CUSTOMER SUCCESS STORY Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand provides cost-effective and flexible cloud services with CA Technologies solutions CLIENT PROFILE Industry: IT Services Company: Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand (Fujitsu ANZ) Employees: 5,000 Revenue: AU$1.2 billion BUSINESS Fujitsu is the third largest IT services company in the world. Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand provides public sector and corporate customers with IT services and solutions that deliver tangible business results. CHALLENGE To meet customer demand for IT solutions that offer greater flexibility, the company has developed a range of cloud-based services. These new offerings must incorporate simple management, rapid provisioning and high availability. SOLUTION Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand s cloud platform uses CA Automation Suites for Cloud and CA Service Assurance solutions as an integral part of the offering. The solutions provide end-toend self-service capabilities and round-the-clock monitoring for customers. BENEFIT The CA Technologies solutions form an important component of Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand s ability to provide customers with highly available cloud computing services that help minimise costs and maximise agility and to enhance its own competitive advantage.

Business Providing IT solutions that maximise business value Fujitsu is the third largest IT services company in the world with more than 10 million customers and 170,000 members of staff in 100 countries. The company combines professional expertise, strategic consulting services, intelligent application services and innovative infrastructure solutions to help its customers achieve the business results they seek. Its customer base spans public sector and corporate organisations and globally includes more than half the Fortune Global 500. Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand (Fujitsu ANZ) has more than 5,000 employees working from 100 locations and is focused on providing IT solutions that meet customers individual needs. It is the third largest ICT company in the region. Challenge Meeting customer demand for cloud computing services Business agility is fundamental to competitive advantage for Fujitsu s customers: acquiring new companies, expanding into emerging markets, and launching new customer services can all be delayed by a lack of flexible resources. Fujitsu ANZ needs to safeguard not only the agility of its own business but also that of its customers., Executive GM and Chief Innovation & Technology Officer at Fujitsu ANZ, comments, With IT so inherently linked to business agility, many organisations are reviewing how they provision and consume infrastructure, applications and content. Cloud computing represents a new opportunity for our customers. With its ability to provide on-demand, inexpensive IT, cloud computing is high on the list of options, as Baty explains, Cloud computing represents a new opportunity for our customers. It provides organisations with additional choice around how to consume IT, and can help reduce costs, increase innovation and remove complexity. 02

To enable customers to take advantage of these benefits, Fujitsu ANZ decided to develop its own platform for delivering cloud-based services. Before embarking on the initiative, the company conducted extensive customer surveys to verify customer needs and expectations. To meet customer demand, the company noted that it needed to ensure its cloud offerings incorporated simple management, rapid provisioning and met exacting standards for availability. Solution An integration platform for automation and self-service Fujitsu Australia and New Zealand s cloud platform went live in September 2010 and incorporates a number of CA Technologies solutions. CA Technologies is an important partner in the development and deployment of our cloud services portfolio, comments Baty. Fujitsu ANZ very carefully selected best-of-breed partners as the basis of our local cloud offerings, and as we already had an excellent relationship with CA Technologies having built much of our managed services offerings around CA Technologies products, the company was a logical choice for use in our cloud solutions as well. The CA Technologies solutions include: CA Automation Suites for Cloud (formerly CA Spectrum Automation Manager) CA Service Assurance solutions including CA ehealth, CA Spectrum and CA Service Operations Insight. For example, Fujitsu ANZ uses CA Automation Suites for Cloud to provide organisations with an end-to-end self-service experience. CA Automation Suites for Cloud enables customers to provision and de-provision servers within their cloud environments via an online portal. 03

CA Automation Suites for Cloud enables customers to provision and de-provision servers within their cloud environments via an online portal without any involvement from us, comments Baty. This not only maximises business agility for our customers but also minimises human intervention for provisioning, thereby simplifying management on an ongoing basis. As well as enabling customers to define the scale and scope of resources they wish to use, the portal also provides customers with visibility of performance statistics for cloud components. Baty comments, CA ehealth and Spectrum provide us with real-time metrics and advanced reporting so customers can verify the performance and availability of their infrastructures at a glance. Benefit Providing customers with greater choice and flexibility The CA Technologies solutions enable Fujitsu ANZ to deliver cost-effective and reliable cloud services. Automation, self-service, and rapid provisioning all help to strengthen our cloud computing offerings, comments Baty. With these foundations in place, we continue to provide customers with the flexibility they need to make the right IT choices for their business. The ability to offer customers the option of a cloud-based IT model enhances profitability and competitive advantage. The platform for cloud delivery enables Fujitsu ANZ to provide customers with: Highly available services with minimal management overhead The ability to bring new services to market faster Greater flexibility to support innovation, growth and change. CA Technologies is itself currently taking advantage of these benefits. It utilises Fujitsu ANZ s cloud platform to offer its most popular IT management solutions, including CA Clarity PPM (Project & Portfolio Management) on a software-as-service basis. 04

Other customers benefitting from reduced administration, lower costs and greater business agility as a result of Fujitsu Australia & New Zealand s cloud services include Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA), Frucor and Toyota Australia. The ability to offer customers the option of a cloud-based IT model enhances profitability and competitive advantage, comments Baty. Globally Fujitsu expects cloud-related services to account for 30 percent of new business by 2015. Copyright 2012 CA. All rights reserved.
