. key, 7
Making a call Recall When the correspondent you wish to reach is already on line or does not answer, you can request to be recalled automatically: 1. Dial a number and receive a busy tone or no answer. Redial Recall 2. Press the Recall key. When your correspondent hangs up (at the end of the call in progress or the next call if absent), the Recall rings your phone. When you answer, Recall dials your correspondent. With your telephone in idle mode, press the interactive Redial. The last number dialed is dialed again. Making a call from the log The log records the number of the last incoming and outgoing calls. To access the log and make a call to the selected party: or 1. Press one of the Log keys. 2. Place the highlighting on the desired name: Select Call The interactive Select key allows you to browse the information concerning the call (Date and time of call, correspondent's name and number). To make the call from the list or a file, press the interactive Call key. Note: For more details concerning the log, refer to "Managing the Log" section on page 17. 8
Receiving a call Receiving a call Answering a call When your telephone rings, your correspondent's name is displayed on the screen. If the name is not available, the number is displayed. Lift the handset: you are in communication with your correspondent. or Press the Handsfree key: the call is set up with no need to pick up the handset. Speak over the microphone. or 7070 Press the flashing Line key. Note: While on an active call, you can activate Handsfree mode. This disables the handset receiver and allows you to hang up the handset receiver without terminating the call. Diverting a call If you do not wish to answer a call, you can divert it to another internal number (extension or voice mail). Divert 1. Press the interactive Divert key. 2. Dial the number. Intercept a call You can intercept a call to another phone when this phone belongs the same call group. Pick-up 1. Press the interactive Pick-up key. 9
Receiving a call 2. Dial the extension number of the phone you want to intercept the call. Pick-up 3. Press Pick-up again. 4. Pick-up the handset. 10
Forwarding calls Forwarding calls You can forward calls to another extension or to a voice mailbox. Calls can be forwarded immediately or on no answer (delayed). Note: The display, set at rest, of the "All call forwarded" message informs you that an immediate Call Forward has been programmed. Accessing the Call Forward menu 1. Press the Services key on your telephone. 2. Use the navigation keys to highlight the desired option. Select Select 3. Highlight the "Features" line and press the interactive Select key. 4. Highlight the "Telephone services" line and press the Select key. Select 5. Highlight the "Forward" line and press the Select key. Enter a Call Forward number 1. Access the Call Forward menu. 2. Dial the internal Call Forward number. 3. Select the type of Call Forward using the interactive keys: Immed. or Delayed Immediate: all calls are forwarded immediately to the Call Forward number. A "Forward all calls to..." message is displayed on your screen. Delayed: calls are forwarded after a few rings. A "Forward on no answer to..." message is displayed on your screen. 11
Forwarding calls Modify or cancel a Call Forward When Call Forward is activated, the Call Forward type and the number are specified in the Call Forward menu. To modify: 1. Access the Call Forward menu. Edit 2. Press the Edit key. Delete 3. Use the Delete key to erase the existing number 4. Enter the new number. Immed. or Delayed 5. Select the type of Call Forward. Note: You can modify the Call Forward type and not the extension number. To cancel: 1. Access the Call Forward menu. Edit 2. Press the Edit key. Cancel Press the interactive Cancel key. A message acknowledging the modification or cancellation is displayed. 12
Functions available during a call Functions available during a call Calling a second correspondent (double call) While talking with your correspondent, you can reach a second one. The first correspondant is placed on hold. 1) Using the phone number : Call 1. Press the Call key. 2. Dial the number of the second correspondent. Call 3. Press the Call key again. 1) Using the Directory or the Log : Press the Directory key and proceed to the call by name (see page 7). or ou Press one of the Log keys to make the call from the list (see page 8). Toggling between two correspondents When you are on line with the second correspondant, the first line of your screen indicates that you are in double call mode. The names of your correspondents are displayed with the name of the party you are calling displayed at the top and highlighted. The other correspondent is placed on hold. You can speak alternately with two correspondents. Switch Press the interactive Switch key. The display indicates the name of the party on line. 13
Functions available during a call Returning to the first correspondent This action terminates the call with the second correspondent. Recover Press the Recover key. Three-way conference call While in communication with two correspondents (double call), you can set up a three-way conference call: Call transfer Conf. Press the interactive Conf. key. This puts you in simultaneous communication with your two correspondents.the first line of your screen confirms the conference mode. To transfer a call during call in progress: Transf. 1. Press the Transf. key. 2. Dial the transfer number (extension, voice mail box) Transf. 3. Press the Transf. key. The call is transferred. Note: To transfer a call during a double call or a three-party conference, hang up. The two conference parties remain on line. Put a call on hold (Park) and retrieve it on another set (Unpark) The Park and Retrieve function allows you to interrupt an active communication and retrieve it from another phone in the group. While in communication with a correspondent: Park 1. Press the interactive Park key. Your correspondant hears an on hold tone. 14
Functions available during a call Retrieve the communication from another set: Unpark 2. Press the interactive Unpark key. 3. Dial the number of the set that you just left. Unpark 4. Press the interactive Unpark key again to confirm. 5. Pick-up the handset and resume your conversation. 15
Other features Other features Notify The correspondent you are trying to reach does not answer. You can send him a short message using the "Notify" function. Note: This function can be used only for calls to a digital set with a display screen. Notify Send Delete 1. Press the Notify key. The screen displays a predefined message. 2. You can: Send the message displayed by pressing the interactive Send key. or i. Modify the text by deleting the characters using the Delete key. ii. Enter the new text using the keys on the alphanumeric keypad. Send iii. Send the message displayed by pressing the interactive Send key. 3. The following confirmation message is displayed "Message sent. Do you want to recover the call?". YES or NO Answer using one of the interactive YES or NO keys. 16
Other features Managing the Log The last calls made or received are stored in the incoming and outgoing logs. You can browse, call, delete log entries or empty either of the Logs. Caution: The log is limited to 20 calls. When the log is full, the oldest messages are automatically purged. or 1. Press the Log keys. 2. Use the navigation keys to highlight a name: Select Use the interactive Select key to browse the information about the log record (date and time of call, correspondent's name and number). Prev. More You can go to the previous or next log record using the Previous and More keys. Call Delete Empty To make a call from the list or from the log record, press the interactive Call key. Press the Delete key to delete the highlighted log entry. The interactive Empty key deletes the entire content of the log. 17
Programming keys Programming keys The five black keys on the top of the display screen are customizable. Each allows the programming of an internal number that can be supervised. Supervision allows you: to see the state of supervised set(s) according to the associated icon: Free Called Busy to intercept the calls of the supervised set, press the customizable key with the blinking icon. to call one of the supervised sets directly, press the corresponding customizable key. Supervision programming 1. Press the Services key. Select Key Modify Erase or Superv. 2. In the Services menu, select the "Program a key" option and confirm by pressing the Select key. 3. To the "What do you want to program?" message, answer by pressing the interactive Key key. 4. "Press the selected key" message prompts you to select the key. The display screen indicates the state of the selected key: "This key is not programmed", "Supervising on"... 5. To modify the state of the key, press the interactive Modify key. (In case you want to cancel the programming of the key, press Erase and follow the instructions.) 6. To the "Type of service?" message, answer by pressing the Superv. key. 18
Programming keys Set and Valid. The screen displays "What do you want to supervise?". Press the Set interactive key. 7. Dial the number of the set and press on Valid. Your screen displays "Alias key:" and Valid. 8. Enter the title of your key. Confirm by pressing Valid. Your set displays an acknowledgement message. 19
Configuration - Adjustements Configuration - Adjustements Accessing the configuration menu It is possible to make certain adjustments or to modify the configuration of your set. These functions are grouped in the Configuration menu accessible by the following way: 1. Press the Services key. A list of menus is displayed in which the first line is automatically highlighted. 2. Use the navigation keys to highlight the Configuration option. Select 3. Press Select to confirm your selection. Select 4. In the Configuration menu, select one of the option below. Reminder: To cancel a current action, press on the key. Change language 1. Access the Configuration menu and select Change Language. 2. Highlight the language of your choice. Select 3. Validate using the Select key. Prev. Press Prev. to return to the previous screen without validation. 20
Configuration - Adjustements Change directory number This function allows you to assign a directory number to your telephone which will be associated with its IP address the first time you use your telephone. This function also allows you to change the directory number of an extension in order to forward calls. 1. Access the Configuration menu and select Change directory number (see page 20). 2. Dial the directory number. 3. Enter the code. Confirm 4. Press the Confirm key. Change ringing tone 1. Access the Configuration menu and select Change ringing tone (see page 20). 2. Highlight the ringer melody of your choice. Test Confirm 3. Press the interactive Test key to hear the ringer selection. 4. Press Confirm to confirm your choice. Adjust volume 1. Access the Configuration menu and select Adjust volume (see page 20). + - 1. Adjust the volume using the + or - keys. 21

This option displays the properties of your phone such as its IP address, serial number (Cpeid) and software release. Note: In some of the option above, the Prev. key is displayed.
