Bachelor of Science in Nursing The School of Nursing offers instruction leading to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree. The course of study combines general education in the humanities and the social, biological and natural sciences with education in the theory and practice of nursing. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX exam which is the State of Michigan registered nurse licensure examination.
BSN- Accelerated Second Degree Only second-degree students are eligible for admission. Combines general education with education in the theory and practice of nursing Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX exam which is the State of Michigan registered nurse licensure examination. Full time, 12-month program.
RN-BSN/MSN Degree Diploma and Associate Degree in Nursing graduates who are Registered Nurses have an opportunity to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. All required nursing courses are offered online, with no requirement to travel to campus or other remote locations for classes.
Criteria for Admission to Traditional BSN Pre-major standing: Admission to OU as a transfer student Major standing: Completion of admission requirements.
Basic BSN Preference Status Preference in admission decisions is given to students who take 5 or more courses at OU. All Nursing courses must be taken at OU.

Criteria for Admission Pre-major Standing Transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 in order to be admitted to the SECS. Students with the required GPA are admitted directly into the major. Major Standing Students apply for major standing once they have completed both the math, science and core courses.
OU-Macomb Offerings Major programs that offer courses at OU-Macomb site: Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science Students cannot complete degree at OU-Macomb site. Interested students should meet with an academic adviser at least 1 year prior to enrollment at OU. Course sequencing is very important to students being full-time, so dual enrollment during their last semester at the community college can help.
Points of Pride Construction of the new SECS Engineering Center will begin in December 2012. The anticipated completion is fall 2014. The Formula SAE Team is now 51 st in the world, 13 th in the country and 2 nd in Michigan. 94 technology and engineering companies attended the October Career Fair on campus to recruit Oakland University students.

ACHIEVE Program ACHIEVE is a career and professional development program, which teaches students important skills to be successful in the business world and give them a competitive edge in gaining employment in the job market. As of fall 2009, all incoming business students go through the ACHIEVE program. ACHIEVE consists of three (0 credit) courses. SBC 199 & 299 required for major standing. SBC 399 is major-specific.

Elementary Education Now that school districts in Michigan must offer full-day kindergarten in order to receive full funding from the State, our Early Childhood program is becoming more and more popular. Students complete a practicum in the Lowery Center twice, in addition to fields and student teaching in local school districts.
Criteria for Admission Pre-major Standing: Admission to OU Major Standing: 2.80 cumulative GPA for Elementary Education 2.80 cumulative GPA, with a 3.0 overall in the teachable major and minor, for STEP
Availability for Major Program The professional course sequence for the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Arts in Teaching with Elementary Education certification is available at OU Macomb. No professional education (i.e. pedagogy) coursework can be transferred in from any of the community colleges.
Notable Achievement The only classroom experience that many students at other institutions have is student teaching. Here at OU, students have a field placement in a classroom every semester that they are enrolled in education coursework.

Points of Pride The BIS program is the most flexible option for transfer students as it utilizes all transferable credits allowed and students can select courses based on their career interests and goals. It is also popular amongst those receiving Michigan Works funding, since the program can be completed in two years (or less) if a student already holds an associate degree, or 62 transfer credits.
