Using the Findlay City Schools Help Desk Program This document describes how to submit a helpdesk request into the new system for the first time. In order to submit a helpdesk request you will need to go to the help desk website. There are three ways to do this. The first is to go to the Findlay city schools website, then click on For Staff, when the page opens click on Help Desk. Second is to enter the link to the help desk site at http://www.findlaycityschools.org/help in the address bar. Third, is to type in the direct address to the site http://myschoolbuilding.com. When you arrive at the site for the first time you will be presented with the following dialog: Here you will need to enter our organization code (35871025) After typing the code in, click on the Submit Organization button.

Next you will be taken to an initial entry screen where it will ask you for your email address. Type in your email address, making sure to type the address correctly. This is how the system will remember you. Then click on the submit button. 2

On the next page you will receive an alert page indicating that the system did not recognize your email address. Because you are a first time user, the program will ask you to enter your last name. Enter your last name and click on the submit button again 3

At this point you will be taken to the user data entry form. On this page you should type in your user information: Complete the required fields at a minimum and when the form is complete, click on the submit button. This will take you to the help desk data entry form. 4

On this page you will see that the information that you have already entered has been stored and is greyed out. Enter your building and room number. To complete the location field, click on the down arrow on the right side of the field. Select your building from the list presented on the pull down menu. 5

Next you will need to enter your room number by clicking in the area/room number field and typing it in Then click on the down arrow by Area to select the area type. (Note - If you would like to have the system to remember your information, be sure to check the remember my area entries box.) At this point you need to select a problem type from those presented on the page. 6

Here you will notice the icons for the different problem types change as the mouse pointer rolls over them. When you click on the item to select it, the icon changes to an OK Next you need to describe the problem. Please provide as much detail as you can. This will help us diagnose the problem and may reduce the time needed to fix the problem. Next provide the date that you would like to have the problem addressed. (Note - priority of tasks and dates for completion will be established within the IT department based on severity of the problem, location, assignment, and other factors.) 7

For this field you can type in the date. or click on the calendar icon or the Click here link to bring up a calendar to select a date from. Clicking the date in the calendar will also complete the dialog. Optional: If you have additional information you wish to send as part of the help desk request you can attach it to the help desk request. Please note that you cannot send a file greater than 3 megs in size. The system will then ask you to enter the password to submit the request to the Findlay City Schools help desk account. That password is fcs20078. After you have typed the submittal password, you will need to click on the submit button to send the help desk request to the system. 8

Once the request has been entered into the system you will receive an email notification that your help desk request has been submitted. To check IT Requests: You can check on your help desk request by returning to the help desk web site to track progress that is being made on your request, including when the request has been resolved. Simply log back in and click on the My Requests tab. Online help about the help desk program is available from this page. Click on the help link on the upper right hand side of the page. To log out click on the logout link and close the browser. 9
