The nhsl medical educaion managemen eam The Deparmen of Medical Educaion managemen eam is involved in he sraegic developmen of he NHS Lanarkshire programmes and he co-ordinaion of heir delivery. Direcor of Medical Educaion Responsible for he developmen and managemen of all aspecs of medical raining from suden o senior saff across boh acue and primary care divisions of NHSL Depuy Direcors of Medical Educaion The hree depuies ake differen leads in regard o a) developmen and provision of CPD accredied generic raining courses for Senior Medical Saff and b) local sraegic and financial planning in regard o undergraduae and general pracice componens of he deparmen work. Training Qualiy Leads The Training Qualiy Leads, based in each of he hree Acue Lanarkshire Hospials, are responsible for a variey of aspecs of raining including he co-ordinaion of rainee hospial-based inducion; he local managemen of raining faciliies; qualiy conrol in relaion o raining delivery in deparmens; rainee suppor, career advice and advocacy. Foundaion Programme Tuors Three Foundaion Tuors are based in NHSL in relaion o four Wes of Scoland Foundaion Programmes. They oversee he raining delivery, assessmen and suppor of he 120 NHSL Foundaion Trainees. Sub-Deans Hospial Sub-Deans are aached o each of he hree NHSL Acue Hospials represening he Universiy of Glasgow and co-ordinaing he eaching provision and faciliies for Glasgow medical sudens. In addiion, a Wishaw General here is also Subdeans who represen he needs of sudens from he Universiy of Dundee; he Universiy of Edinburgh; and Obseric eaching. Clinical Skills Consulan The Clinical Skills Lead is responsible for he delivery and developmen of all clinical pracical skills including programmes relevan o undergraduae and posgraduae medicine. Resusciaion raining is also managed by he Clinical Skills Lead, including he provision of ALS, ILS, and PILS courses. IT Lead The IT Lead manages he provision of medical educaion IT equipmen for Junior Docors, he mainenance of he Medical Educaion websies, and he delivery of he Video Conferencing faciliy for use in eaching and raining. Business Suppor Lead The Business Suppor Manager is responsible for overseeing he budgeary elemens of he Deparmen. The Cenral Office eam comprises adminisraive saff ha suppor our raining across all our sies. They are responsible for coordinaing he design and provision of raining for undergraduaes, medical rainees and senior medical saff. In addiion hey are responsible for he design and producion of our wrien and elecronic maerials. However, some have a paricular level of involvemen: Educaional Supervisors Educaional supervisors suppor and assess Foundaion and Specialy rainees. Training o suppor hem in his role is eiher provided locally or funded by NHSL. Clinical Supervisors The vas majoriy of senior saff will be called upon o ac as clinical supervisors for eiher Foundaion or Specialy rainees. Clinical Teachers Alhough many senior saff are involved in he regular provision of eaching o medical undergraduaes, some individuals have aken on an addiional level of aciviy. This may be hrough regular commimen as PBL faciliaors, or hrough specific conraced eaching aciviy ha reflecs a specialis ineres, expressed hrough heir job-plan. Lead Clinical Trainers There are currenly seven members of senior saff aking a lead in he developmen and provision of skills-based eaching in heir roles as lead clinical rainers. In addiion, hey are championing specific aspecs of eaching or raining wihin he unis in which hey work. Clinical Teaching Fellows The clinical eaching fellows are middle grade rainees who are devoing a leas a year o he pursui of specialised raining in medical educaion and is delivery. Each is involved in he pursui of a Diploma in Medical Educaion as well as being par of he developmenal projecs and research wihin he deparmen. In addiion, each conribues o he medical educaion managemen meeings. They are rained while in pos (if no already) as PBL faciliaors and, where invied, as ALS insrucors. They also paricipae in he eaching of 3 rd, 4 h and 5 h year medical sudens as well as in he uorial and scenario-based raining for Foundaion rainees. Clinical Skills Team The medical educaion clinical skills eam are ofen comprised of senior CCU or ITU nurses before aking on such roles, hey have developed a paricular ineres, in skill-orienaed eaching and raining, especially in regard o he arres and peri-arres siuaion. They provide a comprehensive resusciaion and clinical skills programme for all NHSL clinical saff. In addiion, hey also ake a paricular lead in he developmen and delivery of new programmes for medical sudens and Foundaion rainees as well as in regard o scenariobased programmes for senior medical saff.

The Lecure Theare, conference room and each raining room have SmarBoard projecion faciliies, faciliaing group ineracion and live key noe recording. All raining rooms and he simulaion room are linked o he observaion room by sae-of-he-ar SMOTS cameras and microphones enabling recording or direcion of he muliple simulaneous scenarios in he differen rooms. Modern equipmen, ranging from simple models o sophisicaed high-fideliy manikins is used for eaching diagnosic, procedural and reamen skills.

Library resources Libraries are available on each of he acue sies and are accessible 24/7. They are saffed during office hours Monday-Friday. Access is available using he hospial securiy swipe card sysem. Each library has a muli-disciplinary collecion of books, journals, videos & DVDs. The collecions conain over 5,000 books covering all clinical subjec areas including nursing. The library also has a small, bu diverse collecion of managemen, leadership, eambuilding and compuing exbooks. Journal access is also provided. The online caalogue for all of Lanarkshire library collecions can be accessed from hp://www.shelca.org. In addiion, he libraries also have compuers, priners, phoocopiers, scanners, small scale binding (provided a a cos), video and DVD players for saff o access.
