3 ODLHAM DRUG & ALCOHOL TREATMENT & RECOVERY SYSTEM INTRODUCTION The aim of this publication is to give an overview of the main drug and alcohol treatment and recovery services including programmes currently operating in Oldham. The information was compiled by the Drug & Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) based within the Integrated Commissioning Hub of Oldham Council. The key priority of DAAT is to co-ordinate and commission activities, programmes and services aimed at supporting people to recover from addiction and prevent the on-set of problematic drug and alcohol use in our neighbourhoods. Within the framework of the National Drugs Strategy, the commissioners take decisions on expenditure and service delivery, in order to deliver effective and successful outcomes for people experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol. There are four key areas: Building resilience in communities and contributing to tackling drug-related crime. Preventing harm to young people and families and preventing re-presentations into treatment. Delivering new approaches to drug treatment focused on recovery and successful outcomes. Informing the public and engaging the community. Should you wish to contact the Oldham DAAT team, please call on or use alternative contact details at the end of this booklet. 3
