INVOLVEMENT IN SPORT I m currently the President of SASCOC, South Africa s umbrella governing body of sport. I m also Vice-President of the Commonwealth Games Federation. My involvement in sport stretches back more than three decades, and began as a competitive athlete at school and college levels where I played rugby at various levels. After years of active participation in sport I moved on to the administration aspect. ACADEMIC AND EDUCATION A trained teacher by profession I ve served in various academic positions and been a headmaster of various schools as well as lecturing at the Cape College of Education and the University of Fort Hare. I m also honoured to be the holder of the following degrees obtained at the University of Fort Hare: Bachelor of Arts (History and Languages} Bachelor of Education BA (Hons) (Language) I also have a BA (Hons) (Sports Management) degree from the University of Johannesburg (formerly RAU). Also, I have been intricately involved in the formation and management of non-governmental organisations in the fields of education, business, sport and social issues.
INVOLVEMENT IN BUSINESS Outside of sport my interest in business started with the Independent Business Enrichment Centre (IBEC), a pioneer in the promotion of small businesses through financial and non-financial support. My experience gained from chairing the Board of Directors of IBEC led to ventures in investments in many sectors and there followed directorships on various company boards.
