Recruitment of Communications & Marketing Officer (Part-time): Information Pack This information pack provides information for prospective candidates interested in applying for the post of Communications & Marketing Officer for NDR-UK. Attached as appendices are: Appendix 1: Job Description and Person Specification Appendix 2: A summary of principal Terms and Conditions of Employment Who We Are and What We Do NDR-UK is the only diet and nutrition information service provider in the UK with a portfolio of over 300 different resources. We are accredited information providers (Information Standard, NHS England 2013) and publish quality diet and health information written by expert dietitians for the public. The majority of our resources are sold to health professionals who use these in consultations with patients/public to help remind and reinforce dietary changes needed to help prevent, treat and manage a disease. The organisation is a Company Limited by Guarantee and Registered Charity (SC041043). NDR-UK was born out of a Scottish national project (Scottish Diet Sheet Initiative, latterly Scottish Nutrition and Diet Resources Initiative, 1980-2011) and is currently part-funded by the Scottish Government and part self-financing. NDR-UK has become a very successful organisation, but with further potential to grow. We are about to enter a new strategic planning period, so this is a very exciting time to join us! Vision To become the recognised national (UK) authority for the provision of fit-for-purpose nutrition and dietetic resources for dietitians and other health professionals to use with the public to empower them to make changes to their diets to improve their quality of life. Core Values and Aims Respond to the needs of healthcare professionals, the public, health policy and research outcomes. Produce robust (evidence-based, peer-reviewed, patient-tested) resources in relevant formats for the public. Driven by the dietetic and other healthcare professions. The Post We are looking to recruit a Communications & Marketing Officer to join our small but very effective team, to lead on all aspects of raising our profile in order to meet annual business plan targets. This is a challenging role but one which will enable the post holder to demonstrate their abilities and make a real impact to our business. Appendix 1: Job Description Position: Communications & Marketing Officer (0.6 FTE) Reports to: Resource Development Manager (RDM) Job Purpose: To work with RDM and the team to develop and deliver marketing and communications strategies and plans designed to raise the profile of NDR-UK and achieve organisational objectives Key Responsibilities To create and deliver marketing plans for cost-effective marketing activities Associated Tasks Monitor and use social media accounts Update website content Generate and circulate e-newsletters Write articles for publication Source, arrange, attend, evaluate and follow-up on conference exhibitions and events Propose and introduce other methods to raise our profile and achieve organisational objectives To develop and utilise Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases to support communication and marketing activities Review and identify ways of using customer information data to enhance relationships and increase sales Develop and improve our CRM functions To develop and conduct research to support marketing, product development and improved service delivery Conduct customer surveys and report on results Source customer testimonials and case studies Collate data on NDR-UK performance Design and implement research projects into potential new products or services Produce quarterly Board reports To contribute to approaches for external engagement and business development opportunities To develop effective internal and external working relationships Collate information and write content for applications and proposals to external bodies including prospective partners, grant-making bodies and statutory funders etc. Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues Build and maintain external contacts and networks with key organisations, such as BDA, specialist groups, NHS, policy makers and funders, to maximise opportunities for marketing, partnership working and fundraising General To undertake other tasks as directed by the RDM or Chief Executive Officer Working Relationships: INTERNAL: Reports to Resource Development Manager NDR-UK, but works closely with other members of small team EXTERNAL: Partners such as BDA, Scottish Government, potential funders/commissioners of services, third sector organisations, customers and end-users of products

To develop and utilise Customer Relationship Management database to support market activities Communications or Marketing qualification(s), or equivalent level of experience Experience of planning and utilising a range of marketing activities, including social media Ability to adapt writing style to effectively communicate and engage with people of all levels and areas of interest/expertise Good presentation and verbal communication skills Skills in using CRM software, creating and using e- communications Experience of communications/marketing in the third and/or health sector Experience of planning and utilising a range of marketing activities to achieve increased sales income Experience of working in a small organisation and to a limited budget Creativity to apply different approaches Experience of using ACT or other CRM software package Knowledge of social marketing 3. To develop and conduct research to support marketing, product development and improved service delivery Experience in use of survey methods Excellent communications skills to engage stakeholders in gathering feedback Experience of conducting evaluation/research projects 4. Appendix 2: Summary of Principal Terms and Conditions of Employment This is a summary of the main conditions of service that NDR-UK follows as they relate to the post of Communications & Marketing Officer. This is not a definitive list of all terms and conditions of service. Further information will be provided on successful appointment. Location: Suite 421, Baltic Chambers, 50 Wellington Street, Glasgow, G26HJ. Probationary Period : The post will be subject to a probationary period of 3 months and where there is an assessment of satisfactory performance at the end of the probationary period the post will be continued. Salary: The salary for the post of Communications & Marketing Officer will be in the range of 23,000-25,000 per annum pro-rata. Pension: NDR-UK offers a 4% contributory pension scheme. Working hours: This is a part-time (0.6FTE) post with a working week of 21 hours per week. Working hours/days to be agreed. Salary Payment: Salary is paid on the 28 th of each calendar month. Time Off in Lieu (TOIL): Overtime is not paid but time of in lieu (TOIL) can be arranged. Annual Leave: Annual leave entitlement is 28 days pro-rata inclusive of 8 days bank/public holidays. The business is closed on 24 th December, reopening on 3 rd January and during this period you are required to take annual leave from your entitlement. The business is also shut down on the Easter bank holiday Monday and again you are required to take this from your entitlement. The business is open on the remainder of the bank holidays. Should you wish to take annual leave on these holidays, you are required to book it and take from your entitlement. Sickness Payments The organisation is required to make statutory sickness payments (SSP) where staff qualify.
