Information about Gdańsk School of Banking Gdansk School of Banking is a non-public university which specializes in business education and international relations. The main building of Gdańsk School of Banking is situated in the centre of Gdańsk at ul. Dolna Brama 8, close to the Pomorskie Voivodeship Office. Good communication with the Main Railway Station and the Coach Station is an undoubted asset of the localisation. Other building is situated 300 metres from the main building at ul. Żabi Kruk. From the moment of the establishment of The School, its material base has been systematically increased and modernised. The combined surface area of the School is over six thousand square metres. How to get to the city from the airport?? Gdansk Lech Walesa Airport is located 10 km from the city center. There is a bus line 210 which goes directly to the city centre and stops at the Main Railway Station. Please check the timetables below to find the best option for you. There is also a timetable for the same bus driving the other way - that means from the Main Railway Station to the airport. Tour takes about half an hour. You can buy the ticket from the chauffer, normal price is 3 zł and student ticket is only 1,50 zł. Please remember that you need to have your student ID with you if you wish to use student tickets in Poland. Information about Gdańsk The city lies on the southern edge of Gdansk Bay (of the Baltic Sea), in a conurbation with the spa town of Sopot, the city of Gdynia and suburban communities, which together form a metropolitan area called the Tricit (Trójmiasto), with a population of over 800,000. Gdansk itself has a population of 458,053 (2006), making it the largest city in the Pomerania region of Northern Poland. The city was the birthplace of the Solidarity movement which, under the leadership of Gdansk political activist Lech Walesa, played a major role in bringing an end to communist rule across Central Europe. The city has many fine buildings from the time of the Hanseatic League. Most tourist attractions are located along or near Ulica Długa (Long Street) and Długi Targ (Long Market), a pedestrian thoroughfare surrounded by buildings reconstructed in historical (primarily 17th century) style. Gdańsk has a number of historical churches, among them St Mary (Bazylika Mariacka), a municipal church built during the 15th century, is the largest brick church in the world. Gdansk is the Polish seaside centre of trade and tourism with numerous banks, ports, hotels, harbours, beautiful, sandy beaches and an airport. In the one-thousand-year-old city of Gdansk, you can find many enchanting places which exemplify the charm of the past. You can also wander along picturesque alleys and take part in many cultural and artistic activities or take pleasure in trying various cuisines, together with the old Gdansk cuisine, in a number of restaurants, pubs and bars. Information about accommodation The Walowa Hostel (one of the School Youth Hostel Szkolne Schroniska Młodzieżowe) has been open since 1956 and is the oldest facility of this type in Pomeranian Voivodship. Due to its excellent situation, it is the most frequently visited hostel by both domestic and foreign tourists. It is a perfect base for tours of Old Town and TriCity. The hostel is situated at 21 Walowej Street in near Old Town, located 7 minutes from Main Railway Station in Gdansk.
