Sudan is particularly concerned with impacts of climate change Majority of its land is sensitive to changes in temperature and precipitation. weak infrastructure food security is mainly determined by rainfall more than 70% of Sudan population is directly dependant on climate-sensitive resources for their livelihoods

IES Objectives Encourage and promote inter-and multidisciplinary Environmental research. Offer post-graduate programs in environ. sciences. Organise training courses and to develop skills aiming to solve environmental problem. Assist and advise in introducing environmental education at the school and university levels. Promote a wider understanding of environmental problems both within the university and among the general public, through publications, conferences, workshops and public lectures. Undertake consultancy studies on environmental problems for the government and private sectors.
