Drug and Alcohol Screening Service The Drug & Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is the first point of contact for adults with a drug or alcohol problem. We offer a free and confidential service to all those living in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead. New clients are seen by a Screening and Assessment Worker. After an initial assessment, a plan focussing on the client s short and long-term goals will be developed. If appropriate, they will then be referred to the SMART treatment service for further support. The Drug & Alcohol Screening Service can be accessed through self referrals or referrals from a GP or any other agency. Substitute Prescribing Substitute prescribing is used to administer substances that replace heroin such as methadone or subutex. It enables consumption to be controlled, stabilised and gradually reduced as appropriate. Key working is carried out alongside the prescribing as is drug testing depending on the client s level of stability. There are three tiers of prescribing services: Alongside GPs from the Claremont Surgery (Maidenhead), SMART runs a Specialist Prescribing Service from its building. This service provides prescriptions and key-working sessions for chaotic or complex drug users with high level needs such as for those who are pregnant or have a dual diagnosis. For those who are more stable but are not able to be seen within their own GP surgery, a Community Prescribing Service also operates from the SMART building, with key working from SMART workers. Where clients are stable and have a GP who is signed up to a scheme called Shared Care, they will be prescribed to by that GP, but will also be seen by a key worker from SMART. CONTACT US: This service can be contacted through SMART. 4 See page 3 for details.

Young People s Substance Misuse Service This service is for anyone in the borough under the age of 18 who would like advice or support around their own substance misuse or that of a family member. The service is free and confidential and can provide young people with anything from information on the effects of drugs and alcohol to treatment for their own use. Young people can self refer to the service or can be referred by any professional. 5 CONTACT US: Office: 01628 796518 Theresa Allen, Young People s Worker Mob: 07766 628 970 Sarah Dobinson, Young People s Worker Mob: 07717 586 287
