Introduction ISO 55001: 2014 is a newly released best practice standard for asset management. This standard helps to optimize value from your assets while tackling the infrastructure gap to meet industrial safety and performance requirements. TÜV SÜD ASEAN is proud to partner with AMA (Asset Management Academy) to run the first Asset Management Course in ASEAN. AMA was the first organization to be endorsed as a provider of training for IAM Certificate and Diploma examinations and its work is subject to the IAM's quality assurance process. Course Outline This course aims to introduce the new standard ISO 55001: 2014 on Asset Management and at the same time help participants achieve the competency necessary for implementing best practice framework to manage asset lifecycle. At the end of the course, participants will have the option to sit through an exam which will be certified by IAM. 02
Module Overview Module Overview Module 1 (C1) Introduction to Asset Management This module covers key aspects of asset management as defined in the IAM Competence Framework and the IAM Asset Management Anatomy. The aim is to provide an overview of what asset management is, its importance to private and public sector organisations, and introduce specific topics such as risk management and information systems, BSI PAS 55 and ISO 55000. C1.1 Asset management strategies, policies and plans C1.2 Investment issues, whole-life costing C1.3 Operation, maintenance, repair and disposal of assets C1.4 Risk management C1.5 Information needs and systems Module 2 (C2) Asset Related Risk This module focuses on the identification, measurement and management of risk. It includes consideration of risk assessment and management, quality assurance, performance, monitoring and evolution of asset. Subject Areas include: C2.1 Assessment and management of risk C2.2 Contingency planning C2.3 Asset management review Module 3 (C3) The Asset Management Lifecycle This module discusses asset lifecycle - from specification, acquisition and installation to decommissioning and disposal. It covers internal and external factors influencing asset lifecycle, the impact and requirements of different businesses. C3.1 Creation and acquisition of assets developing design, specification to achieve optimum customer, business, lifecycle operations and management. C3.2 Creation and acquisition of assets impact of procurement policies on achieving optimum asset life-cycle performance and costs. C3.3 Maintenance of assets C3.4 Renewal and disposal of assets Module 4 (C4) Asset Information This module covers asset knowledge systems and procedures, the use of IT as an asset management tool, selection and use of appropriate systems and procedures and data collection, dissemination, storage and maintenance. Module Overview Module 5 (C5) Financial and business impact This module focuses on quantifying financial and business impacts when asset management is implemented. Issues of concern include how to make informed decisions on asset management and investments, why the need for such initiatives and analyzing business needs related to asset acquisition, development plus attendant risks, costs and benefits. C5.1 Strategic requirements C5.2 Investment decision-making C5.3 Asset management planning C5.4 Creation and acquisition of assets the business case study IAM Certified Exam (Optional) The IAM Certification comes with an optional exam to be taken at the end of the 5-day course. It consists of 60 multiple choice questions to be completed within 2 hours. The intention of this examination is to verify the competency of the course participant and be qualified to IAM Certificate standard. The IAM Certificate is aimed primarily but not exclusively at new entrants, and those with some experience in asset management roles, seeking to achieve formal recognition of their knowledge and experience of physical asset management and ISO 55001: 2014.
