:-) A little humor... to get us in the right frame of mind We have staff coming to us at every level, they just need more time and support.
Learning Targets You will be able to organize your assessments at your site level to better accommodate permissions and ease access for staff by using folders and sharing. You will understand how we leverage Google Docs to provide data protocols and helper files for administrative team. If time allows we will get to: understanding how Wenatchee offers support and instruction with our just-in-time videos and online support tickets.
Organizing your Site You will be able to organize your assessments at your site level to better accommodate permissions and ease access for staff by using folders and sharing. Assessment Folders Naming Conventions Test Series Custom Reports
Organizing with Folders Our approach to folders was to create a seamless and less troublesome way for staff to access assessments they should be paying attention to, giving, accessing, etc. This is also a great entry point for staff who are a little more tentative about technology and allows for them to always find what they need. Teachers can do this for themselves in "Personal Folders" We systematize at the district level.
Using Folders DEMO
Naming Conventions Our approach to naming any "common" assessment is to have the same structure so that they can sort by Title and like things are grouped together for them. DEMO
Summary Assessments Create your own summary assessments, map them, upload data. Just takes some time. Use your imagination we keep, Title service lists, intervention notes, qualitative data, conference information, virtually anything can be put in the system... then you can report on them. You will have to rely on DD for easily uploading assessments that have predetermined format (psst... ask them for directives for NWEA!)
Creating and Uploading We use for quick access to data that is otherwise not available in an easy way. If users have to go to EDS... they won't use.
Using ID Finder Use this utility if a data file you need to upload has the wrong type of ID, local or state. In Admin Tools/Import Tools/Import Utilities/Student ID Finder Upload a csv file with at least first, last and the state or local id. Map the fields and then click on "Students Found" This will be the same file with the student id's now ready to upload into DD.
State and Local ID Finder Map the fields and then click on "Students Found" This will be the same file with the other id's ready to upload into DD.
Test Series Create Test Series for all common assessments per subject. Tutorials for Test Series in DataDirector help. Allows you to build a single report that will show multiple grades. This will make it easy for staff. DEMO
Report on Test Series Create a report that puts it all together for them to show growth. USES TEST SERIES for reporting so that you have only one report DEMO
Custom Reports My workflow for dynamic reporting: ALWAYS START WITH WHO - Students Make that a report Re-Name Modify columns Rename Columns Share Excel Template Link on Google Doc Podcast/Blog DEMO
Excel Templates for Reports Use an Excel sheet to show growth, graphs, etc. provide link to template in report description. DEMO
(Advanced) Excel Templates This will take away the barriers for staff in their understanding of Excel. The best way to get growth data. DEMO
Leveraging Google Docs We leverage our Google Apps for Education site to allow for quick access to data, reports, and protocols so that staff don't have to "wonder" what to look at including our leadership team. DEMO
