Before you Start Turn off pop-up blockers Using Internet Explorer Select Tools - Pop-up Blocker Pop-up Blocker Settings. type www.nc.thinkgate.net in the address of website to allow bar. Login to Thinkgate/Elements Make a Test Selecting Questions (NOT Random) Click Assessment Click Classroom Fill out Test Identification (Grade, Subject, Course, Test Type, Term, Description, Form Count, Form Sequence) Click Save Form Sequence MUST BE Random. Form Count is different versions of same test. 4

Click Content Click Search Items Set Standard - Search Criteria (Subject, Standards aka Course) Click - Find Items. It may take a minute for the standards to appear. Check each Item you want to include in the Test (Assessment) FYI clicking orange arrows hides menus. Click again to make menu reappear. Navigate with scroll bars AND NEXT/PREVIOUS/LASTtakes you to another page/previous page/first page. 5

Click Add Selected Items Click Generate Assessment, then SAVE Fix and Replace Questions Here SAVE then Click Preview Click each form to see forms (tests)---(same questions - different order) Click Print Option (Blank Assessment 1 or 2 Column) Look over preview of test. Draft in background will go away when you click proofed later on. 6

Click Profile Click Online Preview---IF you are giving an online test.(not paper and pencil) to double check everything Click Start Test Click Next ( look over all questions) Click Finish (after all questions have previewed) Click Finish 7

If test is correct Click Save Click Proofed Ready for Print. This step must be done to finish your test. Yes if Ready Print Test on Paper Choose what you want to print (1 or 2 column test, answer key.) 8

Blank Assessment (Word) Valuable for EC students tests because you can edit them. Open or Save 10

Make a Test from the Classroom Blueprint Random Selection of Questions ********Quick Method******* Click Assessment Click Classroom Fill out Test Identification [Grade, Subject, Course, Test Type, Term, Description (Unique Name), Form Count (Different Versions of Same Test), Form Sequence (Must be Random)] Click Save 11

Click Standards Check each Standard for Assessment that you want to include in your test. Enter Item Count for each Standard (Do not enter more questions than available) Click Save Click Content Click Generate Assessment 12

Items are pulled from Standards Items can be replaced here if you do not like a question. Click Save Click Profile. Click Online Preview to check questions if you will give the test online. To finish the test, Click Proofed Ready to Print and choose yes. Follow directions on pages 8-10 of this manual to print. 13

Find a Test Click Assessment Select Classroom Set Classroom Test - Search Criteria Click Find Assessments Click Edit Once a test is proofed and saved, can t make many changes. Copy test to really make big changes. 14

Online Testing Setup Select Class and Curriculum and Assessment Button Click Dashboard (Adminster Classroom Test) Click Find Test Events (if test is not listed) Click Dashboard of Test you Want to Administer Online Only proofed test will appear in Find Test Events Verify Online Test Status is Enabled Click Enable/Disable Test (to switch if needed) Note - TestID Select Students (Actions Select All ) Students will need: TestID number Student Id number Teacher Dashboard must open for online testing If a student minimizes his test he gets locked out (shows up in yellow). Reset test here 16

Scores will appear after student completes the test and the teacher clicks Refresh. If you made multiple versions of the test, the computer decides which version the student takes. Online Testing Administration Students Login Test Administration web site for Iredell County Students: https://elements.schools.nc.gov/iredell/ Students need to go to this site on the Internet. Enter TestID Enter Student ID Select Sign In If student name is correct Select Start Test If student is finished Select Finished Score will be on teacher Dashboard 17

Delete an Assessment that Does Not Have Student Grades Click assessment Then click the edit icon by the test you want to delete Choose Delete Assessment and OK To delete student scores, put a check in front of the student name(s), click on the words Reset Selected and then click OK. 18

Bubble Sheet Printing There are three kinds of bubble sheets available in Elements ; student, roster and blank. 1. A student form is unique to the student. It comes with the student ID and test ID pre-printed on it. 2. A roster form includes all students in the class and the student bubbles in his or her own name. The primary benefit of a roster bubble sheet is that one can be printed and then photocopied to save printer ink. 3. A blank form is a bubble sheet with the test ID on it but no student information filled in. The student s name can be filled in manually. The blank form is used to administer a test to a student who may not be in the class roster. The bubble sheet can be scanned at a later date after the student has been enrolled. Bubble Sheet Printing 1. Click Assessment 2. Click the Dashboard Icon next to District or Classroom depending on test 3. Use the criteria to search for the desired test event 4. Click the Dashboard icon for the test event 5. This screen will display all the information you need to print bubble sheets. 22

Online Testing In order to administer an assessment online we recommend navigating to the assessment dashboard on one computer (if possible) while your students log into the testing site on their computers. The main reason you want to have one computer on the dashboard for the test event is so that you can unlock students if they become locked out as well as easily let the students know their student ID and test ID. Please follow the directions below for both the administrator of the test and the students. For the person administering the test: 1. Click Assessment 2. Click the Dashboard Icon next to District or Classroom depending on test 3. Use the criteria to search for the desired test event 4. Click the Dashboard icon for the test event 5. This screen will display all the information you need to administer the test For the students: 1. Students will need to navigate to the following address: www.thinkgate.net/<insert client ID here>/test, make sure you enter your client ID where asked in the URL. 2. Student will then be prompted for their student ID and test ID which can be located on the dashboard for the test. 23

To suspend/continue an assessment for a student? 1. Click Assessment 2. Click the Dashboard Icon next to District or Classroom depending on test 3. Use the criteria to search for the desired test event 4. Click the Dashboard icon for the test event 5. Check the checkbox next to the desired student 6. Click Suspend Selected in the left nav 7. In order to allow the student to continue the test click Continue Selected in the left nav after selecting the student. 24

Change Your Password and What To Do If You are Locked Out of the System Click Support and Choose Change My Password Type in your old password and your new password twice. For now, you must click Save on the right hand side of the screen instead of Save Changes for your new password to take effect. Just like in NCWise, if you attempt to login incorrectly three times you will be locked out of the system. If this happens, send an e-mail to your CDC and they will reset your login and password. 25
