Bet Types: Locating This tutorial serves as a guide to locating the various bet types on the relevant bookmaker websites. Although bookmaker websites differ in layouts there are general similarities that mean it is easy to locate events once familiar with the basic format of bookmaker websites. Once you are on a bookmaker website the first step is to ensure that you can view the menu of sports (typically, although not always, the menu of sports will be located on the left hand side). If you are unable to view the menu of sports it is likely that you will be required to click on another option. Common options are: The term Sport, Sportsbook, Wagering Menu or any similar terms; Click on a language, flag or region of a map etc Some bookmakers will even require you to be logged in to view the prices. To locate the relevant event for the trade the Group Code is essential. The Group Code advises the Sport, Region and Tournament that the trade applies to. See the Group Code tutorial for an in depth explanation of the Group Code.
Step 1: Once you have identified the sports menu click on the sport specified by the Group Code.
Once the sport has been clicked on, commonly one of two options will occur. Either the list of regions and tournaments will open below the sport where you have clicked, as displayed below. Soccer has expanded to display regions and tournaments
Or the list of regions and tournaments will open within the middle of the screen, as displayed below. NOTE: These are not the only two methods because a bookmaker can change how their site operates at will, however they are the most common methods.
Step 2: Click on the country/region/tournament specified by the Group Code. Once you have clicked the country/region/tournament a list of matches will typically be displayed i. Click sport Once you have clicked on Sport, Region and Tournament a list of matches and odds will be displayed ii. Click region iii. Click tournament NOTE: The sport menu will function slightly different from bookmaker to bookmaker. For example some might have check boxes next to the sports and tournaments which require you to check each box before clicking to select an option or something similar. Pinnacle is a common example of a different method where you are required to click the + symbol next to the sport. Always click on the words first rather than using check boxes.
Step 3: Identify your bet type. By now you should be familiar with the bet type you are trading on by identifying it as displayed below. Usually the first odds displayed on the bookmaker sites after step 2 are the odds for Match Winner. If the odds type displayed are the same odds type that your selected trade uses then you have located the event and odds correctly. IF the odds type you are looking for is not displayed on the bookmaker site after step 2 please continue with step 4.
Step 4: Locate different bet types. As stated above, the general rule is that the first odds displayed by a bookmaker are the odds for the Match Winner. Different bookmaker sites can provide a variety of ways to display different/addition bet types. The most common method is via a number next to a match, this is why it is essential to first identify your match/event. This number indicated the number of addition bets available on the event. As below, if you wanted to trade on Over/Under for Everton v Man City you would click the +74 to see the 74 additional bets for this event. By clicking on the numbers displayed all additional bet types for the selected event will then appear. The method above is the most common way to view the addition bets types available. Many bookmakers also offer a menu to change the displayed bet types for all matches displayed. See example on the following page.
Using the methods advised throughout this tutorial you will now be able to locate the event and importantly the bet type quickly and easily. For additional information on bet types please see the Bet Type Explanation tutorial.
Bet Type Examples: Over/Under: When trading on an Over/Under outcome it is essential to not only verify the teams playing and the odds but also the Over/Under mark. Bookmakers offer a variety of different potential outcomes so if the platform advises to trade on Over 2.5 ensure that is the outcome traded upon and not Over 3.5 or 4.5 goals etc. Ensure info is the same on platform and bookmaker site: Teams, Odds and Goals
Handicaps: Similarly to Over/Under trades, when trading on Handicaps (Asian Handicaps) it is essential to not only verify the teams playing and the odds but also the handicap. As you can see from the example above there are 4 different handicap variables. When trading ensure the handicap variable you select on the bookmaker website exactly matches the handicap specified on the platform. Ensure is the same on platform and bookmaker site: Teams, Odds and Handicap
