WILD-ONe was created by the Wildlife Center of Virginia Originally known as Project Tripwire Utilizes standardized terminology created by the Clinical Wildlife Health Initiative (CHWI), the International Species Information System (ISIS), and the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS). Coming SOON! 1
This system makes the collection of patient information a simple and routine process The admission log includes information on all patients that is both accurate and consistent, making access to, and use of, intake information easier and more effective What YOU see is added to what everyone else sees to provide a big-picture overview. Generate annual permits Review and analyze intake patterns Budget review Fundraising/Mailing Lists Communication By working together, using a single set of data collection tools, the wildlife rehabilitation community could provide the most comprehensive picture of wildlife health issues ever seen in North America. Specific data fields are complied into a centralized database from all system users to extend our knowledge and understanding of wildlife health issues Species Gender Life stage Patient number Rescue location Rescue date Circumstances of Injury Anatomical site of injury Categorization of injury Release/placement location Disposition date Disposition Federal band number (if present) WILD-ONe will be hosted on and operate from highly secure servers The data contained on these servers is routinely backed up Even deleted information on your account can be retrieved from the server. WILD-ONe will also allows users to download patient records into an Excel spreadsheet at any time Absolutely not!! You will always own and have access to your data Your use of WILD-ONe will not compromise your intellectual property rights By using the system, you will only share the portion of your patient intake record that is already public information (13 data fields) Information included in State and Federal reports is considered public information Information on contacts, donations, medications, meals, procedures, etc. are NOT shared with others unless you chose to do so. 2
Only if already identified under State or Federal laws Only people approved by each organization s administrator may access the patient management system. Hierarchy of access levels within the organization Pooled public information data will eventually be accessible by the rehabilitation community Wildlife agencies already have the authority to review your records and see your intake log Already reportable under public health and agricultural regulations Participation in WILD-ONe will not change this at all; it will just make it easier to comply with agency request for information The goal is to make WILD-ONe available to wildlife care facilities at little or no cost In return, participating centers will be asked to commit a concerted effort to gather and enter data on their patients accurately and consistently WCV is seeking third-party funding in order to operate and improve the system The WILD-ONe database, with some modifications, can be used by many groups, including governments, industry, and researchers WILD-ONe may be used to document any type of wildlife morbidity and mortality information, from oil spills and road kill to hunter harvest and power line collisions NO market for public information Participation in the WILD-ONe system is strictly voluntary To participate, you just have to agree to comply with the terms of use and follow the standardized data collection protocols 3
