4. Program will install and pop up a box that says successful, click ok. 5. The installer will then install LabVIEW 6.0 run-time engine. a. If you already have the LabVIEW 6.0 run-time installed, the program will show the following box. Click cancel and the installer will tell you that installation is not complete. Click exit setup, the program will pop up another error box, click ok. 6. If you need to install the LabVIEW 6.0 run-time engine click next. Note that this program will only run if you have the LabVIEW 6.0 run-time engine, it will not work with later versions of LabVIEW run-time engine. Installing LabVIEW 6.0 run-time engine should not alter any other LabVIEW programs installed on your computer. EigenLight S500 Software Manual Rev 0 2

Install Drivers for Windows XP 1. Plug in EigenLight S500 Monitor. If Found New Hardware Wizard window pops up skip to step 7. 2. Right click on My Computer and select Properties. 3. Select the Hardware tab. 4. Select Device Manager. 5. Click the + icon next to Other Devices and select MSP430-USB Example. 6. Right click MSP430-USB Example and select Update Driver. 7. This will bring up New Hardware Update Wizard. Select No, not at this time and click Next. 8. Select Install item from a specific location and click Next. 9. Select Include this location in the search and browse to the folder where the driver is located. The driver for the Series 500 is located in the Driver subfolder within the EigenLight folder sent with the software. (example C:\Users\Example\EigenLight S500 Power Monitor EigenLight S500 Software Manual Rev 0 4
Example\Drivers). The driver will be the file 1CDC_descTool.inf. Once the folder has been selected click Next. 10. A window will pop up asking you to authorize the driver installation. Click Continue Anyway. 11. Once the driver has installed the following window will pop up. Click Finish. Install VISA run-time 1. 2. Click standard download. 3. It will bring you to a page that you need to enter in account information in order to download the run-time engine. Enter information and click create account. 4. It will bring you back to the original page. Click on standard download. There should be a popup and save the file. 5. Once the file is installed open the compressed file. 6. Click ok to launch self-extraction. 7. Unzip the files. 8. Will tell you unzip successful, click ok. 9. Click next on first run-time install screen. 10. Choose directory to install VISA run-time. 11. Make sure all are enabled and click next. a. If you already have NI-VISA installed it will tell you that the run-time engine is not supported. EigenLight S500 Software Manual Rev 0 6
12. Click next. 13. Click accept agreements and click next. 14. Review installation and click next. 15. Run-time will begin to install. 16. Once the program finishes installing it will prompt a reboot. 17. Reboot the computer. EigenLight S500 Software Manual Rev 0 7
EigenLight S500 Power Monitor Program Startup Plug in all EigenLight S500 devices prior to starting the program. Make sure Labview runtime, VISA runtime and all drivers are installed. Navigate to directory that you installed the software (default is on start menu) and double click the executable. Software will display the information for the specific program you have opened. o Software serial number is the unique serial number of the software program build. o Serial numbers listed are the serial numbers that have been licensed to be compatible with the program. Click Find EigenLight devices button to scan the computer for attached EigenLight devices. Program will scan the computer for EigenLight S500 devices and display how many devices are found at the current time in the configuration status bar. o If a monitor is plugged into the computer that is not licensed for this specific program a dialog box will pop up telling you that the device is not compatible. Do not remove the device from the computer, the program will simply not allow that module to be displayed. EigenLight S500 Software Manual Rev 0 8
The popup box will display how many EigenLight S500 devices were found. It then explains how to use the program. o It is important to note that connecting or disconnecting any serial port device while the program is running will result in errors and a restart of the program. Click Begin Configuration button. The configuration status button will display the current SN being configured as well as the remaining number of modules to configure. Once the program has finished configuring the devices the button will turn from yellow to green meaning that you may proceed with measurements. Basic Controls Stop continuous sampling stops sampling and exits the program. Configuration status Displays the configuration status during the beginning stages of the program. Taking Data For a desired channel, you first need to select a serial number to monitor from the drop down menu. Once a serial number has been chosen you may select a compatible wavelength for that model. The program will then configure the model to read the appropriate wavelength and the power will be displayed in the Power column. The program takes data in order of channel number (1,2,3 and so on). This means that the more channels you are monitoring the longer it will take to refresh each individual channel. The date and time of the last refresh is displayed on the bottom of the screen which corresponds to the time of the last complete refresh of all channels. If you want to stop taking data on a certain channel you must select a blank serial number from the drop down menu. If power level is below measurement capability of the device, the power level will be displayed as -------. EigenLight S500 Software Manual Rev 0 10
Advanced controls Scale Window and All Objects This button will allow the program to scale for different size screens. This is a rough order scaling that will potentially allow a user to view all channels on a smaller screen. Log Data You must enter the log data key into Log Data Key Input field prior to selecting Log Data button. The log data key must be purchased from EigenLight and will be found in the text file supplied with that purchase. If you enter the incorrect key then the program will not log data. Select the data file that you want to create or modify in the Log Data File box. If you leave the box blank it will prompt you for a file. Make sure you name the file a.txt file. Once the correct key is entered, the program will ask if you would like to create a new file. If you click yes you will create a brand new file or overwrite the existing file you have chosen in the box. If you click no, the chosen file will leave the existing data and continue logging from the current point. EigenLight S500 Software Manual Rev 0 11
Once you have chosen the file a popup will show up to signal the beginning of data logging. o There is no memory in the program so data logging only begins when OK is clicked on the popup box. To stop logging data simply deselect the Log Data button. The data will output to a.txt file which can be copy and pasted into an Excel spreadsheet and sorted by Serial number to give a log of data corresponding to each channel.
