Page 10 of 10 1 At NUS, students are charged a cohort-based fee. Under the cohort-based fee system, tuition fees for an intake cohort of students will be fixed throughout the student s entire candidature. While fees continue to be reviewed annually and adjustments made as and when necessary with each new cohort of students, each new cohort will know the exact amount of tuition fees they have to pay per year throughout their entire candidature. This enables students to plan better for the financing of their undergraduate studies. 2 The per annum fee amount, covering Semesters 1 and 2 of an Academic Year (AY), is payable in two equal instalments at the start of each semester. Semestral fees are payable as long as a student s candidature remains active. Students who read modules in the Special Term will pay a per-module fee amount. 3 These fees are exclusive of GST. The applicable GST is subsidized by the Ministry of Education (MOE). 4 Students of the AY2008/2009 intake cohort and beyond who are not in receipt of the Tuition Grant will have to pay the fee amounts as quoted here. For such students, the fees to be paid are inclusive of the prevailing GST. 5 Students in MOE-subsidized programmes who are Citizens and aged 40 and above (based on the year which the student turns 40 years old) may be eligible for higher subsidy under the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy. The fees payable will be 60% lower than the standard subsidized fees payable by other an students. The amount of fees payable will be reflected in their individual student bill. Students who are not eligible for MOE subsidy are also not eligible for the enhanced subsidy. 6 From the intake of AY2008/2009 onwards, in line with government policy, fee differentiation between Citizens, Residents and Students has been sharpened to reflect the privileges of citizenship. 7 For the time being, Faculties/Schools not on a modular curriculum structure (esp. Medicine and Dentistry) do not offer Special Term modules. 8 Fees for programmes offered by Yale-NUS College may be found on its website.
