For additional information, websites or Irish arts reviews are also relevant. SOURCE (Contemporary Photography in Britain and Ireland) http://www.source.ie Art.ie: The All Ireland Arts & Entertainment Website http://www.art.ie Developed by the two arts councils in Ireland this site offers listings (with press releases) for events across the arts, including architecture, the performing arts, 'heritage' and visual arts. The site is organised both geographically and by discipline and also features previews of upcoming events and an editorial section with news articles. ArtHouse http://www.arthouse.ie Located in Dublin's Temple Bar, ArtHouse aims to create and support opportunities for Irish artists to work "at the vanguard of New Media culture" and to host events and exhibitions pertinent to contemporary artistic practice. The site provides information on residencies and training at ArtHouse, it hosts the largest online database of Irish art and artists, and offers an archive of exhibitions. Arts Council of Northern Ireland http://www.artscouncil-ni.org/ This is a clearly organised and informative site. Information on, and application forms for, Arts Council funding and lottery funding are provided. Images of the work of emerging artists based in

4 Northern Ireland are available through an 'artist of the month' portfolio (back to 1992). There are also images by more established artists and information on international art contacts and opportunities. Circa http://www.recirca.com One of Ireland's leading visual arts magazines, Circa aims to reflect the unfolding visual culture in Ireland. The online version of this quarterly offers access to its regular columns and to a substantial number of articles and reviews. Some back issues are available online and the site hosts a number of online projects plus lots of links to Irish and international arts organisations. Douglas Hyde Gallery http://www.douglashydegallery.com One of Ireland's leading contemporary art galleries, the Douglas Hyde features work by emerging and well established Irish and international artists. The current and recent exhibitions are represented online by a short press release and a small number of images. There is also information on upcoming exhibitions, lectures relating to the gallery's current exhibition and gallery publications. Gallery of Photography, Dublin http://www.irish-photography.com/ Billed as Ireland's premier venue for photography, the Gallery's site features images from and information on: over 20 exhibitions (recent and past), their educational programmes and six gallery publications. The site also gives information on introductory and advanced classes offered at the Gallery and features a nicely organised collection of links to other photography-related sites. Irish Museum of Modern Art http://www.modernart.ie/index.htm The website of Ireland's leading national institution for the collection and presentation of modern and contemporary art offers information and images relating to its current exhibitions and its collection, information on (and occasionally images from) previous exhibitions. It also gives information on upcoming exhibitions, artist residencies at the museum, exhibitions of the collection outside Dublin and its renowned education & community programme. Kalimna http://www.kalimna.com/index.html This site aims to pull together information on Ireland's visual culture and to offer a comprehensive listing of art exhibitions and events on the island (organised by county). It offers over 100 links specific to Irish art and artists, including links to the personal websites of a large number of highprofile contemporary practitioners. A news section presents articles from a variety of sources. Kerlin Gallery http://www.kerlin.ie

5 The Kerlin is one of Ireland's leading private art galleries featuring national and international contemporary art. Access to the work of artists represented by the gallery, including a number of photographers, is given through several of images and a brief statement and biography. The site also features images from and information on the gallery's current exhibition, and upcoming and previous exhibitions are listed. The Arts Council (An Comhairle Ealaíon) http://www.artscouncil.ie The site is well laid out if a little slow to download. Information on the funding available from the Arts Council is given. There is also a 'review' section to enable interested parties to follow and contribute to the evolution of Arts Council policies as well as a more general discussion forum. The site offers a reasonable number of links. The Irish Times http://www.ireland.com/dublin/ For those interested in 'the arts' the relevant section of the Irish Times website is 'entertainment'. This offers listings of current exhibitions and a substantial number of illustrated feature articles ranging from interviews with internationally renowned artists to reflections upon culture in Ireland - including several on 'Irish Art'. Unfortunately, there is no section devoted to the work of their photojournalists. The Crawford Art Gallery (Cork) http://www.crawfordartgallery.com/ ev+a (Exhibition of Visual Art, Limerick) http://www.eva.ie/ The Hugh Lane Gallery (Dublin) http://www.hughlane.ie/ Ulster Museum Belfast http://www.ulstermuseum.org.uk/ National Gallery of Ireland (Dublin) http://www.nationalgallery.ie/
