TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH Your partner for certifications and operational safety

Independent quality certification and legal security from a single source Certificates as objective proof of quality, legal security as key success factor TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH, a subsidiary of TÜV AUSTRIA Group, is an international certification and inspection company which enjoys an excellent international reputation in the areas of quality, safety, the environment, service and technology. Due to its integration into TÜV AUSTRIA HOLDING AG, TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH has access to a unique network of experts. Together with our international partners, we contribute worldwide to the success and growth of your customers. TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH is accredited for a variety of management systems, person and product certifications. In addition, we constantly work on the development of new contemporary certifications to support our customers in the future in the best way. 1. Certification of Management Systems The certification of management systems is becoming increasingly important due to national and international competition. A certification confers internal benefits such as increased legal security and process transparency within the company, as well as highlighting deficiencies and consequently providing opportunities for improvement. Certificates also increase the trust business partners, investors and authorities have in your company. Quality Quality will remain an essential, if not decisive, competitive factor in the future. The shortening of product and service cycles and the rapid pace of technological progress, combined with globalization and technical networking, demand a reliable, tailored, highly practical and non-bureaucratic management system, necessary for longterm success. ISO 9001: Quality Management Systems ISO 29990: Training and Education ISO TS 16949: Automotive Industry Environment More and more companies and not least the public are demanding references about their suppliers actions in terms of environmental protection. In addition, rising energy, water and waste costs have an impact on business results. The implementation of environmental management systems can help to meet these challenges permanently by providing a better balance between efficiency and responsible use of resources. ISO 14001: Environmental Management System EMAS validation Waste Management Company (EFB) ISO 50001: Energy Management Systems Sustainability Reports Health and Safety at Work Based on an analysis of employee hazards, illnesses and accidents, the processes within a company are documented and then gradually improved. Through consistent emergency management, targeted training, regular monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of the management system, the risks for a company are noticeably reduced. OHSAS 18001: Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems SCC: Safety Certificate for Contractors SCP: Safety Certificate for Personal Services SA 8000 (Social Accountability): Minimum Social Standards in a Company Integrated Health Management System: TÜV AUSTRIA Standard (salutogenesis) Food Safety and Hygiene Safety in the production of impeccable food is a basic requirement for producers and distributors to meet both legal requirements and the needs of an increasingly critical market. The primary responsibility for food safety lies in selfmonitoring. In order to be enforced, a company s principles must first be defined and then reflected in its management systems. ISO 22000: Management Systems for Food Safety HACCP: Risk Management Systems for Food Companies EN 14065: Control Systems for Textiles, laundry processed textiles, bio-contamination control system EN 15593: Management of Hygiene in the Production of Food Packaging ISO 14159: Hygiene Requirements for the Design of Machinery In cooperation with TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS and other partners TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH offers additionally following certifications: GFSI supported Food Safety Standards for Trade, BRC IoP: Packaging Standard IFS-Food (all types), IFS-Broker, BRC (England), FSCC 22000, PAS 220, SQF (USA), QS (Germany), Dutch HACCP, Prefarmgate: Global GAP, GMP fefco, GMP+ for Feed (but not for transport) For fish: MSCC, BIO Gost Certificates for Russia Sustainable Timber Management and Forestry In times of increased environmental awareness, when buying wood and products made from wood, customers pay attention to whether or not it has come from sustainably managed forests. PEFC: Programme for Endorsement of Forest FSC : Forest Stewardship Council Transportation Transparency, quality and safety are demanded not only in individual establishments but throughout the entire supply chain. With a certificate in the transportation sector, the gap between production and trade establishments may be closed. Hence, the security processes along the entire supply chain can be guaranteed.

EN 13816: Transportation, Logistics and Services, Public Transport ISO 28000: Security Management Systems for the Supply Chain IFS Logistic: International Featured Standard Logistic SQAS: Logistics Services in the Chemical Industry Health Care Systems Thanks to technical innovations, enhanced progress and increasing globalization, the health care sector is exposed to constant innovations and change. Institutions and processes in health facilities must be based on patients needs, but these should not affect medical quality and efficiency. Continuous improvement, avoidance of mistakes and the professional handling of those mistakes must be the concern of all parties involved. EN 15224: Service Providers in Health Care (patient safety) ISO 13485: Design and Manufacture of Medical Devices Legionella Safe Facilities: Standard for Drinking Water Systems (ÖNORM B 5019) Integrated Health Management Systems: TÜV AUSTRIA Standard (salutogenesis) CTQ: Cooperation for Transparency and Quality in Health Care QMS-REHA Diversity Management The power of diversity is indisputable and often contributes to company success. Diversity Management is therefore seen as a strategic managerial approach. Certifiable Standard ÖNORM S 2501 IT System Certifications Information Security Management and IT Security Management form part of Corporate Risk Management as one of the most important tasks of a business, since all of a company s business processes are dependent on information and the regulated flow of information. To this end, a practical system of rules and effective i.e. living processes are necessary to define, control, maintain and secure information security. ISO 27001: Information Security ISO/IEC 20000: IT Service Management Integrated Management Systems (IMS) More and more companies are deciding to integrate environmental protection, energy and safety management into their existing quality management systems. Since many standards are derived from ISO 9001, they can be combined and the resulting synergies can benefit the company. Industry Certificates Together with its customers, TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH develops industry-based certification standards to meet the increasing demands for quality and safety of products and services. An industry-specific certification significantly strengthens a certificate holder s market position. 4. Technology & Law Being knowledgeable about Austrian, or rather European legislation can be a challenge for many businesses. Within TÜV Austria it is the job of the Technology and Law department to carry out inspections of all legal areas of a company. As the only accredited inspections body in Austria, for many of these tasks the Technology and Law employees carry out their work as highly trained technicians with a high level of legal knowledge too. Inspection under 82b Trade Regulation Act Under trade law, every operational plant must have an inspection every five years, with or without an official invitation, to check that it complies with its permit and other trade regulations. Inspection under 134 Section 4 Water Act For all facilities relating to the storage or management of substances hazardous to water, every precaution must be taken to protect the water. The water tightness of containers and pipelines in particular are tested at intervals not exceeding five years. This does not apply if the authority under consideration prescribes to a shorter interval due to particular circumstances. Inspection under 19a Railway Act Every company that operates a railway (and even if it s only a connecting track!) and has no certified safety management system in accordance with 19a Railway Act, has the legal duty to undergo inspection every five years, to ensure that the railway system, including the rail cars, complies with the provisions of the Railway Act and railway law regulations and decrees. Approval Process, Submission Projects In most cases any changes to the operational plant must be submitted to the relevant authorities for approval. So that facilities do not become legally unsafe, which could potentially threaten their existence. The problem is that with one or more applications for various legal matters, like building permits, water rights, nature protection laws, or energy law approval, an official trade license may be required first of all. With the assistance of TÜV AUSTRIA experts time as well as costs can be saved during this demanding task. Environmental Law Register, Decree Database Using Technodat s syneris software the TÜV AUSTRIA experts are able to create a tailor-made permit database for the facility, for the management of legal authorizations (water, building and trade authorizations) as well as creating one that is adapted to operational relationships to the Environmental Law Register. Inspection under 14a Pipeline Law According to Pipeline Law, the condition of pipelines, which are used for the commercial transport of goods, have to be tested every ten years. Inspection under 140 The Gas Act In order to ensure that they comply with existing regulations and permits, owners have to have natural gas pipelines checked regularly. These inspections refer only to existing Austrian law. They can however also be carried out in accordance with Austrian law for companies, plants and facilities in other countries.

3. Certification of Persons Due to the rapid changes and developing needs of the labor market, certifications have become a necessity for individuals. Compared to a life-long qualification from a university or similar education provider, personal certificates always prove a current competence and therefore commitment to ongoing training and evidence of practice. This makes it possible to raise the level of professionalism and to reflect current practice knowledge in a qualification. The range of TÜV AUSTRIA-certified qualifications in the areas of service, quality, technology, safety, environment, etc. is continuously expanding and comprises, among others: Welders and Brazers Environmental Managers, Officers, Auditors Experts according to ÖNORM F 1053 Process Managers Quality Managers, Officers, Auditors Wound Managers Energy Officers, Auditors Safety Experts (SFK) Event Managers Image Consultants Seniors Coaches Professional Applicators for External Thermal Insulation Composite Systems Medical Devices Consultants Trainers in Adult Education 4. Product Certification A product certification means the confirmation of a product s conformity with certain requirements as defined by standards, laws and regulations. Since conventional standards rarely take into account usability, user-friendliness and quality, such confirmation often only meets a product s minimum requirements. For this reason, TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH has developed a new and profound kind of product certification. Through site visits, surveys, laboratory and user tests, products are user-specifically tested. Only when all these individual tests have been passed, submitted products will receive a certification. After initial recognition by TÜV AUSTRIA, the products are monitored regularly for compliance with the criteria according to strict quality assurance. All kinds of products are certifiable, along with methods, processes and services.

5. Agricultural Controls (LAKO) The demand of consumers on manufacturers, processing plants and trade is constantly growing and thus there is an ever-increasing need for quality control in agriculture. Through the introduction of its own quality label/certification mark and the resulting distinction between food retailers, the production of sustainably produced and local quality products is encouraged. At the same time, adherence to regulations concerning food safety will be stringently controlled by legislature. In order to take this need into account TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH has created a separate department for agricultural control, whose goal is to offer a comprehensive range of services in agricultural production and quality assurance. This includes national and European promotional controls, sustainability and environmental controls as well as monitoring of the environment, hygiene, conservation and protection of plants. Overview of Services Controls for quality assurance in the agricultural sector Cross compliance controls (agricultural promotion controls) Pesticide controls Controls for feed safety Controls of animal health services Controls on food quality labels Sample draws and analyses What is a certification? A certificate is the result of a successful assessment by an objective and independent third party such as the certification body of TÜV AUSTRIA, proving that a company, person or product meets the requirements of a national or international standard. Unlike attestations or references, all certificates confirm a currently valid condition and are therefore indispensable instruments of quality assurance. Objectivity as a Guarantee for your Safety and Optimum Performance! Only objective testing guarantees safety. An independent institution was founded in 1872 for that reason. Today, TÜV AUSTRIA is an independent testing, inspection, monitoring and certification company. Therefore, TÜV AUSTRIA has absolutely no financial relationship with or dependence on any authorities, industry, trade, business, operators or any other parties. Subsidiaries in more than 20 countries and worldwide partners guarantee optimum support even beyond Austria s borders. The auditors and testers of TÜV AUSTRIA CERT GMBH have many years of experience and are always at the state of the art of technical as well as legal developments thanks to continuous further education. These controls refer only to existing Austrian law. They can however also be carried out in accordance with Austrian law for clients and customers in other countries.
