Mentored junior faculty and adjuncts. Handled student complaints. Assisted chair in scheduling classes and long-term scheduling plans. Responsible for budget of as much as $125,000 per year. Assisted chair in creating screening plan for major and screening all applicants. Initiated three major student projects: JournalistsOnJournalism.com (2006-2008): BaltimoreStories (www.baltimorestories.com, 2001-2006): This online multimedia project was created by students in my Writing for New Media class working with students in Broadcast Journalism, Photojournalism, and Documentary Film and Video to report the stories of those who live in several Baltimore neighborhoods. The Heartfield Project (www.towson.edu/heartfield, 2000): In what has been cited as the model for future theater scholarship, students in my Writing for New Media class worked with students in classes in Instructional Technology and Theatre to build a major multimedia Web site for a theatrical premiere. Developed seven new courses: The Active Media Consumer, a Towson Seminar course Introduction to Mass Communication, a survey course required of majors. Journalism and New Media 1 and 2, which introduced convergence into the first skills classes. Digital Publishing, which teaches students fundamental technical skills. Mass Media Graphics, which lets them apply those skills, primarily in the print environment. Writing for New Media, which challenges students to reconceptualize reporting and storytelling for the World Wide Web, taking advantage of all available multimedia tools in the process. Designed and supervised four state-of-the-art computer labs. Received highest level of merit every year.
