Introduction to the Post-Secondary Central Data Warehouse, October 2 The ALMD Post-Secondary Central Data Warehouse October 2 Submission reflects student-level data submitted by 21 of B.C.'s public post-secondary institutions, including colleges, institutes and all universities except UBC, UVic, SFU and UNBC. Historical Data submitted data for the CDW for the first time in October 2. Their submission includes complete data from Academic Year 2-7, Fiscal Year 27-8, November 1st 2, and Calendar Year 27. Okanagan University College became and UBC-Okanagan in September 25. continues to submit data to the Central Data Warehouse. began operation in 25. Figures reported under and - Open Learning for prior years represent the University College of the Cariboo and the Open Learning Agency respectively. established a Vancouver campus in Fall 27, assuming responsibility for the former Institute of Indigenous Government. The following 5 insitutions were granted university status as of September 1, 28, and their names changed at that time: -Capilano College became -Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design became -Kwantlen University College became -Malaspina University-College became -University College of the Fraser Valley became. Quality Control Since June 22, ALMD has implemented a data quality management plan to improve the overall quality of data in the Central Data Warehouse. The ministry acknowledges the effort and co-operation of the public post-secondary institutions in improving the quality of data used to generate these reports. Data quality improvement is an ongoing process, and the overall quality of data in the Central Data Warehouse is expected to continue to improve. Time Periods The standard reports present information for the following time periods: Academic Year: September 1 to August 31. Fiscal Year: April 1 to March 31. Calendar Year: January 1 to December 31 (used in Credentials reporting only at this time). November 1st: A count of all students enrolled as of November 1st each year. A student headcount at Nov. 1 reports the number of students at a single point in time, whereas the other time periods report the number of students over an entire year. As a result, institutions that offer more frequent short-term courses (such as the ) may appear to have a low headcount as at Nov. 1 despite providing education to a much higher number of students over a year. Offshore Students Reported headcounts include approximately 4, offshore students (not studying in Canada). Unique Headcount In any given year, some students attend more than one institution. Since these students are included in the headcount of each institution they attend, the sum of all institutions' headcounts will include some students more than once, producing an over-stated total headcount. In the unique headcount, students who are identified as attending more than one institution are only counted once. This number represents the number of students served by the participating institutions as a whole. ing Values indicating a student headcount of less than five have been replaced with 'mask' to respect government's privacy policy. The implementation of this ing is under review. For more information about the standard reports, please contact Hugh Judd, Co-ordinator, Central Data Warehouse at Hugh.Judd@gov.bc.ca.
