What's Left This covers the fundamentals of getting started with Hosted Microsoft Exchange 2010. There are still a few steps to do, which are fairly straight forward and may not be critical for your needs. Don't Forget to Send Out the Configuration Emails You should have received two emails for each user added. One will contain their password. The second will explain where to go to download and setup their mail client. You need to send the user the pertinent information from each email. Password Notification Email: Copyright 2010 Plateau Ltd. dba active-server.com Page 6

User Configuration Email Getting Started with your Hosted Microsoft Exchange 2010 You will want to forward the grey area to your user. This email gives links to the User Control Panel and also Outlook Web Access. Part 2 - User Details Using Outlook Web Access (OWA) As mentioned above the User Configuration Email provides links to the User Control Panel and also Outlook Web Access. The links for both of these items are almost identical and the end user can actually access either their user setting or webmail from either link. Once the user logs into the "My Services" area they can download Outlook or Entourage and setup their account. Downloading Outlook or Entourage If you do not have a copy of Outlook or Entourage for the MAC click on the appropriate link above to download your free copy. Entourage requires that your Operating System version be Mac OS X version 10.4.9 (Tiger) or later. Automatically Configuring Outlook If you are installing a new instance of Outlook you can download and run the Profile Helper, which will automate setting up your Outlook. Outlook must be downloaded and installed before you download and run the Profile Helper. Existing Outlook Users: Running the Profile Helper: If you are already using Outlook and have user accounts setup it is recommended that you manually configure Outlook. If you download and run the Profile Helper and accidently select to delete or replace the current profile it may delete the existing accounts in Outlook, setup a different mailbox and disconnect from your current.pst file. Rules: If you have rules it is always a good idea to backup your current rules. (On the Outlook Menu click: Tools; Rules and Alerts. Next click on the button labeled "Options" and select "Export Rules.") Backup Current Outlook 2007 Account Settings: (If you are unfamiliar with the registry it is recommend that you have a professional do this for you. ) 1. Start > Run > type regedit 2. Locate the following path in your Registry Editor 3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook 4. Now right click on the key outlook and select option: Export and save.reg files to your desired location. Copyright 2010 Plateau Ltd. dba active-server.com Page 8

Configuring Your Phone (Active Sync or imap) There are two ways to configure your phones Mail application to sync your Exchange mail account using an ActiveSync connection or using a standard IMAP connection. An ActiveSync connection pulls in your calendar and contacts in addition to your email and is the preferred method. An IMAP connection can sync email messages only. As each device has a different method setting up Active Sync or imap we are unable to list instructions for every device. In all cases you will need server information.
