Selected Project Experience MARINA BAY SANDS RESORT Singapore Parsons Brinckerhoff s Role: MEP Design & Site Supervision Client: Las Vegas Sands Corp. Architect: Safdie Architects The Marina Bay Sands Resort is a premier entertainment destination in Singapore. Located on the waterfront, the resort features an Expo and Convention Centre measuring approximately 1.3M f t2, the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, a casino, two theatres, and high-end shops and dining outlets. Parsons Brinckerhoff completed the design, coordination and site supervision of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. The design incorporated sustainable features including a system for heat recovery from exhaust air and a rainwater collection system for non-potable uses. ORANGE COUNTY CONVENTION CENTRE EXPANSION Orlando, Florida Parsons Brinckerhoff s Role: Program Management Client: Orange County Board of County Commissioners Architect: Helman Hurley Charvat Peacock Architects, Huton Brady Pryor Maso Architects, and Thompson Ventulett Stainback & Associates (TVS) As the second largest facility of its kind in the US, the Orange County Convention Centre sits on 207 acres, adjacent to the popular Universal Studios attraction in Florida. Acting as the owner s representative, Parsons Brinckerhoff provided program management services to Orange County for the development and construction of the centre s phase five expansion. Services included project administration, technical design review, project management engineering and document control. The expansion effectively doubled the facility s existing exhibition space to 2.8M ft 2, to support Florida s growing convention industry. The project also incorporated public improvements in and around the project site, including an enhanced streetscape and utilities relocation.

VENETIAN MACAO RESORT-HOTEL Macau Parsons Brinckerhoff s Role: Design, Coordination and Supervision of MEP Systems Owner: Venetian Cotai Ltd. Architect: HKS Inc. Modeled after The Venetian in Las Vegas (but twice as large), The Venetian Macao Resort-Hotel is an 11M ft 2 complex that integrates entertainment, business, shopping, and convention facilities, including a casino. Parsons Brinckerhoff provided design, coordination and supervision of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the complex, including the hotel, convention centre, casino, shopping mall, theatre and swimming pools. Project challenges included adapting the building s design, which was originally conceived for a building in the Nevada desert, to the humid climate of Macau. The project required a cooling capacity of 48,000 refrigeration tons and an electrical supply of 120 mega-volt amps. GRAND LISBOA HOTEL & CASINO Macau Parsons Brinckerhoff s Role: Building Design & Construction Supervision Owner: Sociedade De Jogos De Macau, S.A. Architect: DLN Architects The Lisboa is a 58-storey ultra-luxury hotel and casino complex, with 430 guest rooms, an expansive eight-level casino, a restaurant, and a four-level basement for back-office operations and parking. The Lisboa encompasses a massive gross floor area of nearly 1.5M ft 2. The Lisboa was designed to achieve a high degree of energy efficiency while providing a flexible operational system to satisfy user requirements. Some of the sustainable design features include variable speed drive water-cooled chillers to enhance the overall energy efficiency of the central chiller plant, heat recovery chillers for domestic hot water pre-heating for podium floors, water-to-water heat pumps for space heating and domestic hot water preheating for hotel floors, and on-demand ventilation control for casino and parking areas featuring carbon dioxide monitoring.

VIVOCITY Singapore Parsons Brinckerhoff s Role: Mechanical and Electrical Consultant Owner: VivoCity Pte. Ltd. Architect: Toyo Ito Associates and DP Architects VivoCity is a four-storey commercial development located at Singapore Harbourfront. It is connected to Singapore s mass transit system and is the terminal station for the Sentosa monorail. At the time of its opening in 2006, it was Singapore s largest shopping and entertainment destination with a total gross floor area of 1.5M ft 2. Parsons Brinckerhoff served as the mechanical and electrical consultant for the development, which comprises retail and entertainment facilities, a food court, a cinema and IMAX theatre, two levels of underground parking, and three levels of above-ground parking. MOUNT WASHINGTON HOTEL & RESORT Bretton Woods, New Hampshire Parsons Brinckerhoff s Role: Project and Construction Management Client: BW Resorts Management Company LLC Architect: TRO JB Architects Parsons Brinckerhoff provided project and construction management to transform New Hampshire s historic century-old Mount Washington Hotel into one of the leading destination resorts in the northeastern US. The firm was responsible for selecting and coordinating more than 50 consultants and contractors. The facility included a conference centre and a spa and pool complex, and was completed on a fast tracked schedule. To accommodate guests and conferences and minimize disruption during construction, Parsons Brinckerhoff developed a phased schedule and held daily meetings with the hotel general manager, sales manager and concierge. The project received several awards, including the Construction Management Association of America 2009 Construction Management Project Achievement Award.

HONG KONG DISNEYLAND DELUXE HOTEL Hong Kong Parsons Brinckerhoff s Role: MEP & Drainage Consultant Client: Disney Imagineering Consortium Architect: Ronald Lu & Partners The deluxe 400-room Disneyland Hotel on Lantau Island is part of the Disneyland resort in Hong Kong. The hotel facilities, which were designed to mimic the charm of the Victorian Age, include multi-functional ballrooms, a selection of international restaurants, and indoor/outdoor swimming pools. As lead mechanical, electrical, plumbing and drainage consultant, Parsons Brinckerhoff provided design, fire engineering and construction supervision of the MEP systems installation. The firm s work included complete design from schematic stage to final commissioning of all building management services, including fire-life/safety systems, air conditioning, heating, plumbing and drainage, lighting, power supply, and communications. WASHINGTON CONVENTION CENTRE Washington, DC Parsons Brinckerhoff s Role: Member of Design Team Owner: Washington Convention Center Authority Architect: Thompson, Ventulett, Stainback & Associates (TVS) When the Washington Convention Centre opened in 2003 it was the sixth largest in the US, covering approximately six city blocks. The 2.3M ft 2 facility includes 725,000 ft 2 of column-free exhibit space. Two-thirds of the space and 40 truck loading docks were constructed below grade to reduce the massing of the building. Each side of the building reflects the character of the adjacent neighborhood, with a contemporary twist. Parsons Brinckerhoff s US buildings unit, Heery International, helped prepare the design and construction documents and develop cost-effective solutions during the value engineering of the exterior and interior packages. Providing support from design through to construction administration and occupancy, Heery brought the project within budget, while maintaining the essence of the design and many of the original design features.

CASINO WINDSOR Windsor, Ontario Halsall s Role: Structural Engineering Owner: Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission (OLGC) Architect: Webb Zerafa Menkes Housden Architects Inc. (WZMH) Halsall provided structural engineering services for this 2M ft 2 entertainment complex, which includes a casino, shops, restaurants, a 23-storey five-star hotel, and an open parking structure. The public atrium has 148-foot clear spans, waterfalls, and a 56-foot ceiling. The casino floors have heavy design loads to accommodate slot machines, coin cars and heavy occupant loads. The structural framing over the casino spaces was designed using deep steel trusses to allow mechanical duct work to pass through the structure, maximizing ceiling heights while minimizing overall structural height. GREAT BLUE HERON CASINO Scugog Island, Ontario Halsall s Role: Structural Engineering Owner: Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission (OLGC) Architect: Moffat Kinoshita Architects Inc. This project involved adding 23,000 ft 2 of administrative space to the existing casino. The interior of the gaming facility was also renovated to accommodate the addition of slot machines, and featured a new First Nations theme. Halsall worked closely with the architect and the interior consultant to provide special structural framing for many features, including the interior wood log tepee and water feature supports for the heron motif. The project was delivered on a fast tracked schedule, with design and construction completed within nine months.

NIAGARA FALLS GATEWAY CASINO Niagara Falls, Ontario Halsall s Role: Peer Reviewer for Structural Engineering Owner: Ontario Liquor and Gaming Commission (OLGC) Architect: B & H Architects/Zeidler Partnership Architects (Joint Venture) As peer reviewer of the structural engineer of record s work, Halsall s goal was to ensure compliance with the contract documents and mitigate the risk of potential claims against the OLGC. Halsall also advised the OLGC on how their scope changes impacted the schedule and the serviceability of the finished project. The new complex, which overlooks Niagara Falls, includes a 2.4M ft² casino, a 368-room Hyatt hotel, 50,000 ft 2 of meeting and convention space, a 1,500 seat performing arts centre, and world-class retail and restaurants venues. SUDBURY DOWNS GAMING & ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE Sudbury, Ontario Halsall s Role: Structural Engineering Owner: Ontario Liquor and Gaming Commission / MacRanald Enterprises Architect: Nicholls Yallowega Bélanger Architects Halsall has provided structural engineering services for various additions to the Sudbury Downs Gaming and Entertainment facility since 1999. These include a new OPP office, gazebo and garage. One of the most significant projects was a 2-storey 30,000ft² gaming facility addition, which connected to the existing Sudbury Downs Racetrack building. The addition was constructed with structural steel framing on conventional footings. The lower level roof spans approximately 70 feet, and supports seven large mechanical rooftop units and snow piling. The main floor supports the large gaming floor live loads including coin carts. BRANTFORD CASINO Brantford, Ontario Halsall s Role: Structural Engineering Client: Ontario Lottery and Gaming Commission (OLGC) Architect: Yallowega Belanger Architecture This $20M multi-phased project included an interior renovation. Significant structural modifications were required to facilitate repurposing the space. In addition to the interior renovations, Halsall provided the structural design for the new 15,000 ft 2 2-storey structural steel addition. Other site structures were included in the scope of work, most notably a new timber entrance canopy. The casino remained fully operational during the renovation and addition.
