Building 80 get connected guide > RMIT wireless network > mydesktop mydesktop is the technology College of Business students use to access their learning and teaching software applications, the internet and printers. mydesktop can be accessed by mobile computing devices such as laptops, tablets and smart phones anywhere on campus, via the RMIT wireless network. This guide will help you get connected to the RMIT wireless network and mydesktop.

1. Connect to the RMIT network Follow steps 1 to 5 1. Search for the wireless network RMIT-University. 2. Click on RMIT-University. 3. You may be asked to authenticate enter your Username (E, S or X number) and Password 4. Open an Internet Browser on your device, such as Internet Explorer or Safari. 5. The RMIT Acceptable Use Policy will open in the browser, read through and select Agree. Now follow the Student or Staff option relevant to you. Option A: For Students (any device type) 1. Select Students option. 2. Click Register. 3. Navigate to a new page. You are now connected to the Option B: For Staff with a Windows Laptop / MacBook / Linux 2. Enter your Username (E or X number) and Password 3. Follow the prompts to download and install the Bradford Agent to your device. Your device may ask you to Run or Save the program: a. If you select Run the program, follow the prompts on the screen to install the Bradford Agent. b. If you select Save the program or if your browser automatically downloaded the program, navigate to the downloaded file. The location of the download will depend on which Operating System and Internet Browser you use. When you have located the Bradford Agent file, select and install the file. Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the installation. 4. Enter your Username (E or X number) and Password 5. Close and re-open your browser. 6. When the application is successfully installed you will see a small tick in the top left hand corner of a MacBook or a small coloured square in the bottom right hand corner of your Windows Laptop. Option C: For Staff with an ipad / iphone 2. Enter your Username (E or X number) and Password 3. You will be automatically directed to the App Store to install the Bradford Agent on your device. To do this, you will need to use your Apple ID. 4. Install the Bradford Agent on your device. Enter your Username (E or X number) and Password when prompted by the Bradford Agent and continue. 5. Re-open your browser. 6. Navigate to a new page. You are now connected to the Option D: For Staff with all other devices 2. Locate and select the link for other device access. 3. Click Register. 4. Navigate to a new page. You are now connected to the Students, get connected before 10 August 2012 and be in the running for some great prizes!

2. mydesktop download, install and log on (first time) Windows Laptop / MacBook 1. Open a web browser and go to mydesktop.rmit.edu.au. 2. Enter your Username (E, S or X number) and Password. 3. Click Log On. 4. An auto-detect process will check to see if the Citrix Receiver is already installed. 5. Click the large Install button and if prompted read and agree to any license terms. 6. Follow the prompts to download and install the Citrix Receiver to your device. Your device may ask you to Run or Save the program: a. If you select Run the program, follow the prompts on the screen to install the Citrix Receiver. b. If you select Save the program or if your browser automatically downloaded the program, navigate to the downloaded file. The location of the download will depend on which Operating System and Internet Browser you use. When you have located the Citrix Receiver file, select and install the file. Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the installation. 7. Once the installation has completed, click OK. 8. You may need to restart your browser and go to: mydesktop.rmit.edu.au, and re-enter your Username (E, S or X number) and Password. 9. Click on RMIT Student Desktop to launch mydesktop. iphone / ipad / Android 1. Search for the Citrix Receiver using either the Apple AppStore, the Android PlayStore or other application store for your mobile platform. 2. Once located, follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the free Citrix Receiver to your device. 3. Once the installation has completed, launch the Citrix Receiver. 4. Click Add Account or Set up my enterprise apps. 5. In the Address field enter: mydesktop.rmit.edu.au. 6. Click Next. 7. Enter your Username (E, S or X number) and Password. 8. Enter rmit in the Domain field. 9. Click Save. 10. Click on RMIT Student Desktop to launch mydesktop. 3. Log off All devices 1. Once you have finished using mydesktop, click the Windows Start button. 2. Click Shutdown or Log Out. 3. This will take you back to your local device where you should Log Off and Close the Citrix Receiver or browser window. Note: If you forget to log out, you may experience issues logging back into your session next time. 4. Log on to mydesktop (subsequent) Windows Laptop / MacBook 1. Open a web browser and go to the following page: mydesktop.rmit.edu.au. 2. Enter your Username (E, S or X number) and Password. 3. Click Log On. 4. Click on RMIT Student Desktop to launch mydesktop. iphone / ipad / Android 1. Launch the Citrix Receiver. 2. Select your Account from the list. 3. Enter your Username (E, S or X number) and Password. 4. Click Log On. 5. Click on RMIT Student Desktop to launch mydesktop.

Help connecting to mydesktop These options are available for you to get connected to mydesktop. Make sure you get connected today. DIY You can connect to mydesktop and the wireless network by following the instructions in this guide. Help is available online at www.rmit.edu.au/students/ services/mydesktop. BLITZ Sessions Attend a BLITZ session at SAB. These sessions will get you up and running and provide assistance with any issues. Drop in to our BLITZ room: Room 1, Level 3 Attend a one-off BLITZ session: These sessions run every hour on the hour from 9am to 4pm, Mon Fri Room 080.02.002 25 Jul & 1 Aug 9.30-10.30am or 12.30-1.30pm Room 080.09.012 23, 26, 30 Jul 12.30-1.30pm 31 Jul 10.30-11.30am 2 Aug 1.30-2.30pm Room 080.10.017 24 Jul 10.30-11.30am Students, get connected before 10 August 2012 and be in the running for some great prizes! Navigating mydesktop General navigation of mydesktop is no different to your normal university computing environment. There are however a few useful navigation features located on the mydesktop toolbar. To display the toolbar click on the small toolbar grip displayed at the top or bottom of the screen: Depending on the device you are using a different toolbar will be displayed. Key Returns you to your host device, however your mydesktop session will still be active and logged in. To return to your mydesktop session, click on the RMIT Student Desktop icon in the Citrix Receiver or browser window. Enables you to lock your mydesktop session, log off, change a password or launch the Task Manager. Toggles mydesktop to run in a window. By default mydesktop launches in full screen. Disconnects from your mydesktop session, however your session is still active and logged in. To return to your mydesktop session, click on RMIT Student Desktop icon in the Citrix Receiver. To disconnect and log off from mydesktop completely, click on Start > Shutdown as you normally would on a lab computer. For handheld devices only: Displays the handheld device s on screen keyboard. Printing from mydesktop Printers in SAB are accessed wirelessly once you are connected to mydesktop. Print jobs will be sent to a global print queue and you can swipe your staff/student card or enter your staff/student ID at any printer to release your printing. You will need to register your ID on a printer the first time you print. Saving files in mydesktop If you save a document in mydesktop, this document is saved to the H drive the personal drive allocated to each RMIT staff member and student. You can access this drive through the internet at home or away from the RMIT network via RMIT Remote Access. You can also choose to save to a USB from mydesktop and transfer to the local drive or cloud service. You can access your USB or cloud service while in mydesktop.
