We are ranked amongst the top 400 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, 2013-2014. We have a total population of 22,000 students and almost 2,500 staff. 84% of our students are studying undergraduate courses, approximately 4,000 of whom are international/eu students from over 140 different countries. 45% of our students are female and 55% are male. Accommodation We have a wide range of modern and wellequipped halls of residence, offering the opportunity for your students to meet and live amongst those from different courses, cultures and backgrounds. The UCAS website contains advice and step -by- step guidance through the application process. UCAS uses codes to identify individual universities the code for the University of is P80. Alternatively, your students can apply direct to the University of, free of charge, by downloading an Undergraduate Application Form at www.port.ac.uk/international. The deadline for accepting direct applications is June in the calendar year of entry. Entry requirements The academic requirements vary between courses and you will find details about these on the relevant course page at www.port.ac.uk/courses. We have provided an overview of the academic requirements below. USA High School Diploma with GPA above 3.0, plus one of the following: SAT I (combined score, including writing, depends on subject applied for)* minimum of 3 APs from Group A** subjects with grades above 3 ACT with a score of approximately 26 *Engineering, Science and Maths degrees require specific subject knowledge, therefore you may require a relevant SAT II subject test. **Group A subjects include Biology, Calculus AB/BC, Chemistry, Physics, European History, US History, World History, English Language and Literature, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Latin and Spanish. Canada Ontario: Ontario Secondary School Diploma Advanced level, with six Grade 12 U, U/C or M courses including grade 12 U English Alberta: General High School Diploma with an average of at least 65 per cent in five acceptable Grade 12 courses British Columbia: Senior Secondary Graduation Diploma with at least five Bs (BBBBB) awarded in acceptable Grade 12 courses Quebec: Diplôme d'etudes Collègiales (DEC) If you are from another Canadian province, please email us for more information. Worldwide International Baccalaureate Between 24 and 31 points, depending on the specific degree course applied for. Please see individual course listings for exact International Baccalaureate requirements. Transfer applicants The University of welcomes applications for transfer admission. Coming to the UK Money Matters Visas (non- EU nationals) Students will need a visa to study in the UK. A Tier 4 (General) Student visa also allows them to work up to 20 hours per week during term time. Living costs enjoys a low cost of living compared with many other cities in the south east of England. The amount of money students spend will depend on their individual lifestyle, although as a guide they will need approximately 7,000 8,000 / US$11,654 US$13,319 for a full academic year. This should cover accommodation, food, local travelling expenses, books, stationery and leisure activities. They can apply for a Tier 4 (General) Student visa once they have received their Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from the University of. Airport pickup The International Office offers an airport pick up service from London Heathrow for new students to provide a stress-free option for their journey to. Orientation Programme The International Office provides a free Orientation Programme to help all EU and international students settle into academic and city life. It is a dedicated service assisting your students with the registration procedure, introducing them to local services, and arranging guided city tours for them to get to know. All students also benefit from a departmental Induction Programme to introduce them to all aspects of their academic programme and environment at. Financial aid for Canadian students The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) provides financial assistance for studies at approved institutions outside Ontario or overseas. More information can be found at www.osap.gov.on.ca Tuition fees Fees can either be paid in full, on or before registration, receiving a two per cent full payment discount, or by five equal instalments paid by direct debit through a UK bank account in November, December, January, February and March. A deposit is required before the CAS is issued. Students who pay two years fees (or more) in full in advance, or during the first week of their course, can pay a fixed entry fee for those years (at the fee rate for your year of entry) and therefore avoid the small annual increase in tuition fees. They will also be given the two per cent payment discount.
