Introduction Remote Terminal Service (RTS) provides a secure way for authorized users to access Corporate internal network services over the Internet. RTS provides you with a personalized portal that is customized for you based on the credentials that you enter into the RTS. Prerequisites In order to access RTS from your PC, you and your PC must meet following prerequisites: 1. You are authorized and granted privilege to access RTS over the Internet as RTS requires your personal credentials to log onto the corporate network.. 2. Your PC must be Win9x/ME/XP/NT (SP6)/Win2k (SP2 or above)/windows Vista platform. 3. Your PC must be configured to connect to Internet via either 56Kbps modem or broadband. 4. Internet Explorer 5.5 or above with 128-bit Cipher Strength must be installed on your PC. 5. Your PC will be installed with RTS Client v 8.0 or later. The RTS portal is configured to check the existence and version of the RTS Client on your PC (not applicable to Windows Vista). If the RTS Client is too old or does not exist, the RTS portal will prompt you to download and install the updated one as stated in 2. Download and Install RTS Client for NT/XP/Win2k Professional. 6. If you are using Windows Vista, you have to manually download Remote Terminal Service (RTS) Client from http://info.mtr.com.hk/download/ica32web.msi and follow steps in Section 3 to install RTS Client on your Vista. If you don t have RTS Client installed on your PC or your RTS Client is prior to version 8.0, the RTS Portal will prompt you to download and install the updated RTS Client. However, please note that automatic installation of the RTS Client on Windows 2000 PC requires you to have administrative rights on your PC, or that the ActiveX control be registered in the Active Directory. 2.1 When you successfully log onto Corporate network and you are authorized users, you would be able to see a list of applications that you are eligible to access as depicted in Figure 3 below. Figure 3 2.2 When you access to the RTS portal, the RTS portal will check the existence of the RTS Client on your local PC or the version of the RTS Client on you PC if it does exist. Figure 15 After entering your application credentials, you would be able to use the application if you are authorized to run the application. Please note that application level credential is different from the RTS Portal credential, your application credential varies from application to application. 4.6 Some application may require installation of plug-in into the RTS backend server when you access that application. For instance, when you access Enterprise Portal, you will be prompted to install a plug-in into the RTS backend server as depicted in Figure 16. Figure 16 You should select the check-box Always trust content from MTR Corporation Limited and then click Yes button to accept the warning for Figure 16. Afterwards, the plug-in will be installed into your RTS backend server and the Enterprise Portal will be launched for you once the installation is completed as depicted in Figure 17 below. Page 10

Figure 17 4.7 Idle (or inactivity) time-out has been configured and your RTS application (i.e. PMS, EIP, etc.) will be automatically terminated if you leave the RTS application idle for 2 hours. If you are LAN user who can use computing facilities that directly connect to Corporate network in office, you should note that the RTS Portal logon password is also your Windows domain password (e.g. MTRCORP). Changing RTS Portal logon password means you change your Windows domain password as well. Your Windows domain password will not be synchronized with your Novell LAN server password when you change your Windows domain password from RTS Portal. Page 12

6. Change your RTS Personalized Portal Settings You can change your personalized RTS Portal settings such as display application description, change the application connection preference (i.e. display resolution 800x600, 1024x768, or customized display size, etc.) 6.1 To change the settings, you have to follow steps 1.1 to 1.7 to log onto RTS Portal beforehand. 6.2 When you are at RTS Portal, you can click the Settings icon to bring up Application Portal Settings as depicted in Figure 14. Figure 20 6.3 When you bring up the Application Portal Settings, you can customize your RTS Portal and set your preference as depicted in Figure 21. Figure 21 When you configure settings in RTS Portal such as window size, the settings are stored as cookies on your PC.
