Innovative Data Protection WOS automatically replicates data to other nodes in the WOS cloud, based on pre-assigned policies. So, even if a drive fails or an entire WOS node goes off-line, data can be retrieved from other nodes. In addition to policy directed replication, WOS 2.0 introduces ObjectAssure, the first erasure code protection mechanism for hyperscale, high-performance cloud storage. ObjectAssure provides complete data protection without relying on replication, enabling single copy environments and expanding usable storage space and reducing overall storage costs. ObjectAssure was developed for WOS customers that require the lowest cost Cloud Storage possible and do not require either multisite collaboration or multiple location disaster recovery. An erasure code provides redundancy by breaking objects into smaller fragments and storing the fragments across different disk drives. Data can then be recovered from any smaller combination of fragments.
