The Tafseer : ا ل قا رع ة Al-Qâri'ah [the Hour] It is from the names of the Day of Judgment. It is named so because it strikes and shocks the people, and it disturbs and shakes the people due to its events. And because of this, its matter is magnified and great ; and He emphatically imposed [presented] it, by His saying : الن ا س ي كو ن ي و م ا ل قا رع ة م ا ا د ر ا ك و م ا ا ل قا رع ة م ا ا ل قا رع ة Al-Qâri'ah [the Hour].. What is the striking (Hour)? And what will make you know what the striking (Hour) is? It is a Day whereon mankind will be like moths scattered about, and this is Due to the severity of the shocking events and its terror ا لم ب ثوث كا ل فر ا ش will be like moths scattered about, Meaning : like spread out locusts, who crowd one over another. And these are the creatures which [mostly] appear at night, they stumble one over another not knowing where they are heading to. When a fire is lit, it faces towards it without knowing what it is heading to.. So this will be the condition of people ; who are creatures described with intellect! And as for the mountains ; the rigidly firm, they will be
ا لم ن فو ش كا لع ه ن.be like carded wool Meaning ; like spread out wool which subsides and disappears ; which has nothing left except being extremely weak, being moved with the slightest wind. Allaah The Exalted says : الس ح ا ب م ر ت م ر و ه ي ج ام د ة ت ح س ب ه ا ا ل جب ا ل و ت ر ى And you will see the mountains and think them solid, but they shall pass away as the passing away of the clouds. [Sooratu Naml : 88] And then after that, it will be spread out, scattered, and it will vanish such that nothing of its trace will remain ; There and then : the Scales will be brought ; And the people will be divided into two : The Happy ones, and the Sorrowful ones م و ا زين ه ث ق ل ت م ن ف ا م ا Then as for him whose balance (of good deeds) will be heavy, That is : he increased and preponderated his good deeds over his bad deeds ر اض ي ة ع يش ة ف ي فه و He will live a pleasant life. In the Delightful Paradise.
م و ا زين ه خ ف ت م ن و ا م ا But as for him whose balance will be light, Such that he does not have good deeds which overwhelm [and are more] than the bad deeds ه ا وي ة ف ا م ه He will have his home in Hawiyah (pit, i.e. Hell). Meaning : his abode, and his returning place is the Fire. Of which from its names is al- Haawiyah. It will be to him binding, continuous, all the times. As Allaah said : غر ام ا كا ن ع ذاب ه ا ا ن Verily! Its torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment." [Sooratul Furqaan : 65] And it has been said that the meaning of this verse ; is that his brain would be proceeded into the fire. Meaning he will be thrown into the fire head-first. م اه ي ه ا د ر ا ك و م ا And what will make you know what it is? And this [question] is the magnification of what it [the fire] consists. Then He explained it by His word :
ن ار ح ام ي ة (It is) a hot blazing Fire! That is : extreme in heat. Its heat has been multiplied seventy times over the fire present in this world! We seek Allaah s refuge from it.
