1 Bachelor of Computer Science (ICS) Program 2011 Application Form Information for Applicants: Requirements: 1. A bachelor's degree: in a non-computer related area (e.g., arts, science, commerce, music, etc.) in computer science, if your knowledge is very out of date (e.g., 1980s and before) 2. Good academic achievement (i.e., at least 68% average) 3. Little or no programming experience, or outdated programming knowledge 4. BC High School Principles of Mathematics 12, or an equivalent pre-calculus course 5. Feel comfortable using computers 6. 3 credits of First Year English: any one of UBC ENGL 110, 111, 112, 120 or 121 (or Arts 001) or an equivalent, transferable course Application Process: The application process consists of two phases: 1. Online application for admission to UBC ( 2. Application for admission to BCS (ICS) When you apply online for admission to UBC (phase 1), you should receive confirmation from the UBC Admissions office that you have successfully completed the application. Note that you will be asked to submit official transcripts from all previous postsecondary institutions attended, to the Registrar's Office as part of your application for admission to UBC. If you are an international student, please refer to the UBC International Students Web site ( for details regarding transcript regulations. If the University rejects your application, you will not be accepted into the BCS (ICS) program. The phase 2 application form is included in this document. Please read the Questions page(s) on the BCS (ICS) Web site ( before you complete the application form. 2 Two Reference Letters in sealed envelopes $100 non-refundable application fee. We accept personal cheque only for payment. Please make sure that you make your cheque payable to The University of British Columbia and that your full name is on the cheque. The complete application package should be received at the following address on or before March 15, 2011 (12:00 noon).
