PRECURE RETREAD PROCESS Goodyear Dunlop delivers only the highest quality precure retreads to commercial truck fleets. During Goodyear Dunlop's precure process, vulcanized tread rubber is firmly bonded to a buffed casing and placed in a curing chamber where the tread becomes securely adhered to the tire. FACTS AND FIGURES Approximately 7 million retreaded tyres were sold in Europe in 2005. The majority of these were medium truck tyres. For most fleets, tyres represent the third largest item in their operating budget, right after labour and fuel costs. The lowest possible cost-per-mile is achieved with a good tyre management program that includes the use of quality retreads. Retreads are the replacement tyres of choice for most truckers. Retreads are not only cost effective, but they are dependable, reliable and safe. SAFETY FEATURES Retreaded tyres can be driven at the same legal speeds as comparable new tyres with no loss in safety, performance, or comfort. Commercial aircraft retreads are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration. Military aircraft retreads are approved by the various military services. Retreading conserves hundreds of millions of gallons of oil every year. Tyres are basically petro-chemical products. It takes 100 litres of oil to manufacture one new truck tyre. Most of the oil is found in the casing, which is reused in the retreading process. As a result, it takes only 32 litres of oil to produce a retread. Retreading is truly recycling! Approximately 70 percent of the cost of a new tyre is in the tyre body. With proper maintenance, retreading permits the continued use of your important investment.
