PROGRAM OVERVIEW WHAT IS A 1+1 NURSING EDUCATION PROGRAM? Hondros College offers a 1 + 1 Nursing Education program to provide flexibility and options as you work toward your career goals. Step 1 of the program is the LPN program, which will take approximately 1 year to complete. Once you successfully complete the LPN program and pass the NCLEX-PN exam; you may choose to step out of the program and begin your career as an LPN, or you may choose to move straight to the AD program (step 2). The Associates Degree with a major in Nursing (AD) program will take 6 quarters to complete and will result in the ability to earn your RN license. PN PROGRAM The LPN curriculum will take students less than one year to complete, and is offered at all three of our campuses Students will take classroom, online and clinical courses for a total of 4 quarters. Students can enroll in the program 4 times per year (January, April, July, and October). The program is a full day time program Students start the clinicial experience in their first term, allowing them to use what they learn in the classroom immediately The LPN program requires approximately 12 hours of clinical practice per week depending on the course. Clinical shifts are usually 6-12 hours in length, and may be scheduled during the day, evening, or on the weekends. We have clinical agreements with long term care facilities, MRDD facilities, day care, and hospitals to provide a thorough, hands-on learning experience for our students. Completion will result in ability to take the NCLEX-PN in order to practice as an LPN. ADN PROGRAM The ADN program will take students 6 quarters to complete, and is currently offered at our Cincinnati and Columbus locations. Students must be an LPN in order to enroll, or have completed level 1 with Hondros College Students will take classroom, online and clinical courses for a total of 6 quarters. The RN program requires approximately 12 hours of clinical practice per week depending on the course. Clinical shifts are usually 6-12 hours in length, and may be scheduled during the day, evening, or on the weekends. We have clinical agreements with large and small hospitals, long term care facilities, hospice, and surgery clinics to provide a thorough, hands-on learning experience for our students. The program is only offered full-time Students can enroll in the program 4 times per year (January, April, July, and October). Course study will include advanced nursing concepts and patient care-related subjects Completion will result in ability to take the NCLEX-RN in order to practice as an RN.
