1. Installing AiMaster and Connecting to Your NAS AiMaster is available for both ios and Android. In this course we will be using the Android version of AiMaster as an example. 1.1 Installing AiMaster STEP 1 Open the Apple App Store or Google Play. Search for AiMaster. Download and install the app. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 3

1.2 Connect to Your NAS using AiMaster STEP 1 Open AiMaster and then select on the [ + ] button in the upper-left hand corner. STEP 2 Select [Auto Discovery]. AiMaster will then scan your local network for ASUSTOR NAS devices. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 4

Note: If you wish to connect via Cloud ID you will need to enter the following information: Cloud ID: Enter you Cloud ID here. For example, if your Cloud ID is johnny then you would enter johnny here. Username: Enter the username for your NAS here. Password: Enter the password for your NAS here. Once you have entered the connection information, select the login button to connect to your NAS. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 5

STEP 3 Select your NAS and then enter in the username and password for it. Select the [Sign in] button once you are done. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 6

2. Shutting Down and Waking Your NAS with AiMaster 2.1 Shutting down and waking your NAS with AiMaster STEP 1 Use AiMaster to connect to your NAS. Select the Settings button from the upper-right hand corner. Select [Shut down] or [Sleep]. The NAS will then either shut down or enter System Sleep Mode S3. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 7

STEP 2 AiMaster will then return to the NAS list page. Select the NAS you wish to wake and then select the power button next to it to wake the NAS. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 8

3. Using AiMaster to Monitor Your NAS 3.1 Using System Info, Activity Monitor, Online Users and Logs If you encounter slow upload or download speeds or suspect any abnormalities with your system, you can use AiMaster to check the following settings and solve any issues. STEP 1 Use AiMaster to connect to your NAS. STEP 2 Select [System Info]. On this page you will be able to view information regarding: System and hard disk temperature Fan speed A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 9

STEP 3 Select [Activity Monitor]. On this page you will be able to view information regarding: CPU and memory status Network traffic Hard disk usage Processes A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 10

STEP 4 Select [Online Users]. On this page you will be able to view information regarding: All online users of the NAS Black List firewall STEP 5 Select [Logs]. On this page you will be able to view information regarding: System Log File Access Log Connection Log A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 11

4. Monitoring Your NAS with Push Notifications 4.1 Configuring push notifications STEP 1 Connect to your NAS using a web browser and log in to ADM. Select [Settings] from the ADM desktop and then select [Notification] from the left hand panel. Under the [Push Notification] tab, select the [Enable Push Notification service] checkbox. Click on [Apply]. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 12

STEP 2 Now, whenever system events occur, your NAS will notify you via push notifications to your mobile device. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 13

5. Creating New User Accounts and Executing One Touch Backups 5.1 Creating a new ADM user account with AiMaster STEP 1 Connect to your NAS using AiMaster. Select [Access Control]. Select the [ + ] button in the upper-right hand corner. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 14

STEP 2 Enter a name and password for the new user and then select the Next button. STEP 3 You will now be able to configure access rights for the new user. In this example we will select [Self defined] and then the Next button. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 15

STEP 4 Here you will be able to configure a group for the new user. In this example we will select [users] and then select the Next button. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 16

STEP 5 Now, you will be able to configure the new user s access rights to shared folders. In this example we will configure access rights for the [Web] shared folder. Select the [Web] shared folder and then select [Read & Write] for access rights. Select the Back button once you are done. You should now be able to see Read & Write under the Download shared folder. STEP 6 Here, you can choose to configure a storage quota for the new user. After you are finished click on the Next button. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 18

STEP 7 Configure App privileges for the user by selecting the Apps that the user will be able to access. Click on the Next button after you are finished. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 19

STEP 8 Confirm your settings and then select the checkmark button once you are done. At this time, the new user will appear in the users list indicating that you have successfully added the new user. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 20

5.2 Executing One Touch Backup jobs STEP 1 Connect an external USB storage device to the USB port on the front of the NAS. STEP 2 Connect to your NAS using AiMaster. Select [One Touch Backup] and then select the Settings icon in the bottom-right hand corner of the screen. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 21

In this example we will select [From USB device to NAS] for Transfer mode, [Copy] for Backup method, and the [Public] shared folder for the Folder path. Select the checkmark button once you are finished with the configurations. Select the Backup icon in the middle of the screen to begin the backup job. A S U S T O R C O L L E G E / 22

6. Additional Notes The examples provided in this course were completed from within a LAN environment. If you wish to use AiMaster to access your NAS from over the Internet, please note the following items: 1. The NAS should have a static WAN IP 2. Port forwarding should be configured correctly (the default NAS system connection port is 8000) 3. You can read NAS 221: Remote Access Using Cloud Connect TM for more information on accessing your NAS from over the internet. 4. You can only wake your NAS from within the LAN environment.
