Kreissparkasse Köln Brief profile Kreissparkasse Köln Brief profile FOR OVER 160 YEARS FOR ITS CUSTOMERS ON THE SPOT Kreissparkasse Köln, one of Germany s largest savings banks, is a public universal credit institution for all for private and corporate customers as well as for municipal and institutional customers. It has existed in the legal form of an associated special-purpose savings bank (Zweckverbandssparkasse) since 1923. The association that holds the savings bank is made up of the Rhein-Erft-Kreis, the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis and the Oberbergischer Kreis. The economic existence of Kreissparkasse Köln can be traced back to the date on which its oldest legal predecessor, the savings bank of the town of Wipperfürth, was founded (1853), and thus already looks back at 163 years of successful business. The business region of the Kreissparkasse Köln stretches about 100 km from east to west and north to south and, at 3,650 km 2, covers four administrative districts as well as 42 towns and municipalities. Through membership of the Rheinischer Sparkassen- und Giroverband in Düsseldorf (Rhenish savings bank and giro association), Kreissparkasse Köln is affiliated with the Deutscher Sparkassen- und Giroverband e.v. (German savings bank and giro association). Our branches Kreissparkasse Köln offers qualified, personal advice to private customers in all of its branches. In addition to advice for private customers, the 30 regional branches (flagship-stores) also offer customers advice on issues ranging from assets and securities to private banking, including asset management and financial planning as well as advice on construction financing, advice from insurance experts and advice for business customers. Our advice for corporate customers Corporate customers receive special support from qualified corporate customer advisers in the 8 corporate customer administrations at 18 locations on the issues of operating loans, investment loans, equity financing or public funding programmes. The experts have well-founded regional market knowledge and make rapid decisions on the spot. Accessible in every way Direct and personal In the economic region between the Erft, Sieg and Wupper, Kreissparkasse Köln serves around 1 million people in monetary and financial affairs. The business model of Kreissparkasse Köln is primarily based on a regional presence and proximity to its customers. This is also manifested in its decentralised structure with branches, self-service points and stations for mobile branches for its customers as well as by online advice optionally with contact to their personal advisers in the branches. In addition the Kreissparkasse Köln can be contacted over the social networks facebook, twitter, youtube, instagram, xing and google+. Advice in the branches and by video chat: Laura Pfitzner, financial adviser at Kreissparkasse Köln 4 Kreissparkasse Köln Company Guide 2016/2017 5

Kreissparkasse Köln Brief profile Online advice In addition to personal contact locally in the branches, customers also have the opportunity to contact their personal advisers in the branches and corporate customer administrations of Kreissparkasse Köln over the internet via video, voice or text chat. The usual high standard of security of Kreissparkasse Köln is guaranteed when doing so. It isn t necessary to install additional software either. The benefit of Kreissparkasse Köln: Our customers can decide for themselves which way to reach the familiar face of their savings bank and they can decide this each time. Access via the homepage of Kreissparkasse Köln, www.ksk-koeln.de. Mobile branches and self-service points In addition to branches, Kreissparkasse Köln also ensures an extensive basic supply of financial services through its self-service points and four mobile branches. The staff of the mobile branch is available to customers for cash and standard financial services or even making appointments with advisers in one of the neighbouring branches. The mobile branches are also equipped with an ATM and account statement printer. One of the four mobile branches of Kreissparkasse Köln in action CUSTOMERS MONEY IS SAFE WITH the Kreissparkasse KÖLN In providing security for their deposits, customers profit from the bank s robust business model as well as the excellent capital base and profitability of Kreissparkasse Köln. In addition, deposit insurance required by law and the bank s own voluntary measures provide additional security. 1. Legal insurance of deposits: customers money deposited with the Kreissparkasse Köln is protected up to an amount of Euro 100,000 per investor by the German Law on the Insurance of Deposits. This protection covers all savings, time and call deposits as well as savings certificates issued in the customer s name. 2. The Bank s own voluntary measures: in addition to deposits insurance required by law, customers of Kreissparkasse Köln benefit from the voluntary insurance provided by the whole savings banks financial group. This protects customers deposits, particularly savings, time and call deposits, savings bank certificates as well as promissory notes of member-banks owned by customers through the joint liability provided by deposit guarantee and support funds of all savings banks, provincial banks ( Landesbanken ) and building societies and that with no upper limit. The aim of the banks deposit insurance is to prevent the associated banks running into financial difficulties. Since its foundation in the 1970s, voluntary insurance provided by the banks as a means of deposit insurance has admirably proved its value: since this time, no customer has lost either deposits or interest with a bank affiliated to the savings banks financial group. 6 Kreissparkasse Köln Company Guide 2016/2017 7

Kreissparkasse Köln Brief profile administration and commercial economics are supported at the saving banks finance group s own college of higher education and at the Rhineland University of Applied Sciences in Cologne (Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln). In addition to qualification as a trained bank employee, the Savings bank offers a clearly structured and comprehensive programme of seminars and further training for young would-be bankers. Kreissparkasse Köln has been highly recommended for the quality of its training on a number of occasions by the chambers of industry and commerce in both Cologne and the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg region. Every year, both bodies honour the best alumni in their area. Time and again, these include trainees from the Kreissparkasse Köln. Please address applications online to www.ksk.koeln.de/ausbildung. Young, dynamic and successful particularly high performing trainees at the Kreissparkasse Köln take over a branch for four weeks here in Bergisch Gladbach in 2016 AN IMPORTANT TRAINING COMPANY IN THE AREA With currently 448 trainees, Kreissparkasse Köln is one of the most important training companies in the area. In addition to training for the highly popular qualification as a bank employee (Bankkaufmann/Bankkauffrau), the Savings bank offers two additional training opportunities: good, particularly high-performing middle school pupils can obtain their technical college final examination during their traineeship with the Kreissparkasse Köln. Good and very good school-leavers with A-levels (Abitur) have the opportunity to combine their traineeship with simultaneous study to Bachelor level. Courses of study in finance, corporate banking, business WIDE RANGE OF SUPPORT PROGRAMMES Kreissparkasse Köln actively supports the economic and structural development of the area in which it does business. Examples are its participation in regional technology and business start-ups, economic promotion and development companies as well as an intense dedication to furthering the common good, which includes 13 foundations with a total capital of over 75 million Euro. In 2015, Kreissparkasse Köln provided roughly 6 million Euros of aid through donations, distributions by charitable trusts and funds from the PS save and profit (PS-Sparen und Gewinnen) to benefit both young and old, for social affairs, sport and culture as well as for the environment and training, which again made it one of the largest aid organisations in the area. Considerably more than 3,000 individual projects run by societies, institutions and voluntary helpers received support; the broad range of causes supported covers activities in kindergartens, schools and old people s homes through initiatives in sports clubs, choirs, and orchestras to contributions to exhibitions and art purchases. Thus Kreissparkasse Köln provides support to both major and minor activities in order to improve the quality of life of people in the area. 8 Kreissparkasse Köln Company Guide 2016/2017 9

Kreissparkasse Köln Brief profile SUSTAINABILITY AS PART OF THE COMPANY PHILOSOPHY For Kreissparkasse Köln, commercial success and social and ecological responsibility go hand-in-hand. It pursues a policy based on responsibility both vis-à-vis its customers, employees, the local authorities that own it and suppliers and also towards the environment and wishes to make its contribution to ensuring that people continue to live in an area with a high quality of life. Its business model has therefore always been regional: it accepts the money of its customers in the area and then lends it out again here in the form of loans. Anyone who invests his money with Kreissparkasse Köln therefore contributes to the economic development of his local area. You will find the complete sustainability report on our homepage under www.ksk-koeln.de/nachhaltigkeit. THE ENVIRONMENT The Bank s understanding of sustainability also includes dealing responsibly with raw materials. Last year for example, it carried out its first energy audit based on the German Law on Energy Service Providers. As part of this exercise, external auditors examined energy consumption and the major consumers of energy. One result of the audit is a list of measures that should help to reduce energy consumption still further in future. Various measures to conserve energy and materials have already been implemented in 2015. Just to mention a few examples: the acquisition of 15 energy-efficient air conditioning units and 10 energy-saving heating units as well as the heat insulation of 6 roofs. Overall, it was possible to reduce electricity consumption by 4.1 % to 16.4 million kwh. Currently, the main branch in Cologne s Neumarkt and the regional branch in Siegburg are being fitted with photovoltaic equipment. MOBILITY An additional measure is the promotion of mobility through the use of electricity. Kreissparkasse Köln has therefore installed an E-chargeup stand with two charging outlets for electrically-powered cars in Cologne s Neumarkt and two E-charge-up stands with four charging outlets in Sankt Augustin. There is also a charging station with three charging outlets for electric bicycles at the regional branch in Siegburg. Additionally, in 2015, 10 plug-in hybrid cars were acquired for our own vehicle fleet. This means that currently 18 vehicles (almost 30 % of a total of 65 vehicles in our fleet) are powered by alternative sources. SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS In addition to return, risk and liquidity, ever more customers are of the opinion that an ethical and ecologically responsible use for the money they invest is equally important. That is why the products offered by Kreissparkasse Köln also include various funds based on sustainability such as for example DelaSelect: Nachhaltigkeit or the terrassisi Aktien. It also offers customers privileged public development loan funds for environmental and energy efficiency measures, entrepreneurial start-ups, innovations and for social purposes. Kreissparkasse Köln Brief profile an auction. Now after over 30 years of commitment to enhancing the collection the museum holds the world s largest collection of sketches, sculptures and prints by the artist Käthe Kollwitz. Besides presenting its collection on a permanent basis, the museum regularly holds special exhibitions related to the work of Käthe Kollwitz. The support programme of all of the exhibitions features readings, concerts, workshops and specialist presentations. A comprehensive programme invites visitors of all ages into the museum. View into the museum with the self-portrait of Käthe Kollwitz, model 1926 36, bronze Käthe Kollwitz Museum OF Kreissparkasse Köln Since spring 1985, Cologne has had a museum that is completely dedicated to one artist: Käthe Kollwitz, one of the great icons of classical modernism. The museum was founded by the Kreissparkasse Köln, which laid the foundations for this collection by purchasing a lot of 60 sketches back in 1983. Local governmental financial difficulties at that time prevented this private collection from being purchased by a municipal museum, so thanks to the financial commitment of Kreissparkasse Köln, the works were protected against being scattered to the four winds at Käthe Kollwitz, Frau mit Orange (Woman with orange), 1901 Brush lithograph with orange tone stone and etching (aquatint, reservage and drypoint), modified with charcoal Käthe Kollwitz Museum Köln Neumarkt 18-24, 50667 Köln (Accessible via the glass lift in the Neumarkt Passage) Tel. 0221 227-2899 or -2602 Fax 0221 227-3762 Email museum@kollwitz.de www.kollwitz.de Opening hours: Tuesdays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission: EUR 5 or EUR 2 (concessions), including for schoolchildren and students (Kreissparkasse Köln uses entry fees to support the Käthe Kollwitz Haus memorial in Moritzburg Käthe Kollwitz s last home). 12 Kreissparkasse Köln Company Guide 2016/2017 13
