5 ON-LINE PROGRAM AT IN- STATE TUITION RATES Oakland University School of Nursing offers all required degree completion sequence, non-nursing, and general education courses for RNs are offered on-line. This allows registered nurses to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree with maximum convenience, reduced travel to campus or other locations at significant savings by paying in-state (resident) tuition rates. (out of state students pay in-state tuition)

11 THERE ARE EIGHT REQUIREDNURSING COURSES NRS 310 Conceptual Foundations of Practice (4) NRS 340 Health Promotion in the Community (4) NRS 355 Nursing Leadership & Health Care Issues (4) NRS 426 Nursing:Home and Community/RN (4) NRS 450 Nursing: Vulnerable Populations for the RN (4) NRS 452 Scientific Inquiry II (4) NRS 474 Nursing Synthesis for the RN (4) NRS 475 Nursing Synthesis for the RN Clinical (4) NRS 310 is taken as the first course NRS 310 is a prerequisite/corequisite the other NRS courses. NRS 474/475 are taken as the last courses in the sequence.
12 NRS 475 NURSING NRS 475 is the only clinical course requirement. Clinical assignments will be geared toward the community. The course is organized as a series of related written assignments, called deliverables. It is estimated that at least 168 clock hours will be required to complete all the assignments. Students can schedule interviews/visits/appointments necessary for the assignment at their own convenience.

18 ASSOCIATE DEGREE GRADUATES When you transfer from a community college your nursing courses are condense to thirteen credits. For example you may have taken 47 nursing credits for your associates degree, when you transfer the nursing credits transfer as NRS 299P for 13 Credits *Students are only allowed to transfer a total of 63 credits from a community college.

20 NRS 399P NRS 399P is competency based on you currently being a registered nurse with an active nursing license. Nursing competency credit does not require an exam. You are able to register for NRS 399P in any regular semester. Competency credit tuition is at a reduce rate. These credits are awarded based on competency, demonstrated by your nursing license (by passing the NCLEX) To satisfy the competency requirement you register for the credits but you are not required to attended class or submit course work or take an exam.

23 RN/MSN Degree Completion Sequence at Oakland University The RN/MSN program is selective and designed for high achieving Registered Nurses who want to pursue graduate education after they complete the requirements for the undergraduate degree. Students who wish to enter this program are first admitted to the RN/BSN program.
24 Admissions Requirements to the RN/MSN Program To receive approval to transfer to the RN-MSN program, graduates from an associate degree nursing program (ADN) must have achieved an ADN cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Students who do not have an ADN program GPA above 3.5 can request a change in status to the RN/MSN program after maintaining an OU undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher in 12 credits of required non-nursing and nursing courses in the RN/BSN program. These 12 credits must include NRS 310.
25 RN/MSN program Once admitted to the RN/MSN program, students can take two graduate level courses (NRS 515 and NRS 516) and pay undergraduate tuition rates for these graduate credits. Before students can register for NRS 515 and 516 they must request a change in program status from the nursing program academic adviser and be admitted to the RN/MSN program
26 RN/MSN program The request for a program transfer can be submitted at any point after admission to the RN/BSN program when an applicant meets the minimum requirements for a program transfer. NRS 515 and 516 replace NRS 355 and 450 in the RN/BSN program and graduate courses NRS 521 and 610 will be waived once a student begins course work toward the MSN degree.
27 Early Admission to MSN Program: Once a student in the RN-MSN program attains undergraduate senior level status (minimum of 91 credits) the student is able to formally apply for admission to either the: Nursing Education Family Nurse Practitioner Adult/Gerontological Nurse Practitioner Program. **The nurse anesthesia program is not open to this early admission opportunity.
28 Early Admission to MSN Program Con t: With the exception of the BSN degree all other graduate level MSN admission requirements must be fully met for early admission status. When a student is officially accepted into the MSN program, he/she will receive a graduate program Plan of Study outlining the course sequence to complete the MSN program.
29 REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION Satisfactory completion of a diploma or associate degree in nursing. Valid RN license. A grade point average of 2.50 or better in previous course work.
30 HOW DO I APPLY FOR ADMISSION Submit an undergraduate application on line. Oakland University does not charge an application fee. ( Have official transcripts sent to Oakland University, Office of Admissions, 101 North Foundation Hall, Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan , from each college, university, or hospital you have attended. Transcripts must be mailed directly from the institution to the Admissions Office. When your application file is complete, the Admissions Office will forward it to the School of Nursing for review. A School of Nursing adviser will review your application, including previous college or university course work, and verify your RN license.
31 UPON ADMISSION TO THE UNIVERSITY You will receive information regarding a new student orientation to Oakland University at which time a School of Nursing Academic Adviser will assist you in selecting courses. After new student orientation, a School of Nursing Academic Adviser is available to meet with you upon request in order to assist you with evaluating of transfer credits and developing a Plan of Study
