WinRater Comparative Auto Rating Quick Reference Guide Updating an existing WinRater version on your PC/Network: To update your WinRater, you need to run our SoftSync online updating system. You can access three different ways: 1. go to www.bostonsoftware.com/update. 2. select HELP on the WinRater Menu Bar and then Check for Online Updates. 3. click the hyperlink included in one of our update announcements we send via email. SoftSync will automatically download and install WinRater updates, rate changes, and product enhancements on the PC or network where WinRater is installed. Getting a Quote To Generate a New Auto Quote: Double click the WinRater Rating Suite icon to launch the program. The Quick Start Menu will appear. Click on the Auto icon (you can also choose FILE and then NEW QUOTE from the Menu Bar). 1. The New Auto Quote pop-up box appears: If you choose, you can use the pull down menus to enter the Prior Carrier and Years with Company and Years with current agent. Click OK when finished. 2. The Add Driver screen appears: Enter the Required rating data, including Name, Date of Birth, Date First Licensed, SDIP, etc., and the Optional information including Gender, Marital Status, Mass License Date, License Number, etc. if you wish. In the Accidents & Violation tab, click ADD to enter any accidents and violations (Date of incident, Type of Incident, Description of Incident etc.). You can add/edit/remove accidents and violations from this tab. NOTE: You can have WinRater retrieve this information from the RMV automatically and enter the data in the appropriate fields, but you must have the Registry VPN installed. Click the Use & Exclusions tab to choose which vehicles should be associated with each driver. Click OK. 3. The Add Vehicle screen appears Enter all the necessary information, including City of Garaging, Usage, Annual Mileage, Vehicle Year/Make/Model, etc. If you enter the VIN number, WinRater will automatically complete the Vehicle Year/Make/ Model fields for you as well as enter all the ISO equipment information. Enter the Owner and Principal Operator information for each vehicle. You can either add an additional vehicle at this point by clicking Save and Add a New Vehicle or you can go the Rating Detail Screen by clicking DONE. NOTE: At the Rating Detail Screen underneath the Coverages Part 1-12, there is a section for Additional Coverages that affect each specific vehicle. Click the ADD button to view and select from the list of coverages. 4. Select the Policy Options To view and select coverages that apply policy wide, click the Policy Options tab and check the appropriate coverages. 5. Enter Underwriting Questions Click the Underwriting tab to enter specific underwriting and other questions. 6. The Quote is finished Based on the information and coverages you have entered, WinRater has generated an accurate quote displayed in the Company/Premium section on the right side of the screen. Use the mouse and keyboard to change any of the Liability limits and Additional Coverages for each vehicle. Click through the tabs to review and change information for Drivers, Vehicles, Policy Options, and Underwriting. Additional Rating Features To add additional drivers while in the middle of the quote Select the Drivers tab from the Rating Detail Screen. At the bottom of this screen you can Add/Edit/Remove any drivers in the above list by highlighting them and clicking on add/edit/remove. You can also add new Drivers to a policy by clicking EDIT on a vehicle; click on the NEW DRIVER button at the bottom. You can add an unlimited number of drivers to the quoted policy. You can also connect to the RMV to retrieve the RMV data for the driver(s) automatically. To add additional vehicles while in the middle of a quote Click Add Vehicle button above the liability limits on the left hand side of the screen. The Add Vehicle pop-up box will appear. Proceed as above and click DONE. You ll return to the Rating Detail Screen with the recalculated Premiums displayed. To change Policy Effective Period WinRater allows you to view the quoted premiums by various time increments 6 months, 1 year, 1 1/2 years, 2 years, 2 1/2 years, and 3 years. It automatically defaults * to display an annual premium. You can change this by clicking on the Quote Period pull down menu at the bottom of the Companies & Premuims section. Whenever you enter any rating data, WinRater cross-references this against the carrier eligibility requirements. WinRater automatically alerts you if you have entered invalid data. In such instances, the premium displays N/A (not available) or N/E (not eligible) in the Premium list. Just double-click on the plan name or N/A or N/E for an explanation of why the plan was invalidated. To Save a Quote: You can save a quote by 3 different methods: 1. Select FILE on WinRater Menu Bar and then SAVE QUOTE. Type in all customer information. Click OK when finished. 2. Select the SAVE icon on the WinRater Tool Bar. 3. Whenever you exit a quote, WinRater will automatically ask you if you wish to save the quote. Click YES to save and NO to exit without saving. To Open a Saved Quote: 1. From the Quick Start Menu choose, Click here to open an existing quote, or select FILE and then OPEN QUOTE. 2. A Quote List dialog box appears. A list of folders is displayed with the names of all saved customers. Click on the customer folder you wish to retrieve and then double click on the quote (auto, home, or dwelling/fire) you want. Rating Detail Screen The Rating Detail Screen: simple organization of risk information The Rating Detail Screen is divided into 3 major sections: 1. Liability Limits: located under each vehicle, this section contains all liability limits. You can adjust the limits by using the drop down arrow next to each field. 2. The 4 tabs of Rating Information: located in the center of the screen. Vehicles: displays the vehicles and their associated optional coverages. Drivers: displays the driver information. You can add/edit/remove drivers and do the RMV lookup from this tab. Policy Options: displays policy general & carrier endorsements (e.g. Force Multi-Car, HO credit, Company Car) Underwriting: displays the policy history of the drivers 3. Companies and Premiums: located on the right side of the screen, this section displays the carrier plans and their quoted premiums. Actions button: The ACTIONS button a shortcut to many rating features: On the upper right side of the screen (just above the Carrier Plans and Premiums), you ll find the ACTIONS button. Click on it to quickly access many important rating features. 1. View Summary: on on-screen detailed summary of the quote. This can be printed. Also accessible by double-clicking on the quote premium. 2. Print Summary: print the summary of the quote and/or comparison of your selected carriers. 3. View Premium Chart: a bar-graph comparison of the comparative quotes. 4. Premium List Font Size: adjust the size of the font you are using for displaying quotes. 5. Add/Remove Plans: choose the carrier rate plans displayed in your quote. 6. View Client: Click this to enter the insured s name, address, etc. This information will appear on the quote print out and used when integrating data to another system, but does NOT save the quote. 7. Export: Click here when integrating with your agency management system. 8. ACORD Forms: click this and then scroll to the form you wish to print including New Application, Binder, Loss Notice or Change Request. Defaults/Agency Profile for more efficient rating Set your workflow preferences and standard rating data (e.g. Liability Limits and Optional Coverages) to defaulted values that best meet your agency coverage requirements. These defaults are automatically applied at the start of each quote. You ll save a lot of time! Agency Profile/Defaults 1. From the WinRater Menu Bar at the top of the screen choose OPTIONS and then AGENCY PROFILE. 2. Click on the AGENCY INFORMATION tab. This allows you to enter your agency name, address, phone/fax numbers, and email that will appear on all printouts. 3. Click on the PERSONAL AUTO DEFAULTS tab and choose the default settings for Liability Preference, Quote Period, and Coverages. 4. Click OK at the bottom of the screen to save these defaults. Click CANCEL to exit without saving changes. NOTE: The values you select are agency settings, i.e. will affect everyone in the agency that uses WinRater on the network. User Preferences 1. A user accessing WinRater on the newtwork, can save some settings that are only specific to his/her PC and will not affect the Agency Profile. 2. From the WinRater Menu Bar at the top of the screen choose OPTIONS and then USER PREFERENCES. 3. Select from the list of options available. 4. Click OK to save. 5 781.449.8585 www.bostonsoftware.com

Utilities Export To Export a quote to your management system or Carrier Policy Process System: 1. In the PREMIUM section, Click on the ACTIONS tab, and select EXPORT. 2. From the Export Type drop down, choose where you want to send the quote. 3. If you want your quotes to always go to this specific management system, select Default Export Type. 4. Hit OK. NOTE: An initial setup may be required for the integration to work properly. Please go to our website to download bridges/instructions or call us for further details. Connecting to the Registry s VPN 1. At any time during a quote, you can select the Drivers tab on Policy section, click on RMV Lookup button. 2. In the RMV Retrieval Section, select what information you are trying to retrieve. To retrieve SDIP, Driver Record, or Policy History, select DRIVER MRB INQUIRY. To look up plate information, select LICENSE PLATE/VIN INQUIRY. To look up book value, select NADA BOOK VALUE INQUIRY. 3. After selecting what action you would like to take click Connect. 4. WinRater will automatically retrieve the data you ve requested and return it to the appropriate fields in WinRater and recaluculate the quote. NOTE: In order to retrieve the above data, you must have a username and password that you received when you purchased the Virtual Private Network solution directly from the RMV. New WinRater Installation: 1. Insert the WinRater CD into your CD drive. Assuming your PC or network is configured in a standard way, the WinRater Setup program will automatically start when the CD is inserted. 2. If it doesn t, click your Windows START bar and then RUN. Type D:\setup (if D is your CD drive) and the installation procedure will begin. For a stand-alone PC: Choose QUICK INSTALLATION at the first prompt and click NEXT. This method will automatically install WinRater on your PC in a WinRater folder in the Program Files directory. An icon will instantly appear on your desktop. For Networks: Choose CUSTOM INSTALLATION at the first prompt. Click NEXT. Select the option INSTALLATION TO SERVER and then click NEXT. Select the BROWSE button and find the network drive/directory you want to install in. Click OK to return to the install screen. Click NEXT. Once you have successfully installed WinRater on your server, go to each workstation and proceed as follows: To install on workstations: Select START and then RUN. At the Run box, click the BROWSE button. Click the pull down menu in the LOOK IN field. Find the WinRater folder on your server drive. Double click on the WinRater folder. Find the file WKSetup.EXE and double click on it. Click NEXT at the first install screen and click NEXT again to confirm. Click FINISH when program has completed installing. Double click on the icon on your desktop to launch WinRater.
