Faire du Shopping Web Quest Introduction Felicitations! You won a contest! As your prize, you will receive round trip airfare to Paris, two nights at the posh Hotel George V, and two celebrity meetings. Unfortunately, the airline lost your luggage and you need to buy a whole new wardrobe for the next two days! In order to complete your quest, you will need to finish four tasks. To start, complete the euro/dollar conversion activity. When you have finished, see Mme. Stevens for your carte de crédit (credit card)! The second task is to shop online for two complete outfits that you will wear during your weekend trip. You will be having lunch with famous French actor Jean Reno (The Professional, French Kiss, Mission Impossible, The Da Vinci Code) at the café Les Deux Magots. Then, you will be having dinner at the famous restaurant Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower with French president François Hollande. For the third task, you will need to buy souvenirs for some family and friends with your remaining money! Bon voyage! Task 1 Find out what the current exchange rate is from the dollar to the euro. Complete and turn in the Task 1 worksheet by the end of the period. When you turn in your work, Mme. Stevens will give you your carte de crédit with the amount of euro you can spend on your trip. Use www.xe.com to convert your currency. Task 2 Go online at the French shopping websites listed below to purchase two complete outfits. The first outfit should be casual for your lunch with Jean Reno. The second should be formal for your dinner at the Eiffel Tower with the president! Your outfits must be complete with appropriate clothing, footwear, accessories (ex. jewelry, tie, purse, etc.), and outerwear. Be careful to stay within your budget and buy clothes appropriate to the season. Your trip will take place in the spring. You cannot wear the same thing twice! C est un grand faux-pas! Here are the sites: www.promod.fr www.laredoute.fr www.galerieslafayette.com

Be sure to record everything you buy and identify the website on the Task 2 worksheet. There is a size conversion chart on the last page of your vocabulary packet to help you figure out what sizes you should purchase. Convert your expenditures as you go to ensure that you spend as close to your budget as possible! Task 3 If you come home empty handed, your family and friends will be very unhappy! Make sure to choose some souvenirs for five to six people. Do not go over your budget! Finally, record your reasons for purchasing the souvenirs you chose for each person.
