Half a century on, we are still innovating. We were the first top management school to have two full-fledged campuses. Now we have three: Europe (Fontainebleau, France), Asia (Singapore) and Middle East (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates) each region offering you new business perspectives and career opportunities. Over the past decade we have also extended our range of degrees to meet the needs of different participants. We offer a Global Executive MBA programme for experienced managers and two specialised Executive Masters one which is a Master in Finance, while the other is a Master in Consulting and Coaching for Change. Just like the full-time MBA, these modular programmes are intense, efficient methods to accelerate or reorient your career in a distinctively international context. Today we have further broadened that international scope by forging exchange and dual degree partnerships with top schools in the USA and China. Those who participate get not just one but two premium business education brands on which to build their futures. Most importantly, no matter which programme you choose, the international mix of world-leading faculty and high-achieving students in our classrooms will give you an intellectual and leadership edge. Learning in an environment where there is no dominant culture will open your mind to ideas and opportunities that you could never otherwise have imagined. And take it from our alumni you will have the most extraordinary fun at the same time. By the time you graduate from INSEAD, you will have the insights and the skills, the energy and the inspiration not to mention an unparalleled global network of around 50,000 friends and contacts across 170+ countries to achieve your ambitions anywhere in the world. INSEAD Degree Programmes Powered by Faculty and Research World Experts Thanks to INSEAD s global scope and commitment to research, we are able to attract academics who are leaders in their fields. Nearly all of our faculty have a PhD from one of the world s top business schools and a proven research record. As a result, you can expect to encounter powerful new ideas everyday on any of our degree programmes. Prominent Publications Blue Ocean Strategy, The Innovator s DNA, The Global Innovation Report or The 100 Best-Performing CEOs in the World these are just a few high-profile INSEAD titles that you might have encountered. Our professors are publishing constantly from articles in A-list academic journals to award-winning case studies for the classroom. Commitment to Teaching INSEAD has a distinctly strong teaching culture, with extensive training and mentoring for junior faculty. Our professors value student feedback and annual INSEAD teaching prizes as highly as academic citations and awards from learned societies. Multiple Viewpoints Diversity characterises our faculty as much as it does our student body. Nearly 150 professors from more than 35 countries are resident across our 3 campuses. They are great minds who think differently. That means you don t get just one answer at INSEAD. You get all the possible answers. Real-World Relevance Much more than just teachers and researchers, our faculty work as consultants and are board members for companies around the world. Many were practitioners or entrepreneurs before becoming professors. You ll see their names regularly in the international media and listings of business influencers, such as the Thinkers50. The power of the multicultural exchanges is off the chart. The two-way transfer of knowledge is very rewarding. Hal Gregersen American The Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank Chaired Professor of Innovation and Leadership Co-author of The Innovator s DNA Laurence Capron French Professor of Strategy The Paul Desmarais Chaired Professor of Partnership and Active Ownership Co-author of Build, Borrow, or Buy: Solving the Growth Dilemma I ve taught at a lot of business schools. Most of them talk about being global, but at INSEAD it s a reality. We understand the implications of working across three time zones, because we do it every day. That s why we re able to address the challenges of international business so well in our degree programmes. Within the classroom, there are usually 15 nationalities for every 20 participants. The power of the resulting multicultural exchanges is off the chart. On any INSEAD degree programme you learn to be a global business leader because you have to behave like one every day. INSEAD is a vibrant international and intellectual community. More importantly, our degree programme students all arrive with experience. Many have been through postmerger challenges, have worked in strategic consultancies or have helped to scale up an entrepreneurial firm. That means I can anchor my research in their experiences and enrich my own knowledge. The two-way transfer is very rewarding. Best of all, our degree participants are in a position to make a mark on businesses worldwide. More and more are becoming entrepreneurs or working in emerging markets. I just love the fact that they re using my research on how to grow companies to make an impact. 06 07
Our Global Presence MBA Programme As one of the world s leading business schools and certainly the most international, INSEAD is well-placed to make an impact on your career. INSEAD is unique in having a three-campus structure, with one campus in Fontainebleau, France, one in Singapore and one in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The campuses are equally diverse and all of them have world-class faculty in residence, and most programmes also give you the opportunity to spend time on more than one campus. Europe Campus Spread across 8 hectares, INSEAD s Europe Campus is located in the historic town of Fontainebleau, approximately 65 kms south of Paris. Nestled along the vast forest of Fontainebleau, the contemporary architecture of the campus blends perfectly with its natural surroundings and provides facilities of the highest standard. One year to challenge your thinking, change your outlook and choose your future. 11 13 16 17 Introduction Curriculum Overview Exchanges & Partnerships Career Development Asia Campus INSEAD has been in Singapore for over 30 years, with an official campus opened in October 2000, which firmly marked INSEAD s commitment to Asia, and the global learning environment. INSEAD s Asia campus is situated in the greenery of the Buona Vista area, Singapore s knowledge hub, and is just 25 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the financial district. Abu Dhabi Campus INSEAD s newest Campus is conveniently located in Abu Dhabi s business centre, just 25 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the Corniche. The new 12-storey, 6000 square-metre building, purposely designed for executive education, presents a whole new world of possibilities for management education in the Middle East. 08 09
MBA Programme Our MBA programme is known as the most international and is also unquestionably one of the best. It has been ranked in the Financial Times global top ten for over a decade now. Even more impressively, INSEAD has achieved this with a programme that s just ten months long which means only one year of fees and one year out of the job market for its participants. Or, as our alumni put it, it s the best year of your life. And that brings us straight back to INSEAD s famous diversity. With around 80 nationalities every year none of them predominant you get a stimulating, collaborative and enjoyable learning experience that is hard to match. Another compelling reason to do an MBA at INSEAD, is that it enables you to make a significant career change, whether it's the industry sector, function or geography. In fact, our global footprint matches the global job market. Depending on your aspirations, you can start (or finish) in France or Singapore and, through our exchange programmes, also study in the USA or China. With dedicated career development staff across our two MBA campuses and an alumni network stretching across the entire world, you ll have more than 50,000 people to help you too! 10 11
A Cutting-edge, Real World Curriculum Curriculum Overview The 10-month MBA programme consists of five periods, each lasting eight weeks. At the end of every period, there is an assessment (exam, essay or project) and a short break. The first half of the programme is built around 14 core courses, which provide you with a solid understanding of the key management disciplines. The second half can be tailored to meet your specific needs and career objectives, as you choose 11 electives from a selection of more than 75 courses offered across both campuses and taught from an international perspective. And if you have a passion that s not covered by the list, you can pursue up to two electives worth of Independent Study Projects under faculty supervision. Electives are not confined to the classroom. Many take the form of international field trips to places such as India, China, Silicon Valley, Brazil, Israel and Russia, accompanied by a professor with regional expertise. And for the September intake, there is the opportunity for an extended field trip to our Abu Dhabi Campus, including real consultancy projects with companies in the region. It s very helpful for problem solving to have as many perspectives as you can. I chose INSEAD partly because the school has such a good reputation for entrepreneurship. Ana Blanco Loyo, MBA 13D Mexican Previous education: Masters in Engineering, Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education Previous job: Industrial engineer in the chemical industry Gian Saratz, MBA 13D Swiss Previous education: Master of Science, ETH Zürich Previous job: Co-Founder, Nosh Delivery, China The INSEAD experience is exactly what I expected and more. I love the atmosphere. There are little things that I didn t expect though. For example, I now have a friend from Kyrgyzstan, which was a country I knew very little about! It s easy to assume that people see the world the same way as you do. So at first it can be a little scary that they don t and then it comes to make perfect sense. It s very helpful for problem solving to have as many perspectives as you can. You also realise how people with different experiences, strengths and weaknesses can complement each other. In our group, for example, whenever someone has difficulties understanding something, the others step in to explain. I m also very excited about going to Israel this summer for a study trip with one of the professors. It s an amazing chance to visit companies in a completely new region. And I m about to become co-president of the INSEAD Industry Club, which hopefully means I ll get to bring some new companies to campus during the recruitment season, in addition to the many who have already signed up. I chose INSEAD partly because the school has such a good reputation for entrepreneurship! Before the MBA, I worked at my own start-up business in China, and this year my business partner is overseeing the operations while I do the books and strategy from Singapore. We re just opening our third outlet in Shanghai and are thinking of taking the business nationwide. At INSEAD, I m learning about valuable frameworks and greatly appreciate being able to talk with the available Entrepreneurs In Residence. I also plan to choose lots of entrepreneurship classes when I get to the electives. The organisational behaviour classes were also a huge eye-opener. They made me realise that the critical success factors are human. Soft skills and team dynamics can either kill a project or turn it into a winner. And the INSEAD group assignment structure enables you to apply the organisational behaviour learning directly. The group work also teaches you not to take yourself too seriously it brings you down to earth in a good way. Read more MBA stories http://tinyurl.com/mh4qkov 14 15
Exchanges and Partnerships Career Development Student Exchanges The Wharton School Philadelphia, USA In addition to the dual campus exchange between France and Singapore, students can also choose one period to take electives at Wharton, one of the leading business schools in the US, located on the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia. This is a particularly interesting opportunity for students looking to develop their network and career prospects in North America. INSEAD participants at Wharton have full access to INSEAD's and Wharton s career management services during their time on campus. Kellogg School of Management Evanston, USA CEIBS (China Europe International Business School) Shanghai, China INSEAD students also have the opportunity to study at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in Evanston near Chicago, Illinois. This partnership provides greater choice for INSEAD students who want to spend some time at a US business school. Students will have access to both INSEAD s and Kellogg s career development resources while at Kellogg. The January intake now has the option of studying for one period (period 4 or 5) at CEIBS. They can choose their electives from CEIBS courses and have full access to CEIBS career services with its special expertise in China while in Shanghai. In addition, they have the option to join the CEIBS Alumni network. It is a great opportunity to explore the world s most dynamic economy from the inside and get a head start in doing business there. INSEAD s Career Development Centre, with dedicated specialist career staff on all three campuses in Asia, Europe and the Middle East serves the needs of students and recruiters. Students in each MBA class arrive from successful early careers in all sectors, functions and geographies and move on to even more successful careers in an even wider variety of destinations. Although typically 80% of graduates succeed in changing sector, function and/or geography, the balance between industries and countries shifts each year according to the global employment market. For the classes starting in January, summer jobs and internships are integrated into the services and the timetable. And, increasingly, for all classes, the Career Development Centre provides long-term support for alumni whose worldwide network is perhaps the most valuable career resource of all. Career Development activities in the MBA programme: Workshops covering all aspects of the career orientation and job search processes Dual Degree INSEAD-SAIS Dual-Degree Programme INSEAD and The Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) have joined together to offer a dual MBA/MA degree programme. The dual-degree programme allows students from both schools to work toward completing the SAIS Master of Arts (MA) and the INSEAD MBA simultaneously, with the aim of preparing students for careers that combine international affairs and business administration. Students admitted to both programmes are able to complete the two degrees in two and half years, instead of the three years required to complete the degrees separately, by spending one and a half years at SAIS and one year at INSEAD. This is the advantage of INSEAD from the students perspective. It is an all-discipline, all-industry global management school that offers a real boost for your career. And we also pledge to support you from pre-programme online chats, through helping you find your vocation and start your job search, to securing the right job when you leave. Of course, many of these services also benefit recruiters, who can also choose to promote their brand on campus through sponsoring club activities or offering students project work as an alternative to electives. Career fairs and regular events, such as company presentations, panels, and networking evenings often run in partnership with student clubs Career treks and company visits covering a range of countries and industries On-Campus recruitment and interview preparation, CV book and online job platform Career counselling and coaching INSEAD career coaches and counselors are available to help students define their career paths more clearly in the short and long term 16 17

Global Executive MBA Programme Our Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) programme is the highest-ranked single-school Executive MBA in the world and among the global top 10 in the Financial Times. It is just as international as our famous MBA programme, as it has an intake on each of INSEAD s campuses: Europe (France), Asia (Singapore) and Middle East (UAE). And, no matter where you choose to start, you will have the opportunity to study in all three regions. Why do people choose the INSEAD GEMBA over other top EMBA programmes? One reason is the modular format, which is designed to match the exact needs of busy, highly-experienced working executives. But most participants select the GEMBA to boost their careers and hone their leadership skills. INSEAD s unique Leadership Development Programme runs throughout the course, alongside the cutting-edge curriculum, and this is where we truly have the advantage. Tsinghua-INSEAD EMBA (TIEMBA) The dual-degree Tsinghua-INSEAD EMBA (TIEMBA) provides a fourth option for experienced executives in partnership with China s distinguished Tsinghua University. This unique programme ranked fourth in the Financial Times shares many features with the GEMBA, notably the chance to study at all three INSEAD campuses (plus the Tsinghua campus in Beijing) and the Leadership Development Programme. However, it has a special focus on China, with lessons that can be applied to other high-growth markets. Watch programme video http://tinyurl.com/be42uv3 20 21
Programme Overview You can choose to complete the GEMBA in the way that best suits you. Most people opt to start on the INSEAD campus that s closest to home, but some decide to build their business travel around modules on the other side of the world. Whichever route you select, you will have the opportunity to study on all three campuses and come together as a single class for the second half of the programme. In addition to the time spent on campus, equivalent to 12 working weeks, you will also need to allow roughly 5 weeks in total for independent study: preparation for classes, writing a total of 6 essays, your final project and optional peer work-shadowing. This adds up to about 10 to 12 hours of homework per week. My new role will see me put my business training into practice to shape the strategy for the Middle East operations of my company. A Comprehensive Curriculum 11 Core Courses 4 Elective Courses The first half of the programme reviews, revives and expands your understanding of the fundamentals that all business leaders need. Each course culminates in an exam that tests not only your understanding of the key concepts but also your ability to apply them. These allow you to go into depth in your areas of interest during an intensive two-week session. GEMBA alumni can return for electives in subsequent years. The GEMBA helped me advance my career in a way that would not have been possible before. Before the programme, I was Director of Construction Services at a professional technical services company. I have now moved to a new job as VP Business Development and Strategy at an MNC that specialises in electricity distribution, automation management and the production of installation components for energy management. My new role will see me put my business training into practice to shape the strategy for the Middle East operations of my company. 3 Key Management Challenges Off- Campus Assignments In the real world, management decisions don t always fit into the neat boxes of business school disciplines or company departments. You will also write reflection papers on Sample Course Options * Entrepreneurial Leadership Identifying New Business Opportunities Innovation Your First 100 Days: Surviving the Management Buy-In your chosen Key Management Challenges with a view to improving your future management practice. INSEAD was a safe place to try out different leadership styles. Leadership Development Programme A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity Yukiko Fujio, GEMBA 12 Japanese Executive Director, Strategy Banking I was considering doing a full-time MBA about five years ago and that s when I came across INSEAD, which I thought was unique because of its diversity and international network. I had friends and ex-colleagues who had gone to INSEAD and loved it. The trouble was, I was enjoying my job, so I kept procrastinating until it was too late. Then I realised that, by doing an EMBA, I could inject something new into my job. At that point, I discovered that INSEAD had a Global EMBA and that sealed it. When I applied, I was going through a couple of changes at work. I was adjusting to a broader role, as well as a new geography after having relocated from Japan to Hong Kong. I was also working in a multi-cultural setting. Through the Leadership Development Programme, I was able to work on a lot of things about myself that I had been wanting to address for a long time. INSEAD was a safe place to try out different leadership styles, and helped provide a framework and structure for what I was facing at work. While other schools provide leadership courses as part of the curriculum, INSEAD offers a programme-long customised process that follows and shapes your personal and professional development. This Leadership Development Programme (LDP), devised and run by INSEAD's Global Leadership Centre, combines a range of innovative activities to bring out the leader within you. Founded on the belief that leadership is much more than management, the LDP will give you the skills and awareness to understand your impact on others, to adapt your leadership style to the situation and to strike a balance between reflection and action. Ultimately, it will allow you to develop your own authentic way of leading. Together with your GEMBA colleagues and accompanied by an executive coach, you will be part of a learning group whose diverse members will support, encourage and challenge each other throughout the programme. Most GEMBA graduates remember the LDP as the highlight of the programme. But it is much, much more than a memory. The LDP culminates in an extensive personalised development plan, designed to continue your growth as a leader long after you have graduated. LDP activities include: Team-building exercises Group and individual coaching 360-degree feedback Leader Forums with top business leaders Peer shadowing with fellow participants 26 27

Master in Finance We have taken INSEAD s long expertise in developing international business leaders, added our faculty s established mastery of finance and combined them to create a programme like no other. First, the Master of Finance is modular designed for professionals with at least four years experience, who want to continue their careers in banking, investment or corporate finance while they learn. That makes it unusual. Second, it embeds rigorous, high-level finance and accounting skills in a truly global context. That makes it even rarer. Third, in every session, it integrates technical expertise and international perspectives with the leadership skills that the industry needs. And that makes the INSEAD Master in Finance unique. Put simply, our goal is to prepare the financial leaders of the future. If that matches your career aspirations, the INSEAD Master in Finance is the programme you have been looking for. Programme Overview INSEAD professors aren t just smart: they know how to make their subject engaging too. The Master in Finance programme is held over 20 months and across 2 continents, in 5 modules of 2 3 weeks each. More than that, the months between the modules enable you to apply what you learn and then bring your experiences back into the classroom for expert analysis. This is theory and practice in perfect synergy. In addition to the 12 weeks on campus (4 modules in Singapore and 1 in France), you can expect to do the equivalent of 5 weeks' full-time work off campus: reading, writing, solving problems and cementing the links between your learning and your work. It s a very similar process if you think about it turning real life into mathematical models! Initially, I looked at doing an MBA. But, as soon as I heard about the INSEAD Master in Finance, I knew it was exactly what I wanted: modular, and with a focus on leadership skills, not just technical training. At INSEAD I get industry expertise from academics who are the top researchers in their field. The programme also offers us the opportunity to meet INSEAD EMBA and MBA students on campus. The first module was an exciting experience, but very intense. My initial reaction was: Wow, doing a master s is no joke! But in fact, it turns out that every single professor has such a great sense of humour! INSEAD professors aren t just smart: they know how to make their subject engaging too. 32 33

Also, I work in a field that s project-based, so weekend programmes were not suitable for me. And the fact that the course takes place far away from home is an advantage as this allows me to better focus on it. Before I started the programme I was wondering how I d stay awake for an entire day of classes, but it was an absolute pleasure to attend them. It makes a huge difference to have such a wide range of professional experiences in the classroom and such mature classmates from all over the world. We re always sharing experiences, which makes learning far more interesting. And the faculty are extremely good at facilitating this process. The modules are very intense with exams at the end but we do get a little time for relaxing and building a network over weekends. If you want to work with the best people in the field of organisational change, this is the place. After only two modules, this has greatly increased my self-awareness and I am already seeing benefits at work. Thomas Barta, EMCCC 12 German Marketing Leadership Coach and Consultant Susan Zhang, EMCCC 13 Chinese Senior HR Director In my former role as a partner at McKinsey & Company, I was also a leader of the firm s largest internal senior leadership programme. It turned out to be one of the coolest things I d ever done and I decided to get a thorough grounding in the field. I can confirm the EMCCC was an absolutely unique experience. The quality and rigour of the teaching stand out. If you want to work with the best people in the field of organisational change, this is the place. I currently run my own independent leadership practice and spend half my time advising clients, and the other half researching and writing about leadership in marketing. INSEAD helps with both activities: it s a brand that adds to my credibility with clients and a unique network that gives me access to ideas and thinkers. My ambition is really to leverage my learning at INSEAD to help more and more people develop. As an HR manager, I see so many people struggling with their careers and organisational change. The multicultural aspect of the EMCCC programme is also very important to me. I am Chinese and working in China but for a multinational company with international colleagues. The programme really is very different from anything else on the market. It is a unique way to look deep into yourself and experience a change journey, which will definitely help when you try to help others to become effective leaders and contributors. After only two modules, this has greatly increased my self-awareness and I am already seeing benefits at work. 42 43

Our Alumni In my current role, I find that everything I learnt at INSEAD is still very applicable. While I learnt a lot from the classes, I learnt even more from my fellow students. Alan Heng Loon Chan, MBA 83D Singaporean CEO of Singapore Press Holdings INSEAD provided a great insight into the importance of cross-cultural perceptions and prepared me for my career in the subsequent years. What struck me particularly was the diversity of the participants, with their varied backgrounds and different ways of looking at problems. The INSEAD experience gave me the confidence to examine issues from an economic and business perspective. This has helped me in my civil service career with the Singapore government and also prepared me for board memberships in various organisations. In my current role as CEO of Singapore Press Holdings, I find that everything I learnt at INSEAD is still very applicable. Imoni Akpofure, MBA 94D Nigerian Director, Western Europe at International Finance Corporation Prior to my INSEAD MBA, I was a civil engineer earning a basic engineer s salary and expecting to continue in engineering after graduation. However, my time at INSEAD opened up a world of possibilities which has allowed me, less than 20 years later, to be a Director in the World Bank Group - three levels from the top within my organisation. There were so many highlights in the programme but the best memories I have are of spending time with highly intelligent and fun people who had experiences that were so different from mine. While I learnt a lot from the classes, I learnt even more from my fellow students. INSEAD filled in the gaps in my business knowledge, and gave me a truly global perspective. INSEAD gave me the ability to manage efficiently and respectfully across cultures. Vivienne Cox, MBA 89D British Chairman of Conseil de Surveillance, Vallourec; non- Executive director at Rio Tinto, BG Group, Pearson plc I am sure that my MBA gave me confidence to take on widely different roles; from running all of BP s trading businesses, to being the CEO of Air BP which refuels aircraft in 92 countries around the world. INSEAD filled the gaps in my business knowledge, and gave me a truly global perspective. Best of all though were the people - smart, diverse, challenging. And if it weren t for my INSEAD experience, I suspect I wouldn t be the Chairman of one of France s leading companies today! In those days INSEAD only had the campus in Fontainebleau, but living in France for a year just reinforced my love of the country and that is why I joined the board of Vallourec two years ago, never expecting that they would ask me to chair the company. And of course, it was the friends that I made at INSEAD that I turned to for advice when I was approached to do the job! Laurent Aymard, EMBA 04 French Chief Financial Officer, Yves Saint Laurent (PPR Group) The INSEAD Executive MBA was instrumental for me to succeed in the challenge I undertook a few months after graduation: leaving a corporate finance role within a European-centered firm and moving into a senior executive position at Yves Saint Laurent - a multicultural, global organisation - which at the time was facing a deep turnaround situation. In my new role, I had to lead large teams spread across the world, build vision and plans for the future and go beyond the boundaries of a finance role to reorganise the operational side of the business. INSEAD gave me confidence and prepared me for the very fast and multicultural world of fashion retailing, but even more importantly, it gave me the ability to manage and interact efficiently and respectfully across cultures. These skills helped me to transform the company into what it is now - a successful, fastgrowing and very profitable luxury brand. 48 49
