Discoveries Wildlife Surveys 2004-2008 Findings and conclusions

I was looking for an activity which involved surveying hedgerows. This page has saved me time, as it's wonderfully laid out, and very informative, especially for gathering all the plant details. Website feedback June 2008

Ancient tree survey Ancient trees recorded in Leicestershire & Ancient trees recorded in community survey Ancient trees designated as Wildlife Sites

Hedgerow survey Hedgerows are particularly important in Leicestershire and as the two counties have a low percentage of woodland cover. Hedges act as a substitute habitat and as corridors linking other habitats. Hedgerows are important habitat for many species of bird, bats and insects. Older or more species-rich hedges have greater biodiversity value. Leicester, Leicestershire & Biodiversity Action Plan.
