Diploma in Public Health Informatics: The Proposed structure (Duration: One year) 1. Total intake of student - 10 per year(excluding Sponsored Candidates two per year) 2. Eligibility (Qualification - The following minimum qualifications & experience ). Candidates with MBBS/BDS / Master s in Hospital Administration / Masters in Public Health. Mid-career professionals preferred. 3. Age - Maximum 30 years, relaxation as per Govt. rules 4. Fee structure (Inclusive final exam fee) - No age limit for sponsored candidates Rs. 20,000/- per year (no stipend to be given) NRI Candidates - Rs. 1,00,000/- or Equivalent Foreign Currency (no stipend to be given) 5. Reservations applied to seats - As per Govt. rules 6. Entrance Examination: To be conducted at National level (There will no entrance exm. for NRI & Sponsored Candidates. Selection will be based on their Credentials) Pattern: MCQ - Total mark: 100 7. Total no. of theory questions - 50 8. Pass out marks (cut off line) General Category Reserved Category 50 % 45 % 9. Public health informatics deals with the collection, verification and utilization of data related to preventive, promotive health status of population, 2 7

environment. Public health informatics also focuses on using this data to generate knowledge in support of public health practice and policy development / dissemination. The intended audience comprises professionals interested to make a career public health care and Health System. Course Objectives: To understand the structure and content of data sources commonly used in public health. To gain in-depth knowledge of the types of computer-based tools available to public health professionals.
