COURSE DESCRIPTIONS Fundamentals of Finance, Accounting, & Economics This course details the fundamentals of financial accounting and finance, as well as microeconomic concepts, and touches on quantitative skills needed to pursue the Master of Science in Finance degree or other master degrees that entail taking elective courses in finance. Foundations of Investments & Corporate Finance This course builds on finance fundamentals to provide a more advanced treatment of topics in investment theories, portfolio selection, and corporate finance. Advanced Corporate Finance This course covers topics in corporate finance and business law, which include the financial and legal aspects of mergers, leasing, and financial strategy. International Finance, Valuation, & Financial Statement Analysis This course uses an interdisciplinary approach, between finance and accounting, to build knowledge of international finance, financial statement analysis, and company and project valuation. Financial Decision Making This course focuses on decision making theory and behavioral finance, and includes case applications to apply theory to topics such as agency problems, conflicts of interest, and money management. Students learn about the psychological, social, and cultural determinants of suboptimal managerial behavior and how those common mistakes could be avoided. Financial Modeling & Derivatives This course explores modelling applications for corporate finance and investments topics, with a focus on financial options, futures, swaps, and financial engineering.
