ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY TECHNICIAN CLASSES FALL 2015 REGISTRATION PROCEDURE Joliet Junior College utilizes a closed registration system for the EKG Technician training courses. *STUDENTS INTERESTED IN REGISTERING FOR THESE CLASSES FOR THE FALL 2015 SEMESTER MUST SUBMIT AN ALLIED HEALTH APPLICATION FORM (SEE BELOW) NO LATER THAN MAY 1 ST, 2015. AVAILABLE SEATS WILL BE ASSIGNED BY LOTTERY. IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS PROGRAM, STUDENTS MUST HAVE AN EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE IN HEALTHCARE, OR BE PREPARING TO ENTER A HEALTHCARE DEGREE PROGRAM. STUDENTS SELECTED WILL BE NOTIFIED BY MAIL, AND WILL ALSO RECEIVE MORE INFORMATION REGARDING HEALTH/OTHER REQUIREMENTS, ALONG WITH A DUE DATE. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. 2015 FALL ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY This training program is designed to prepare students for non-invasive electrocardiography procedures: identifying rhythms and rhythm abnormalities, performing 12-lead electrocardiograms, and telemetry unit monitoring. This program is offered to students who are high school graduates or GED students interested in a health career working in a hospital or clinic. The curriculum will prepare students to function as an EKG Technician in a hospital and/or clinic; it will also provide current healthcare workers with additional skills. Once the program is completed, students may write for national certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing International. www.cci-online.org To earn a Certificate of Completion, the following classes are required: NA 122 Basic Electrocardiography Tech 4.0 credits NA 125 Basic Electrocardiography Tech Pract. 1.5 credits TOTAL CREDITS: 5.5 CREDITS All questions may be directed to 815-280-2463. Students will be assigned one full week (40 hours, M-F) of clinical time. Dates/times will be determined by the instructor. The one week of clinical will be assigned within the designated dates for NA 125. PRE-REQUISITES: HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR GED and: COMPASS placement into ENG 021 and ENG 099 or ENG 096, OR the EAP course sequence ENG 078 and ENG 088 47 or higher- Writing 66 or higher- Reading OR C or better in one of the following: ENG 020 and ENG 098, or the EAP course sequence ENG 077 and ENG 087
