INFORMASJON OM KURS OG PÅMELDING: Arbeidskurs: Torsdag: Fjernelse av frakturert instrument og reparasjon av perforasjoner med biokeramisk material. In this non-surgical endodontic retreatment workshop the participants will be working on a dental model with a 3D-printed upper molar with the help of an OP microscope. Using specific ultrasonic tips and bioceramic materials we will demonstrate to the participants followed by hands-on exercises the following clinical procedures: 1. Troughing around, dislodging and removing broken instruments with ultrasonic tips. 2. Reparation of apical perforation with a bioceramic material (Totalfill Putty). On this exercise the canals will be prepared with a non-taper files (S-Apex, FKG Dentaire) and the putty bioceramic material applied with the MAP system. 13.november - fredag 0900-0930 Registrering 0940 Åpning av møtet Nina Wiencke Gerner 0945 Management of calcified canals Helmut Walsch Everyone taking the challenge of root canal treatment is aware that the difficulty of treating a tooth with pulp space calcifications increases with the degree of calcification. In most cases, the calcification process progresses from coronal to apical. Even if the coronal aspect is completely occluded, a difficult to find patent remainder of the root canal is often expected further apical. One good example is the mbii canal. In addition, calcific dentin is laid down on the entire root canal wall surface to different extents. The resulting reduced canal diameter and various other complications make negotiation and instrumentation challenging and time consuming. Many photographically and radiographically documented clinical cases together with the respective scientific evidence will demonstrate effective strategies for the successful management of all difficulties involved in the management of calcified root canals. At conclusion, participants should be able to - Determine the specific challenges of individual cases and estimate their expected extent - Evaluate various strategies and describe when and how to apply them - Implement immediately the correct strategies successfully in clinical practice
13.november - fredag 1115-1130 Kaffepause / utstilling 1130-1230 Perforation Repair Helmut Walsch Perforations of a tooth occuring while searching for canal orifices or during different phases of root canal instrumentation are common mishaps in root canal therapy. While some perforations may be noticed by the clinician immediately, some others may initially go unnoticed. As contamination of a perforation will result in periradicular pathosis, disinfection and prevention of iatrogenic contamination of a perforation is important. Ideally, a perforation should be repaired immediately. Perforations are being classified and each different type will be discussed, along with clinical cases in each category showing the different strategies used for repairing the different types of perforation. Factors affecting the prognosis and scientific evidence of the success rate of perforation repair as well as strategies for the prevention of perforations are shown. At conclusion, participants should be able to... - understand the different types of tooth perforations and their causes - describe strategies for perforation repair - implement in their daily practice different techniques for the prevention and repair of perforations.

14.november - lørdag 0930-1000 Tactile Controlled Rotation (TCR) of controlled memory files for the management of severely curved canals. Part 1 Antonis Chaniotis 1030-1115 Kaffepause / utstilling 1115-1230 Tactile Controlled Rotation (TCR) of controlled memory files for the management of severely curved canals. Part 2 Antonis Chaniotis 1230-1330 Lunch 1330-1530 Hands-on kurs, max 20 deltakere: The Hyflex EDM concept for anatomy driven preparations of the highly curved and double curved canal systems Antonis Chaniotis
Workshop, lørdag 14.november: The Hyflex EDM concept for anatomy driven preparations of the highly curved and double curved canal systems Lecturer: Chaniotis Antonis DDS, MDSc Description: The use of nickel-titanium engine driven endodontic instruments has expanded dramatically since the first attempts at manufacturing endodontic files from super elastic alloy. Over the years, engine driven shaping of the root canal system became synonymous to modern root canal instrumentation. New cross sectional instrument designs, variable tapers and crown down techniques were introduced and adopted very quickly. Recently reciprocation movement was introduced and challenged rotation in terms of efficiency, simplicity and safety. In this era of NiTi instrumentation blast, heat treated NiTi martensitic controlled memory files were introduced and became rapidly very popular. Their flexibility, fracture resistance and lack of super elasticity allowed for adequate anatomically driven preparations even for the most challenging canal systems. Now that everybody is moving towards martensitic flexible files with controlled memory characteristics, a new generation of files has come to revolutionize instrumentation efficiency and safety. The new electrical discharge machined (EDM) Hyflex files arrived to supplement the successful controlled memory series and reduce the number of files needed to prepare challenging root canal systems. The aim of this workshop is to introduce you to the new EDM era of rotary instrumentation for the highly curved and the double curved canal systems
Workshop objectives At the end of this workshop the participant will manage to Understand the biological objectives of root canal treatment manipulation in relation to each anatomical challenge Understand and appreciate the controlled memory thermomechanical processing and electrical discharge machining for the manufacturing of rotary files Establish a roadmap for customized instrumentation protocols with the Hyflex CM & EDM rotary files even for the most challenging cases Practice the suggested shaping protocol in highly curved and doubled curved training blocks with 3 rotating instruments Achieve a three dimensional obturation of the prepared root canal system by using greater taper gutta-percha points in combination with Gutta-flow bioseal Take away tips and hints to use them in the every day practice Workshop duration: 2 hours Max antall deltakere: 20 Kursavgift: kr 1000 Kurset teller 2 timer i NTFs etterutdanning.
