TORUŃ the birthplace of Nicholas Copernicus, a prominent trade centre in the Middle Ages - in Poland is called 'Cracow of the North'. Torun is the most Gothic urban complex in Poland, one of the most important tourist centres of unique value in the state, right after Cracow the second richest of original and best preserved historical monuments city in Poland. Numerous museums and other attractions. The whole complex of Torun Old Quarter, of unique value, measured by world standards, consists of three urban sections: Old City (1233), New City (1264) and the Teutonic Knights' Castle (mid. 13th c.). It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The medieval urban and architectonic complex has preserved on the whole and constitutes a precious document of tradition and past. The more precious as it is one of the not numerous cities that hasn't been destroyed during the world war II. Torun is also one of the most important science and cultural centres in Poland with its bigest and oldest university in the North. ŚWIECIE One of the oldest cities In Poland. The most important monument in the city is the Teutonic Castle from the XIV century
GDAŃSK Gdańsk is a city located in the north of Poland, near the place where the Vistula river meets the Baltic Sea. It is Poland's 6th largest city and most important sea port. It has existed since the 10th century and many times played a very important role in Poland's history (for example: this is where Solidarity, the movement which helped end Communist rule in Central and Eastern Europe, came to life). In Gdańsk you can get to know the thousand-year history of the beautiful port on the Baltic. You will see Neptune, the god of the sea or take a walk down the Long Market and call at Artus Court. You can walk in the footsteps of the main character of The Tin Drum or look at the stars of Hevelius. In its "golden age" the city enjoyed the specific status of a municipal republic. It was also a melting pot of cultures and ethnical groups. The air of tolerance and the wealth built on trade made culture, science, and art flourish. Today, works by outstanding Gdańsk masters can be admired in museums, churches, and galleries. These collections, as well as the historic sites of enchanting beauty witness a thousand years of the city's continued existence. GDYNIA Polish Film Festival. Gdynia is a young, modern and vivid city immersed in the scenic coastal landscape: five sandy beaches in close vicinity of the green slopes of the moraine hills surrounding the city from the west. The nearby forests offer opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking tours, cycle excursions, mountain biking competitions in the many picturesque valleys and ravines. Guided walks along the seashore, beach contests, swimming lessons and golf are available to holiday makers. In 2005, the beach in the city centre was awarded the prestigious international certificate of Blue Flag recognising the high sanitary and safety standard. Gdynia is the only city in Poland and one of the few in Europe with a long and easily accessible coastline. The Marina, the biggest one in Poland for about 200 boats can host 50-60 visiting yachts of up to 20 m length. Gdynia, a thriving city, has worked out its own, specific formula of artistic expression underlying its modernism and uniqueness:
SOPOT Sopot is located in the North of Poland. It has wonderful hotels, beaches, pubs, restaurants and forests. Sopot is one of the best spots for summer holidays in Europe. Sopot is one of the smallest but one of the most beautiful Polish towns. A big forest surrounds Sopot to the west and Gdansk Gulf to the east. During summer there are more visitors than citizens from all parts of Europe. MALBORK The castle of the Virgin Mary, the ancient capital of the Teutonic Order, the largest Gothic fortress in Europe, a UNESCO heritage site. Not without reason has Malbork Castle been called the largest mountain of bricks north of the Alps. However Malbork is more than just a castle. It is situated in an exceptionally interesting region called śuławy. The area was settled by Dutch Mennonites, who left a unique architecture of arcaded houses and a network of canals still called Little Holland.
