5 COURSE FEE CONSOLIDATION Issue: Reduce overall number of Instructional Enhancement Fees* Proposal: Eliminate 7,200 Instructional Enhancement Fees Maintain revenue to the colleges Increase undergraduate designated tuition Add college-based differential tuition Add graduate level college advancement fee 5 * Does not include the Health Science Center

6 COURSE FEE CONSOLIDATION Benefits: Allows for improved management of funds and increased flexibility of revenue to meet university needs Increases funding available for need based financial aid Provides incentives for summer enrollment Simplifies tuition and fees bills 6

7 GUARANTEED TUITION AND FEE FRAMEWORK Issue: Comply with House Bill 29 and with TAMU System Requirements to offer a Guaranteed Tuition and Fee Plan for Undergraduate Students Proposal: Fixed rate for students based on degree plan Includes tuition and mandatory fees Excludes non-mandatory fees (e.g. field trip fees, study abroad fees, lab fees, parking fees) and other academic costs (e.g. sports passes, room & board, books, supplies) 7

12 GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL STUDENT IMPACT Course Fee Change Impact: Charges a new college advancement fee to replace average course fees charged by semester Eliminates graduate and professional course fees Law School Students: Full-time flat rate capped at 16 hours Additional hourly rate charged for each semester credit hour in excess of 16 hours 12
