VMware Cloud Management Marketplace How to upload your management solution to the VMware Cloud Management Marketplace There are a total of 25 steps below based on an existing solution in the Cloud Management Marketplace 1 Load this URL into a web browser: http://solutionexchange.vmware.com 2 After the page loads, click Login now in the upper right 3 Login to your account which has the appropriate permissions for Administration If you do not have an account, self-register for a new account by following the instructions at this link: Partner Registration Request You can also send an email to: vsxalliance@vmware.com
4 After successfully logging in to your account, click on Administration 5 Click on Manage Solutions 6 From the Manage Solutions page, click on Add Solution in the top right corner of the page 7 The Add Solution form will load. The form has several expandable sections, starting with Add Solution. You can expand sections by clicking + (plus) and you can collapse sections by clicking (minus).
8 Complete the Add Solution section For CMM solutions, select Cloud Management Solution. This is an absolute must else your solution will not show up in the VMware Cloud Management Marketplace. Then select a VMware Product For this example, the product is VMware vcenter Orchestrator 9 Select a Content Type For this example, the Content Type is Orchestration Plugins 10 Complete the Solution Overview section For the Summary, provide a 3-5 sentence description of the joint value proposition that your solution, along with VMware, provides to customers. We recommend 60-100 words. We will request that summary statements that do not reflect the value of a solution in conjunction with a VMware product be revised before approving them for publication. For this example, there is a sample overview for an existing CMM solution.
11 Complete the Solution Highlights & Description section Each Highlight should summarize the features/benefits of your solution Use this description field to provide a more detailed overview of your solution that support or compliment the highlights. As an example, there is sample data filled in for an existing CMM solution. 12 Complete the Solution Try Experience section Try experience is of 2 types 1. External link this is used when you want users to be redirected to an external link when they click on the Try button 2. Enable Packaged Download this is used when you want users to download the solution packages on their machines. Typically the packages must contain solution trial bits, binaries, documentation etc., all in an archive file If you have a solution that is packaged without encryption or without making calls to encryption services, then you can upload the package so that users can download it directly from the VSX. Login Required - We recommend leaving this unchecked for the first 2 months in order to increase adoption of your solution. 13 To upload a package, select Enable Package Download. The Upload Package button will appear.
14 After clicking the Upload Package button, a new window will appear. In that window, select the appropriate File Category, type a Title, provide a Description, choose a file, and specify whether login is required. If you would like to require customers to register for an account on the VSX before downloading your solution, you may check the Login Required button. Reports with information about the individuals who downloaded or accessed a specific solution will be provided to you. We recommend leaving this unchecked for the first 2 months in order to increase adoption of your solution. As an example, there is sample data filled in for an existing CMM solution. Login Required - We recommend leaving this unchecked for the first 2 months in order to increase adoption of your solution. 15 Select Solution Categories and complete the following 3 sections: Operating Systems Content Categories Technology Types These categories will tag your solution and will enable filtering, searching, and categorization based on the tags you select in each sections. 16 Complete the Technical Specifications section This section includes a free-form field, which should be completed with care. Please include information about how your solution works such as: prerequisites, requirements, setup process, technical information, etc. Click on Add a Resource if you want to upload a file or provide a URL to any available resources for your solution. Note that adding a resource is optional, not required.

Use the window to either upload a file or provide a URL to any available resources for your solution. Any demos or videos added to this section will be visible to customers under the Resources tab in the VSX Marketplace. If you would like to require customers to register for an account on the VSX before downloading your resource, you may check the Login Required button. Reports with information about the individuals who downloaded or accessed a specific resource will be provided to you. After clicking Add, you will see the list of resources that you have added. Login Required - We recommend leaving this unchecked for the first 2 months in order to increase adoption of your solution. 18 Complete the Solution Video section Videos are a great way to bring in audience to try your solution. Use this section to provide a link to a video that you wish to feature on your solution page in the VSX Marketplace. To ensure a consistent experience for our customers, this link must refer to a file that is stored in a YouTube account.
19 Complete the Solution Images section Upload images for your solution in this section For this form, the optimal image dimensions are 780 x 440 pixels. Please adhere to this if you want your solutions to have clear images on the CMM. 20 Complete the Solution Certification section Indicate the type of certification for your solution if you have any. If you do not know what these are and are interested, contact vsxalliance@vmvware.com. 21 Complete the Solution Support section This section will allow you to describe the VMware products that your solution is compatible with. You can list multiple VMware products. In this section, you can also include the ways you want your customers to seek support from you for your solution. 22 Complete the Lead Notifications section Lead notifications are messages from customers who download and use your solution. Include the email address or alias of the appropriate person or group.
--- 23 Complete the Partners section This is optional you can skip it. Provide information to customers about your key resellers, OEM partners, systems integrators or hosting providers that are relevant to the sale or implementation of your VMware solution. You may use the field titled Partner Competency to provide information about a partner s pertinent area of expertise. An example of a competency might be Data Network Integration. 24 Click on Save Draft to save your work and return to complete your solution at a later time Click Submit For Approval to send your solution to VMware and initiate the solution approval process. This will send an email to the product team and solution exchange administration team for review.
