Creative Campaign Themes Be a Superhero This theme is a fun way to make individual employees feel special by recognizing them as "superheroes." When you give your time or donate to United Way, you re truly making a "super" difference in our community! Have senior management dress up in superhero costumes for your rally Participate in a Day of Caring project that will make employees feel like superheroes Display superhero-related decorations Give action figures as a small thank you or incentive Get in the Game Put your employees team mentality to work with this theme. This theme is great to strengthen employee morale and build teamwork, plus is a fun, active way to get employees engaged in your campaign. Have a sports trivia competition, either live or via e-mail Participate in a Day of Caring project where your employees can coach kids after school Hold your kickoff in the parking lot, like a tailgate, an provide sports drinks to employees Let employees have a casual Friday where they wear their favorite team colors 1

Use sports-related games (basketball toss, putt-putt tournament, Frisbee game) and incentives (like a company suite for a sporting event, game tickets or team shirts) Reality TV Your adventurous employees will get a kick out of this theme. Friendly competition and teambuilding will engage your employees in a fun, innovative way. Have a Survivor-themed rally, complete with tiki torches Hold adventurous contests like a hot wing eating contest or a blindfolded obstacle course Participate in a Day of Caring project helping kids navigate a ropes course Be a Lifesaver Help your employees connect to their community as they see the real-life difference their donations make. This theme includes rally invitations, thank-you cards, ask cards, personalized poster and lots of graphics. Other ideas for this theme: E-mail stories of real people who have been helped by a lifesaver in the community Bring in a CPR trainer to teach employees how to literally save a life in an emergency Participate in a Day of Caring project at an agency that meets basic needs, like a food pantry or homeless shelter 2

We Love the 80s Party time! Celebrate your employees memories of the 80s while having a fun campaign sprinkled with lots of laughter. Hold an 80s movie marathon Friday as an incentive Participate in a Day of Caring project where you host a senior prom at a retirement home Bring a karaoke machine to your rally Have a worst 80s outfit contest Trivia Challenge Stretch your employees minds while they learn about United Way and their community. This is a great theme for employees who can t regularly leave their desks, as well. Split employees into teams throughout the campaign, and assign points for different activities (e.g., attending the rally, donating, volunteering) Participate in a Days of Caring project and tutor kids after school Hold a staff vs. management trivia contest (live or via e-mail) Send a United Way fact via e-mail each day of the campaign 3

Vegas Use the popular slogan, What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas to put a fun twist on United Way s message of what s raised here, stays here. Have a decorating contest among departments whoever does the best Vegas strip wins! Or, have each department decorate like one of the famous hotel/casinos. Participate in a Day of Caring project where you host a casino night at a senior center, homeless shelter or women s crisis shelter Play e-bingo during the campaign Hand out lottery tickets as incentives Set up a mock roulette wheel at your rally and let employees try their luck Teaming up for the Community Teamwork is the backbone of your workplace, our community and the United Way. This theme will unite your employees as they work for a common cause. Participate in Day of Caring projects in teams of 10, serving in different ways throughout the community Divide staff into teams, and have them come up with a name and logo. You can make t- shirts for each team if your budget allows. Unite staff across different locations and shifts by creating an online hub for the teams Hand out MVP awards at the end of the campaign 4

Lend a Hand Lend a Hand is a great way to actively get your employees involved in their community while they see the value of their contributions. Make a banner that employees can put their handprints on Participate in a Day of Caring project painting or landscaping an agency Encourage employees to try their hand at Sudoku or a crossword puzzle 5
